Lee didn't do bad on Leno tonight. It was his first time performing the song live, and it went well. I thought he and the band did a fantastic job.

JMHO but that performance is one only a fan would love. Lee needs new fans. I think they should have gone with LIU -- would be a better showcase for him.
But the band is good.

And we know this because?
I'm not saying non fans love it or not, but I don't see how we'd know one way or the other, unless the song really had a great itunes bump.
I think it was a nice performance, nothing to remember but mainly do to the song being so eh. I wonder how long it will take RCA to change singles. Although nothing on his album sounds radio friendly.

IMO "Me & My Jealousy" is the song to keep an eye on as far as future singles go.
Having heard the full version via the AOL Idols channel yesterday, I can tell you it's fantastic.
Also very noteworthy and possibly single worthy, Beautiful Like You, Dear Isabelle, and Brooklyn Bridge.

This is Top 40 as of this morning...
46 40 LEE DEWYZE Sweet Serendipity 326 225 101
Still think that's a really small bullet for an A. I. artist's debut single, but who knows...

I just watched his performance. It was nice. That's not going to be enough to make this guy a star. Bottom line - no star potential, no charisma, no "it" factor or whatever you call it. And I hate to say it but just okay in the looks department. Let's don't kid ourselves that looks don't matter. The big male HotAC artists have a lot of women calling them "hot" all over the internet. John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Jason Mraz, Chris Daughtey, Adam Levine, Chad Kroeger, etc., etc. The amount of talent this group has and also who thinks they are hot is obviously subjective but they have something that is setting them apart from the Howie Day's, Matt Nathanson's, and Kris Allen's of the world. It's that intangible thing that you can't really make. You either have it or you don't.

But Deewyze sounds like a cross between Mayer/Thomas so he fits hot ac as good as anyone! But he don't look like them. It is what it is.

But I've always thought Lee really was, more than half the names on the list you gave. Lee's problem isn't that he doesn't look the part. His problem is more the other stuff you said. He doesn't have anything that makes him unique or that makes him stand out from the crowd. I believe EW's album review said something about him being so generic that the font should be beige. Listening to his album, I can't disagree. "Sweet Serendipity" is a solid single IMO though, it should do alright here.

Hearing this song conjures up images of an old Onion story, "Matchbox 20 make least inspiring album ever". Of course, by comparison, Rob Thomas and the gang are bastions of popularity.
I'd say 'meh', but that already been reserved for too many acts.

It's that intangible thing that you can't really make. You either have it or you don't. Matt Nathanson and Howie Day had huge hits on Hot AC though (especially in terms of recurrent play) - Dave Matthews has been a core HAC artist, at least in the late 90s and early 2000s - and not sure Chad Kroeger has it going on in the looks department (same with Jason Mraz, Colbie Caillat, and the guy from Green Day) I actually think the HAC audience is pretty good about not being overly concerned with looks (as opposed to CHR) - I'd almost say that a lot of HAC listeners have no clue what the artists even look like

EDIT: I meant to say Matchbox 20/Rob Thomas were bastions of originality compared to this, not popularity. My bad.

(Seems like you have more CHR-type taste in music) No offense, just wondering... None taken, I listen to Hot AC, along with AAA and Alternative. CHR has a format is way too juvenile for me. I can't stand Disk Jockeys who scream. But I do get frustrated by Hot AC's overreliance on some rather unremarkable artists.

In terms of Lee's success, he will be a dissapointment for an idol winner but more importantly will lay the roots for his career. However, all it takes is one massive hit for him to be on a level with all those other guys. Imo that hit is not on this album but you never know.

SS got a nice boost on iTunes today -- last I saw it was at #209. Yesterday it was in the high 400's.

Because that's so wrong. She's beautiful.
