What the... ? Random, but I can't help but want it to smash. It's so incredible. Why the surprise? With the exception of "Chicken Fried" due to the song's too-ostensible Country list-song lyrics, and possibly "Toes", any of their singles to date would sound right at home on Adult Alternative, given they sound closer to James Taylor and the Allman Brothers Band than what you'd typically expect to hear on Country radio these days. If anything, I'm surprised "Highway 20 Ride" didn't get a push at Adult Alternative. That, along with this, are perfect for the format, and with the Zac Brown Band opening up for the Dave Matthews Band during their summer tour, I believe their crossover will prove to be successful............and slightly overdue. Was "Chicken Fried" and "Toes" released to AAA/Hot AC? I betcha if they released them songs to pop formats too, it would have been a Taylor Swift/ Lady Antebellum story. It is also a bit overdue, I agree.

I think 'Toes' would have been huge. I think it was on Hot AC and CHR Cool New Music and actually did decent on Hot AC in late Summer/early Fall last year. It was a summer song though and by Fall is didn't make sense to send it for adds on either format.

Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus Why the surprise? For the reasons that you listed. They haven't pushed anything on anything other than country, despite having potential. So seeing this getting pushed just comes as a surprise. I hope they send it out to AC and HAC as well. I could see it doing well there moreover than it doing well at AAA.

I wish they'd tried with Whatever It Is, Toes, Highway 20 Ride, or even Chicken Fried (that last one might be a stretch due to the lyrics). This song is fine, but those are all amazing and could've potentially had a ton or crossover success with good AC/Hot AC/Pop mixes.

It wouldn't have worked with "Chicken Fried" or "Highway 20 Ride", and possibly "Toes", but I think "Whatever It Is" definitely could have received at least a moderate amount of both AC and Triple A airplay if they gave it the similar treatment. This has to be a first - having three country songs on the Triple A chart at once. (Need You Now/The Coast/Free)

Does anyone here have full mediabase access? I'm asking because I'm curious as to how many spins this has on Hot AC. I know it went for adds, but it's not doing anything 3 weeks after.

I never expected this to do anything on Hot AC, to be honest. It sounds too mature for the format I feel. It's surprising me, however, that this isn't doing better on Triple A. If you still constantly hear gold records of the Allman Brothers Band, the Marshall Tucker Band and James Taylor on the format, then there is NO reason they shouldn't be playing this. "Toes" actually peaked higher than this (albeit short of the Top 40). It surprises me that they're not getting much more play at Triple A, but their material strikes me as too mature and brawny for Hot AC, including everything on "You Get What You Give".
