Maybe 3's a Crowd on the chart for Adele as "Just A Kiss" takes over the top spot this week giving Lady Antebellum their 2nd #1 hit. Of course their breakthrough smash "Need You Now" topped the chart back in 2010. Adele still has 3 songs on the chart, so I don't think she's sweating the guard change.
Other than a few flips, really not much else to report on the top half this week. The Doobie Brothers return to the top 20 with "A Brighter Day" at #20.
On the debut circuit it's the return of the legendary Paul McCartney. While The Beatles were never AC staples, Paul sure has made his mark on the chart with Wings (not the one with Crystal Bernard) and as a solo artist. While the Beatles themselves only managed 7 AC hit, this is Paul McCartney's 36th credited AC hit. Paul's solo career now spans 5 decades on AC, his first charting hit being "Another Day" which peaked at #4 in May 1971. His most recent AC hit was "Ever Present Past" which peaked at #16 in September 2007. Paul's new single"Valentine's day" debuts at #28 this week.
The other debut is from Rihanna, the act that most AC stations aren't ready to fully commit to. "W Found Love" debuts at #29 this week. This is Rihanna's 4th AC hit. Her last hit was "Only Girl In the World" which peaked at #17 last May.
Hot Chelle Rae goes recurrent this week. The only song to benefit a new peak position this week as a result is "Without You." Meanwhile AC favorite Gloria Estefan is stuck at #26 for the 3rd week in a row.
