The top 5 remains the same this week, but it looks like Colbie Caillat is quickly becoming a contender to overtake Lady Antebellum for the #1 spot. I think it's possible she can do it in a couple of weeks, unless some fluctuating with the top 4 occurs which is pretty common here.
Adele meanwhile has scored a massive accomplishment this week. She has 3 songs in the AC top 10 simultaneously! I have not found another (non-Christmas) time in ACville where this has happened, if you know of another time, please share with us! "Set Fire to the Rain" moves 11-10 as "Someone Like You" remains at #1 and her breakout smash "Rolling in the Deep" holds at #9.
Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years," her contribution to the "Breaking Dawn" soundtrack, leaps up 24-19 this week giving the singer her 2nd top 20 hit. Christina's other top 20 hit was her breakthrough single "Jar of Hearts" which peaked at #11 last May.
We have 2 debuts this week. Starting us off at #27 is the latest hit for Kelly Clarkson. The song reached #1 on the Ho1 00 this week, and now she's looking to make more moves on AC. "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" is Kelly's 13th AC hit. She is also at #5 this week with "Mr. Know It All." (Side note, I'll be seeing Kelly next week when she performs in Hollywood. )
This chart welcomes another newcomer. Meet Whitney Wolanin. She is a 21-year old singer/songwriter from New York, but raised in Florida. While this is her first crack on the AC chart (or any Billboard chart for that matter) she actually has been recording since she was 13. She has released 2 albums and 2 EPs. As of right now "Honesty" is a one-off single. Let's see if she can last on the chart more than one week. "Honesty" debuts at #29 this week.
Tieing with Christina Perri for biggest leap were last week's debuts Paul McCartney (28-23) and Rihanna (29-24). Lady Gaga goes recurrent this week with "The Edge of Glory" resulting in new peak positions for Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Seal.
Speaking of Seal hot off the separation announcement from Heidi Klum (ironically his single is "Let's Stay Together") there is rumor that he is on the shortlist to appear on the next series of "Dancing With the Stars." Let's see if it happens!
