I love this song. The sound of this song reminds me of songs from the 60s- it sounds new and fresh when compared to all the other stuff out today. This will probably be a #1 on Triple AAA soon. Hope it does well on HOT AC.

I saw them open for Maroon 5 last year here in Texas. I knew nothing of them going in, and came away extremely impressed. At the time their album was free off their website and it was definitely better than average.
This song sounds like everything else I've heard from them, so it's good to see them get some recognition. Vastly different from anything else on the radio now.

I absolutely concur. One of the best singles attempting to crossover from adult alternative to come across in all recent memory. I was actually thinking the former half of the 70's, not the 60's, when I hear this but at any rate it has that vintage sound that would actually fit right at home in the soundtrack to any film in the Blaxpoitation genre.
*
The thing that immediately stands out to me with regards to Fitz & The Tantrums in general is that, when you really listen close to numerous tracks of theirs (I would highly recommend "L.O.V." as a second single)............there is an absolute absence of guitars.
It's almost sad that when you hear the word "band" these days, it seems obligatory for a band to feature at least one lead guitarist and one bass guitarist, in addition to a drummer. Or, when a "band" is seeking an acoustic-based sound, there may or may not be an acoustic guitar present, but if not that definitely a piano. I've never believed that to be true, and yet it seems like virtually EVERY "band" I know is rigidly dependent on composition and rhythm via guitar or piano.
Not here. The organ pipe and saxophone, I'd say, are the driving instruments to Fitz & The Tantrums, at least this era, but there are certainly other instruments that flavor their sound as well. There's nary a guitar in the entire ensemble..............and the fact that's the case sounds almost radical as far as our perception of bands are concerned..................which is in itself sad thinking about in that it is perhaps the main reason why this band effortlessly stands out among the legions of others acts and not necessarily because of their incredible passion in their live performances.
*
I hope this becomes a crossover hit, which in an ideal world it should be a multi-format Top Five smash..............but I'm doubting it, honestly. In a radio landscape dominated by polish and gloss, I'm thinking this will reach approximately #24-27 on the Adult Top 40.

^ "Little Lion Man" has made it almost to Top 20 and still has a decently huge bullet, so I think this has a good chance. Songs like this should be smashing on AC, though.

I love this song, but I'm not sure it has the popularity of Little Lion Man

Not sure I'd go so far as to say it'd sound at home in a Blaxploitation flick, but I do agree with your placement of its influences chronologically. My way of describing it would be Scissor Sisters attempting to pull off Curtis Mayfield; that probably only makes sense to me, but whatever. In any event, I agree with everyone else so far that it's a fine song. I can see it scraping Hot AC, but I'd guess it'd stall in the 30s somewhere.

I just discovered this song recently thanks to the VH1 Countdown and I'm loving it. Had to go buy the mp3. It's a shame it isn't doing anything at Hot AC.

^Oh, darn; they have it for free by subscribing to their mailing list: fitzandthetantrums.com/ I got it after seeing that and it's finally starting to grow on me--I didn't like it at first. Kinda interesting to see several of these "throwback" tracks doing fairly well on the charts; it makes me want to see Maroon 5's "I Can't Lie" (my favorite track from Hands All Over) be a single!
