Exactly she could have done at least something ...at this point its just stupid to promote the 1st single thats already out for 2 and half months. Bullshit, "Die Young" and "Diamonds" didn't have promo, nor even a video, and they are doing great. Furthermore, while DY is extremelly commercial (just like YB), "Diamonds" do not have half the smash appeal that YB has. Saying that this flopped because it is Christina or that this flopped because it had no promo, given that it shouldn't need so as she has the hype of not releasing something in years, being a judge on The Voice and coming off a gynormous flop is exactly the same. She should have sold off the strenght of her name, like K$ and Robyn. Both statementds do nothing else that confirming that she has definitedly fallen from the pop-scene food chain. Honestly, comparing Christina to Ke$ha and Rihanna is laughable. The two of them are among the hottest pop stars on the planet, while Christina's stock has fallen considerably in recent years. It's really no surprise that their singles are smashing based on name value alone, whereas 'Your Body' isn't. At this point, Christina needs to promote her music for it to do well. She can't just sit on her ass and expect it to sell.

...Interestingly enough, this has climbed back up to #45 on the US iTunes chart. It's also climbing up to #13 on the UK chart and stable at #10 on the Canadian chart.

Xtina needs a radio promo tour.

Even though i find LTBL to be the better song i think they should go with "Just a Fool" as a second single....It has Blake Shelton on and the potential to be a hit.

Blue - Christina is following up a disastrous album era. We r who we r and we found love were HUGE, so of course they'd do better than her. It sucks as a Christina Stan but oh well :(
JAF will do well on country but sending it to pop is a bad idea

\ She's still young in the pop-music world, so there's probably other factors going on other than the fact that she didn't perform the song multiple times. The problem is its underwhelming. Its an album track AT BEST, not a lead single.

lol @ everyone saying that this wasn't the best choice as the 1st single. I wonder what you would say if this ended up being a hit. I personally think this was the obvious lead single on the album. Let There Be Love is a safe hit which is why it should be the 2nd single instead of the first.

^Yes- at times, when a single/project underperforms, there are all sorts of reasons given for the underperformance. There's no way of knowing what will hit and what won't, but with certain acts, there's more to it than just the project itself.
Anyhow, top 40 is giving this the boot like nobody's business. This is the 7-day-rolling update today:
19 21 CHRISTINA AGUILERA Your Body 2850 3995 -1145 15.22

That stinks I was kind of hoping that it would linger around some. When I first heard "Your Body" I was slightly dissapointed. I thought it needed something and still do. It dosen't really peak properly. I also thought it should have been slightly faster but I still really like it alot. Surprisingly my friend and her 15 year old daughter LOVE it.

Holy crap... this got kicked off from radio airplay real fast :(
Oh well it's 100% over now. The only consolation is that it climbed 16-10 on the Dance/Club songs. (Even though I've never understood the methodology of that chart, it always made no sense to me)

^The dance chart is compiled in a manner similar to how Billboard used to compile other charts- reporters (in this case, DJs) rank tracks and submit their lists to Billboard. BB assigns a set number of points based on each ranking and then adds everything up. It's possible (and probable) that the No. 1 track isn't the one that gets the most spins in that reporting period; it just has the most points based on all of its rankings across the board.

Thanks for the clarification. I always thought that chart made no sense, because all of the songs follow the same pattern: fast climbs with big jumps, with a new #1 every week, with the former #1 song always dropping from 1-7 or something like that and then falling off the chart. All the songs seem to last from 12-16 weeks.

All the songs seem to last from 12-16 weeks. Songs that are hot and have a lot of promotion behind them tend to perform better. A slower climb and a slower fall tend to have more of a lasting impact. Some songs will have a rather quick 8-10 week run. 12-16 is pretty standard. Usually once a song has peaked at number one (or in general), most simply stop charting it hence the large drop the week after.

Moves up 1 spot (23-22) on the AT40 this week. Yay! It'll probably slide down to #23 next week, then take a big drop afterwards.. :(

In three days, it's lost nearly 700 spins at pop- down to No. 26 on Mediabase's 7-day-rolling chart.
Video Play Fuse: No. 5 (down from 4 a week ago), 19 plays (+3 from a week ago) VH1: No. 26 (down from 12 a week ago), 5 plays (-6 from a week ago) MTVH: No. 14 (down from 5 a week ago), 30 lays (-4 from a week ago)
iTunes No. 61

looking like NMT is a smash compared to this lol. May not even enter the top 15 in the UK (which NMT at least did).
