Well if you are only concerned with sales then she shouldn't be taking a break but both Loud and TTT were stuffed with filler aside from a few hot singles and I'm sure some people would like for her to take a few years off to get a more cohesive album like she had with GGGB and Rated R.

And people complained about Beyonce & Katy never taking a break.... I'm ready of course. If I like an artist and love their music why would I want them to take a break? I wish my faves released as much as Rihanna, while still giving me 4-5 songs I love. Looking forward to this.

But does it really matter? If she can keep selling a million and racking up a few big hits with each album, why bother creating a more cohesive album? Albums aren't selling like they used to anyway. Plus releasing 4-5 singles instead of 8 singles from one album keeps the material fresher by the time it's getting released (without pulling the annoying re-release nonsense).

I guess it's just an "agree to disagree" situation. I would much rather wait 2-3 years for a solid Rihanna album than get an annual hit vehicle that will quickly be dispensed of in the next year.

I think the quality of any of her last four albums over each other are based on more of a personal preference than anything. It's always a varied opinion on a fan's favorite release or their ranking. Both consumers and critics have received them similarly and relatively strong for a female pop/dance artist. Perhaps every Rihanna release isn't for everyone, but I don't see any problem yet.

I am an album lover so I would prefer a great album over 4-5 songs with a ton of filler tacked on. But, Rihanna and her team clearly aren't interested in great albums, but rather just great singles. It is obviously working for them even if some people would prefer a bit more effort put into the albums as a whole.

I expected a new single to be out already. She's getting lazy.

Making music is her career, why should she take years off? I don't get to take years off from my job.
Not her fault that other artists are just lazy as hell.

Out of curiosity, what would a cohesive Rihanna album sound like? I thought GGGB had filler on it, plus that came a year after the album before that one so it's not like this upcoming one is any different than that was.

I've always been shocked at how strong her albums (obviously this is subjective) turn out to be considering the amount of taken to record and develop the sound. She'll have 1 or 2 filler in there, but I've thoroughly enjoyed every cd she's done since GGGB.

I tease her alot but it is what is, she/label is interested in milking her popularity until the wheels fall off, she will rake in her hits, money, endorsement deals and that's what she here for, get what you can early in this industry cause it ain't easy. She clearly isnt looking for mass respect or acclaim right now and thats fine .

After TTT having failed singles, her material matters more now than it ever has. I do have high hopes for the first single though, esp if it's even close to on par with WFL.

Her first GH compilation will be like The Immaculate Collection. Nothing but pure gold from beginning to end.

I dont' want an album. I want Rihanna to release her songs track by track because that's how I would like to purchase them.

I don't think anything is being announced today. This all came from the "DefJamFrance" account and they've deleted their tweet about her and obviously the US Def Jam account hasn't said anything.

I understand if this is locked for the time being but I just wanted to open a Rihanna thread for once, but Rihanna has confirmed in an interview with Elvis Duran that her new single, supposedly the lead single from her 7th studio album, called 'Diamonds' will be out next Wednesday at 8:00am ET; Elvis Duran is going to premiere it! Apparently produced by Stargate and Benny Blanco and written by Sia. Some things that she had to say about the new single: - The lyrics are hopeful and positive
- It's about love
- "I'm excited to surprise them [the fans] sonically"
- It's a little different than what people would expect
Edit: Rihanna Daily has posted the interview, but since it's not in youtube that I can find, I don't know how to post it here sorry

Not a dance song and not filthy? Whatever, it's Rihanna so it's bound to be good. I also just realized that they're releasing this Wednesday morning, which is the start of a new chart week for airplay. First 7 days of airplay and 5 days of sales. I smell a CC deal to maximize the debut.
