Not about an artist, but songwriter and former radio promotion vet Bart Allmand was hired last week as VP/Radio Promotion at Big Loud Mountain Records. That sparked my curiosity...is BLM turning into a full-service label? SourceMatt may very well have been on to something here...from the "Tippin' Point" thread: Also, Smith is on Republic Nashville just like FGL. Maybe Big Loud Mountain has a deal or we'll see Big Loud Mountain become the next label under the BMLG umbrella. They certainly are at the point of needing a 4th label. They're working w/Republic, a sort of 'first-look' deal and technically, FGL is on "Big Loud Mountain/Republic Nashville" too. It's not unlike what pop labels have with 'indies.' They do the farm work and when/if timing's right, they grow. Also think Emblem's Gloriana with Warner Bros. or Rob Thomas/Matchbox Twnety with Atlantic on the pop side. I think BLM will create their own radio promo team or Bart will work in tandem with Republic. I'm all for more labels like this (that curate the bands through the management/publishing companies). It's actually the future of music labels.

Montgomery Gentry signs with Blaster. Good for them! I hadn't realized that they were no longer with Average Joes. But Blaster is a much better fit for them than Average Joes was.

Given that Eddie went through/was going through bankruptcy, they may have had to leave Average Joes. It's happened to some artists before (and just would depend on stuff in the bankruptcy that we'll obviously never really know). Average Joes DID get them one Top 10 when nobody thought they would. so that's good. Blaster is really trying to become a bigger indie and did get some Top 40 love for Aaron Lewis, has the good Chuck Wicks single so we'll see what they do with MG.

I came across a photo posted by Lindsay Ell listing the artists from BBR Music Group at CRS. It listed everyone but Rachel Farley; is she still with RED BOW, or is that just a list of those artists performing at CRS. I saw the photo. Probably a good indication that they parted ways. "Ain't Easy" got off to a pretty fast start but then stalled quickly inside the top 40, and they couldn't even chart with "Midnight Road". If Rachel were showcasing new music, she would be at CRS. And I think the fact that she's not even on the label banner (the only BBRMG artist not listed) is probably a bad sign. I don't think she's with them anymore and it's not all that surprising. I love CRS, because we find out a lot about record label rosters :) ETA: Speaking of CRS, here's a schedule. UMG performances: Interesting to note that the final 3 performers get almost 2 hours while the rest of the roster has to fit in that 2 hour 20 minute timeslot tomorrow. Could be an indication that UMG wants to really showcase those last 3, especially since they have struggled and radio hasn't really warmed up to their music. The entire UMG roster is performing except for George Strait, Shania Twain, Keith Urban, Alan Jackson, Mickey Guyton, Lauren Alaina, Canaan Smith, and Chris Stapleton. Obviously we know the first 4 artists aren't going anywhere, but I hope this isn't a bad omen for the others (Mickey, Lauren, Canaan, and Chris) Also, since Josh Turner is performing, that probably means a new single from him isn't far off, as all the other performers have current projects :)

If this an indication that Mickey, Lauren, Caanan and Chris are no longer with UMG , that is just not right. Granted, this is not a confirmation as the case with Rachel Farley, but if so it is unfortunate. Watching labels drop artists or part ways after only one or two singles angers me. After all, just because one single flops, doesn't mean the next one will. IMO, labels should give an artist at least two albums before they drop an artist. And on a side note, Angie Johnson is still listed on the Sony website but not with a label designation; what is going on? She won The Voice, released a single and she's not even assigned to a label, yet the runners up, The Swon Brothers are with Arista and have released a single. Angie actually got knocked out during the battle rounds of season 2. The Swon Brothers went pretty far during season 4 (finished 3rd) and had 10 songs that were released to iTunes and charted on Billboard Hot Country Songs. They've got a pretty established fan-base already from their time on the show so it's no surprise that Sony is launching them much sooner than Angie, who is really an unknown. As for UMG, it is a little worrisome that those 4 new artists are not performing...you would think the label would want to showcase them if they have new music to perform. After the great response Mickey got last year (tons of tweets, people blown away by her, etc), well, here we are a year later and still no music. However, I would guess she is still with the label. Same goes for Chris Stapleton--still seems to be a lot of upside with these two. But I am not so sure about Lauren and Canaan. Mercury is really working hard with Scotty but even back in 2011 I had the feeling that, after their debut albums were out, only 1 of them would probably get a 2nd album with the label. There's just no news about Lauren...it's been completely quiet on that front, and that's not usually a good sign. Of course this is all just speculation on my part...I am not in the industry and I am not at CRS. Hopefully we get more details. As for Canaan, he got the one single but that was 2 years ago already. He's really been put on the back-burner, more so than most other new UMG artists.

I will say with Canaan he has been writing and in the studio a lot over the past year. Including a few weeks ago he went into record new material. He has been saying whenever he is asked on twitter now for several months that a new single is coming and lots of new music was coming as well. He hasn't mentioned anything about being dropped/losing his deal. He seems pretty open with fans about what's happening especially when asked what is happening with him and his music. It'd be sad to hear he is no longer with the label. I have been listening to a lot of his tracks he has done live and he does have a good sound that would fit in I think to what's out there now.

As I learned with The Farm, you can only take the artist saying how they are in the studio and working on new music for what it's worth. It does seem Canaan has been saying he's been working on new material forever. I agree on the label's being too short with these artist. Especially when artists like Canaan, The Farm, and Randy Montana were working on new material and then be let go so far after their last single. If you let the artist go right after their final single that's one thing, but having them hang out there to dry kind of sucks. I completely understand these labels are businesses, just like any other company and things change over time. One minute they want to support the artist and the next they are expendable. It's unfortunate but that's how this industry works (What have you done for me lately). Hopefully Canaan and Lauren are still with Mercury. Again this is all speculation on our part but hopefully we will hear word soon of new singles from these artists. One single and dropped two years later for Canaan would truly stink for him.

Canaan is still with UMG. I tweeted him about it and asked. He said any rumors about him not being with UMG aren't true.

UMG's roster still has Lauren, Mickey, Canaan and Chris. Mike Dungan REALLY believes in all 3. They all just didn't have singles scheduled for the next few months. So why have them come sing w/o a defined single in the offering? They really focused on acts with radio. They're trying to find Canaan the right sound & music to release stuff from him.
Angie Johnson is still with Sony and not assigned to a label yet, it's a little weird but the music she put out was made pre-label thanks to kickstarter fans.
Rachel Farley is still with RedBow according to my sources. She's JUST still a teenager so they're taking time to make the right music w/her after the last 2 singles didn't do much. Benny Brown doesn't move on from artists that quickly (James Wesley anyone) and she just wasn't part of a CRS focus and no single's ready yet for radio. If she's still dormant a year from now, then she's probably asked off the label.
--- Jack Ingram is signed to Blaster (he was in the ad which also had Montgomery Gentry). Seems that label is really getting some veterans on the roster.
A new artist for BMLG's Republic label is Savannah Keyes. Don't remember seeing her on the roster before. RaeLynn is still with Valory. Dallas Smith is also officially on Republic Nashville (though he's also Big Loud Mountain).

Danielle Bradbery just retweeted a tweet from BMI: #WriteOn! @nbcthevoice Season 4 winner @dbradbery stops by and signs at #BMINashville! Welcome 2 the #BMIFamily! pic.twitter.com/M2sNxN2wFd
Does this mean she is no longer with Big Machine? She is listed on their website roster, and just released her album in November, so it seems strange that she would part ways so quickly.

I read that Columbia Nashville is releasing an EP for Chris Janson who was previously with BNA. Has he re-signed or is this just for the EP release? Interesting. Where did you see that at? I looked at the Bigger Picture Group website last night and Chris was still listed there, for whatever that's worth. And like Fanofctrymusic, I'm also curious as to whether Curb had any sort of 'showcase' at CRS. That's the one label that it's impossible to figure out what they're up to. If she's still dormant a year from now, then she's probably asked off the label. Thanks for clarification on these guys. I don't understand what they are doing with Mickey Guyton if she performed a bunch of stuff last year and got one of the biggest reactions, but since then all has been quiet on that front. As for Stapleton, I just really want him to get a new single out soon and to succeed, but since he didn't play I am assuming that Mercury's next attempt at radio with him is gonna be several months off yet. Jack Ingram is signed to Blaster (he was in the ad which also had Montgomery Gentry). Yep, I had Jack Ingram, Dallas Smith, and RaeLynn already on those labels :) I took Savannah off a while back because we haven't heard anything about her since last year either but I'll fix that in the first post.

Janson isn't listed on the label promo list here for BBR. He could still be there, though. I'm pretty sure that EP is the one from years ago.
Curb has Sweetwater Rain, lee Brice, Rodney Atkins, American Young, Ashkey Gearing, Mo Pitney, Wynonna, Rachel Holder. Sidewalk is Morgan Frazier, Tim Duggar, Dylan Scott. The label played music through the hall. That was their promo.
Julianne Hough is still on Mercury.
Tate Stevens is signed to RPM (management and records).

It's cool how you got the artists and there labels down. I didn't see Veronica Ballestrini or Samantha Landrum. Veronica is on Timbob Records and Samantha is on Reviver Records.

"Pioneer Music" is Granger's own label. He's distributed through Thirty Tigers. In fact Granger and Kevin's albums have the same designer (who used the same font for part of them) who is likely hired through Thirty Tigers...

Not confirmed, but heard that Scott Borchetta has signed another reality show female in season one XFactor finalist Drew Ryniewicz. She was the artist that was a shock elimination and performed a well received version of Baby for her audition
Wouldn't even post a rumor here normally; but then I went to her twitter feed and she all but confirms it.

According to an article on the Music Row website, the Big Machine Label Group has re-launched Dot Records. Dot will be a joint venture between Big Machine, in Nashville, and Republic Records. I'm excited to see what they're going to do, Scott made a comment about this imprint giving them another opportunity to do whatever they want. I don't know if this has been asked or said...but in the Cover Photo for BMLG whose down in the bottom left corner next to Laura Bell Bundy?

Based on a quick Google image search on Savannah, I think that's her. It certainly looks like her, though pictures of her are not as easy to come by as most already-established artists.

That picture has been in each of the BMLG Cover Photos since January 25, 2013. It looks like Savannah but it seems odd to have her face out there and not actually doing anything with her yet.

» Signage: Sony/Nashville has signed singer/songwriter Josh Dorr to a recording contract. Dorr co-wrote the theme to the Pursuit Channel series Open Season, as well as "I'd Look Good On You," which was featured in USA-TV's Necessary Roughness.
