So while we are on the topic...what do you think of Sara Evans chances of getting signed again?

So while we are on the topic...what do you think of Sara Evans chances of getting signed again? I could see her being signed somewhere eventually, but I don't know how active she is in trying to make that happen (at least right now). I think getting dropped from RCA was probably a pretty unexpected shock for her brought on by the regime change because she had been, and looked to continue to be, sitting pretty at her label for years to come with mostly free reign to do what she wanted. From what I understood, she had a very strong relationship with her longtime label that seemed willing to work with her on being the kind of artist she wants to be, which is one that takes her time putting out new music. A prospective label will have to work with her on that because she has a work ethic that is (at least now in her later years post- Real Fine Place) different from other artists, and I think she's about done as a viable radio artist now with RCA cutting the chord (sad as that is to say) because of her age and being a female. She lasted a bit longer than most of the peers from her heyday (like Trisha, Lee Ann, Martina, Faith, Jo Dee, etc.), but she's definitely getting to that place where her career will probably take a different approach, though I do think Sara Evans still has the drive and hunger to want radio success (as oppose to an "might as well hang it up I guess"), so it'll be interesting to see how that all unfolds. Regardless of what happens, I do really look forward to seeing what she does and getting new music from her. I imagine I'll be waiting longer than I'd like to, but I am certainly very much excited for it.

If Southern Belle was a big hit, Scotty McCreery would still be on Mercury Records. Someone will snap him up.

Four years ago if you would have told me Scotty McCreery would be dropped by his label before Lauren Alaina I would have laughed at you.

I remember Mercury and Toby Keith had a "bitter divorce" too back the day. They didn't believe in the HDYLMN album he had just recorded and that it could take him to Arena level. Toby bought the album back and took it to a smaller label, Dreamworks, and the rest is history. I would love to see history repeat itself with Scotty. He has some great new material recorded and I have heard from a "source" he still owns the rights through his personal publishing company (Blue Crew Productions) and can release these songs elsewhere. Who knows what will happen with Scotty, but he's 22 and true Country to his core, so the sky is the limit for him.

Kristian Bush has been signed to production, label and publishing deals with BBR Music Group. His label is Wheelhouse. He, like David Fanning, will produce records for other acts.

This ad in tonight's Billboard Country Update has me wondering if The Band Perry is no longer with BMLG/Republic Nashville.. There are 5 acts currently on Republic Nashville: Florida Georgia Line, The Band Perry, Cassadee Pope, A Thousand Horses, and Brett Young. Yet The Band Perry is the only one missing from this ad. Granted, all 4 of the pictured artists have singles out or about to be released, so that might be why they left The Band Perry off. Still, usually these types of ads (especially around CRS) feature all the artists on a particular label, whether or not they have a current single..

John Espositio (Warner Nashville President/CEO), Randy Goodman (Sony Nashville Chairman/CEO), Bill Hendrich (Executive Vice President of Radio at Cox Media Group) and Rod Phillips (Senior VR of Programming at iHeart Country), talked about breaking in new artists and Country radio at CRS: Music Row

So would that be because The Band Perry actually like their original sound and aren't willing to change for Scott OR their new sound is actually what they love and Scott realizes it is not a smart business move? No doubt they will find a new deal if this is legit. They have been very successful.

It'd surprise me if The Band Perry was dropped. I know "Live Forever" was a flop in a colossal amount of ways. But there still a recognizable name, and I can't believe one flop would cause them to be dropped. Unless it was more of a mutual agreement.

I have a feeling that this new sound and new look was The Band Perry's decision, and not Scott's or anybody else's. I mean, TBP has been playing some of their [awful] new songs at many of their shows...that's not something that Borchetta can force them to do. I think TBP genuinely believes they can be successful with songs like "Put Me In The Game, Coach", and I imagine that that's raised some eyebrows at Big Machine. In other words, Big Machine knows the songs aren't gonna do well, and when an artist starts making music that their label isn't gonna support (because the label doesn't believe in the music and thinks it's genuinely bad), well...

It looks like one of my 2016 predictions (It's #37 in my list of predictions) might be coming true. Streamsound Records appears to be letting go of its entire radio promo team. Yesterday morning it was announced that Streamsound regional Tyler Waugh had joined the new Reviver 1608 imprint, and then later in the day Country Aircheck reported the departure of two more Streamsound regionals as well as their VP of Media Marketing. Here's the blurb from Country Aircheck: And that's on top of the news from a few days ago that the only artist they had any radio success with, Kristian Bush, signed with BBR Music Group/Wheelhouse.

They're done. Everyone (in Nashville) saw this coming before even Kristian. I have roster 'updates' so to speak from AirCheck's CRS mag. I'll send you those lists later. Most of what you have is 100% correct but we do have some roster assignments that were previously unknown.

Whoa... It's very strange if The Band Perry was dropped before Cassadee Pope! Truthfully, they must just have a new deal, they're not the kind of act Big Machine would just drop after all the success they had.
And yeah crap like Put Me In The Game is still being performed... I guess they're just going to ignore the (constructive) criticism.

She has this duet with Chris and then she would have to have another couple dud singles before she gets dropped in my eyes.

If its success doesn't translate into her career though I don't see her being signed for more than one year.

They very well could be though but I definitely see this as a "parting ways" mutually rather than the label cleaning their hands of the artist. It's clear that they have lost their minds though, musically.

There is no confirmation on whether or not The Band Perry has been dropped from BMLG. So, for now, we have to assume that they are still with the label unless we get an official source that tells us otherwise.

Hope they come back around and decide not to record stuff like that ever again but of course I'm sure that would be with another label if it did happen.

Well, Savannah Keyes is still on that roster too, according to Aircheck magazine. Odds are very high that TBP is still on that roster too. Warner has a banner up at CRS that doesn't include their entire roster (but does include promo act Brandy Clark and newcomers walker county). My best guess for TBP is they're revamping stuff and are nowhere near ready. If they did leave the label, it'd be a weird CRS as that would mean a handful of acts left or were dropped around it, the time we usually hear of new acts.

It seems unlikely that The Band Perry was dropped after just one failed single, though something behind the scenes may have happened to further that progress along. I wonder if their absence from that BMLG ad is actually an indication that they plan to pursue pop radio going forward. It wouldn't surprise me given their attitudes in recent months.

What ever happened to Leah Turner? I thought she had a lot of promise and was overall awesome. Her newest song she released a video for "Cowboy's Love" is a great song. Any updates on her? m.youtube.com/watch?v=h9XWNGbv6N8
