What ever happened to Leah Turner? I thought she had a lot of promise and was overall awesome. Her newest song she released a video for "Cowboy's Love" is a great song. Any updates on her? m.youtube.com/watch?v=h9XWNGbv6N8We posted "Cowboy's Love" in the 'Non-Singles and News' thread this past November. Leah was dropped by Sony Nashville a little while after "Pull Me Back" left the charts. She's releasing some new music now independently.

I'm thinking Scotty McCreery's best fit might be Broken Bow Records Music Group. They have been pretty welcoming to those who have been with another label before(Randy Houser, Craig Campbell, Joe Nichols, Trace Adkins, Kristy Lee Cook, Kristian Bush) so they seem like one of those labels who isn't only looking for new artists. They have well established stars like Jason Aldean and other successful artists/rising stars like Dustin Lynch, Randy Houser, Parmalee, Thompson Square, Granger Smith etc. They seem like the type who would let him make the kind of record he wants and release the best singles. I think this would be a great fit for him, and the Wheelhouse records would be great since they need to fill their roster. Just hope he steers clear of Curb.

I'm extremely thrilled and excited to hear about the recent news of Kristian's new record deal with Wheelhouse Records. I'll admit that I have never listened to any of his solo music, but I'm so glad I did because he is really good. I previewed his latest album and "Light It Up" is far and away the best song on it. I find myself bobbing my head along with his music video. I can't wait to hear his new music.

He writes really hooky songs but usually they still have meaning moreso than just being track songs. On a related note, Adam Craig is on Stoney Creek and Runaway June is on Wheelhouse. Also Brandy Clark should probably be on WB Nashville.

Also Brandy Clark should probably be on WB Nashville. Is Brandy signed to both Warner Bros. Los Angeles and now Warner Music Nashville, too, then? Her advertising for "Girl Next Door" also still includes the Slate Creek logo.

Slate Creek is still a label of Hers but more so like blake's label than anything. The deal structure is unknown but it's highly likely brandy signed a 2-3 album deal with them which was partially bought out by WB.

Wow I thought he would never leave Curb. All I can say is finally. Also so happy Turnpike Troubadours are signed to Thirty Tigers.

He's not likely to have any hits anywhere else anyway.

Curb Records kept Steve Holy relevant long past his shelf life, even if he only did get 2 big hits over the course of his career. He would've disappeared never to be heard from again a long, long time ago if it hadn't been for Curb's insistence on keeping artists on their roster forever.

I'm sure the parting between Curb and Steve Holy was mutual. Mike Curb and Steve Holy are very good friends. I think the two decided that it was in their best interest to part since Steve was never going to get radio airplay any longer.
Steve released singles with Curb for 14 years (1999-2013), with just two big hits ("Good Morning Beautiful" and "Brand New Girlfriend"), with a few other top 30 singles.

Besides Lee Brice, who is making Curb money? Curb doesn't seem like there helping the young girls out. Morgan Frazier left Sidewalk late last yr. Rachel Holder (the girl in my pic with me) hasn't had a full studio album out yet. Ashley Gearing either hasn't had studio album out with curb yet. Rodney Atkins faded away along with LeAnn Rimes and Wynonna.

They've actually started to have some mild success with Mo Pitney and now Dylan Scott and are committed to them and these young ladies you mention (along with Ruthie Collins). We'll see what happens but Curb also makes money off of their publishing and partnership with Warner on Word Records/Publishing. They also have a deep catalog from which to mine for profits too (remember all those mcgraw compilations?)

This ad in tonight's Billboard Country Update has me wondering if The Band Perry is no longer with BMLG/Republic Nashville.. I get credit for first picking up on this, right? ;) I'm honestly not that surprised that The Band Perry was apparently let go. I don't think Big Machine liked the direction that they wanted to go in, and while TBP had been successful in the past, it's not as if Borchetta doesn't have a bunch of other successful, money-making artists on his roster. I can only imagine his reaction when he heard "Put Me In The Game, Coach". Well, actually, I can't imagine his reaction. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall. Borchetta said in a media report that some acts were stubborn about some things and that if they're like that, they'll likely be more inclined to fail (or something like that as I'm paraphrasing). There are others who have access to the specific quotes for this. If you're referring to this HITS article from July, I don't think Borchetta was talking about The Band Perry when he hinted that BMLG was done working with an artist. Here's what Borchetta said: The reason I don't think Borchetta was talking about TBP? Later in the article, he was specifically asked about TBP, and this was his response: Furthermore, "Live Forever" was released in August, and the HITS interview came out in early July. So yeah, I think Borchetta was most likely talking about an artist in development (maybe Seth Alley, as you initially suggested during the summer). Seth is apparently no longer there, and while no one has commented officially, I definitely think all signs are pointing to The Band Perry no longer being with BMLG either.

It definitely appears as though the split has occurred, but I am curious why neither BMLG or TBP has made an official statement. Instead TBP has chosen to make veiled comments as to their current status & BMLG has chosen crickets.

The re-uploading of "Live Forever" just happened a few days ago and usually artists don't announce they've split with their label, especially on social media. I would expect an official announcement coming soon in the usual publications (Country Aircheck, Music Row, All Access), if they have in fact parted ways, which is very much looking that way.

Tucker Beathard is NOT on Big Machine Records. He's on Dot according to MPe Delivery today.

Tucker Beathard is NOT on Big Machine Records. He's on Dot according to MPe Delivery today. Which I saw, too. However, he's still under the Big Machine Records imprint on the BMLG website, so I don't know if he's always been with Dot all along or if they swapped him back and forth.

Tucker Beathard is NOT on Big Machine Records. He's on Dot according to MPe Delivery today. When he was signed, the press release did indeed say Dot Records. And he was listed under Dot on the BMLG website. But then a couple months ago they moved him from Dot to Big Machine (on the BMLG website, that is). That's where the source of the confusion is coming from.

I have a feeling the confusion is most likely because he'll get crossover attention (with Rock/Alternative?) and when/if he does, it'll be via Big Machine's work with Republic Records out of NY.

He'll have to see a little success on Country radio before that happens, I think. Is the label actively pushing him to other formats eventually, or is that just a hunch?

It appears that David Fanning has been dropped by BBRMG, as he is no longer listed on the Stoney Creek roster at the BBRMG website.

Well, this comes as no surprise to me; he might have more success as a songwriter. Any news on James Wesley? Is he done with BBRMG as well or is he still hanging on because of Benny Brown?

Really great/interesting Billboard article on Randy Goodman and Sony Nashville:
Dang, that 3rd to last paragraph...I wonder what artist and manager Goodman was referring to? My guess would be either Josh Dorr and his manager or Steven Lee Olsen and his manager, although I suppose Jerrod Niemann is another possibility.
