I'm not holding my breath on this hitting #1 on Country though, unless Big Machine really starts pushing this in the next 2-3 weeks. Never doubt Big Machine...

They released The Moment I Knew, which is a deluxe track from Red, as a single on Itunes tonight. Sign that this is the next country single?

Whether it is the next country single or not, those BB gurus will probably classify it as country which means this song will debut at #2 or #3 on that mongrel chart despite zero airplay and streaming.

This has been doing quite well the past week. You think? I wouldn't say it's doing poorly, but everyone else in the top 15 has done better (with the exception of Justin, Kip, and Kenny, but those 3 have already peaked). Taylor has only gained 850k over the last 4 days. Compare that to songs around her...The Band Perry is up 3.1 million, Tim McGraw is up 1.8 million, Dierks and Little Big Town are both up more than 1.6 million. Carrie is up more than 2 million. Then you've got a whopping 4.4 million gain for Jason and he's got less ground to go until he hits the top. The only other artist in the top 15 that hasn't gained 1 million so far this week is Hunter--he's at about 900k, pretty much right in line with Taylor. "Begin Again" is going up but it's in a shark tank in which all the others are swimming faster right now.

I wonder why Big Machine hasn't given this the BIG push they usually do with her singles. Maybe they're waiting for Jason Aldean & The Band Perry to hit #1 first and then they'll do it. It's #8 on Billboard Country Airplay this week with 25.179 AI and it had a 1.206 increase this week. The #1 currently has 36.063 AI. Maybe they'll wait till it crosses the 30 million mark in 3-4 weeks before pushing it?

It's still moving along, slowly but surely. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave it a push into the top 5 and moved on.

Personally, I'm wondering if they're waiting for "I Knew You Were Trouble" to peak on CHR, so that they can send out a multi-format single at the same time next. If that's indeed the case, then I think it makes sense to stretch out "Begin Again"'s run for as long as possible.

Well "I Knew You Were Trouble" is #1 on Pop right now. It will probably spend a few weeks at #1 there because its still gaining and there is no immediate threat behind it. But I'd give it 4 weeks max before it starts falling. I don't think "Begin Again" can hit #1 on the country airplay chart by that timeframe. They could hold off a couple weeks after IKYWT is done to release a new single to Pop though, which would probably align pretty close to when BA should be done on radio.
If a dual release to Pop and Country is in Taylor's cards for the next single, I'm sure it will be the title track. I wish "All Too Well" would get released to Country though.

Country radio is already playing "All Too Well" (it debuted on Country Airplay a few weeks ago). I wish they'd release that next (and "22" to pop) and then do "Red" after that.

I think saying that country radio is playing "All Too Well" is a bit of a stretch. It was only 1 station, KMLE here in Phoenix, and they've been playing a lot of album cuts including Jason Aldean's "Night Train", Eric Church's "Keep On", and ZBB's "Jump Right In". Some of these (most likely the ZBB tune) will likely be singles but haven't been released yet. On the contrary, Eric Church's song is NOT the single; "Like Jesus Does" is, and it's already almost top 40 with adds date on the 28th. KMLE played ATW more than 50 times during the week of the 7th through the 13th and they're a big enough station that that amount of spins caused it to debut at #58 but it only spent one week on the chart. Now, KMLE is no longer playing the song and no other station has played it yet either.

I think I'm starting to like this song now after being indifferent to it for the past several weeks. Still not expecting a #1 out of this, though.

Thanks for the explanation. I still want All Too Well next though. Oh, I definitely agree. I was just saying that I don't think there's any evidence (yet) that ATW is the front-runner for her next country single. However, with me being in college down here, it was awesome turning on the radio 2 weeks ago and hearing it a few times :) According to Jamie O'Neal that place don't exist.] Ha! Good one! That was a great song by Jamie...but I am glad that Arizona actually DOES exist :)

Yeah, it's still holding in there, but it's not gaining much. She spent 4 straight weeks at #10 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, then moved up to #8 last week and spends a 2nd week at #8 tonight. Her gain for the week wound up being only 400k, which is a little lower than I thought it would be, based off how she did on Mediabase last week. She did pass the Zac Brown Band (they actually went recurrent on Billboard, a week earlier than they should have for some odd reason), but Dierks Bentley got ahead. I'd guess Taylor can pass Randy Houser next week, but she's less than half a million ahead of Little Big Town, only 2 million ahead of Carrie Underwood, and only 2.5 million ahead of Hunter Hayes. So I really don't know if BA can get much higher than where it is now (#8 on Billboard, #7 on Mediabase). Maybe Big Machine can keep this one in there for a couple more weeks yet but for every spot it gains, I think it'll just get passed by one of those 3 songs right behind her.

There's now a scenario in place where this song could sneak out a top 5 peak. She's had a great week, gaining 1.7 million out of the blue in the last 4 days, after BA had been treading water for a few weeks. She got back ahead of Dierks Bentley last week, and she'll finish this week at #7 on Billboard. If she can manage one more bullet next week, I think she can hit #5 by passing both Gary Allan and Jason Aldean. The top 10 on Monday should look something like this:
1) TBP 2) Brad 3) Tim 4) Jason 5) Gary 6) LBT 7) Taylor 8) Dierks 9) Carrie 10) Hunter
I don't see Dierks getting back ahead of Taylor and again, if Taylor can manage one more bullet next week, she should be able to stay ahead of Carrie, Hunter, and Blake. LBT will take Gary's top 5 spot, and Taylor would be able to take Jason's spot. It all depends on Taylor though...she's set to gain almost 2 million on Billboard this week. Can she manage one more gain after this?

^ Fingers crossed!
With news that "22" is next for pop, that makes me think "Red" won't be next for country. I'm kinda getting the feeling they might go with "Come Back... Be Here," which I would be happy with, but I'm still hoping for "All too Well."

Maybe Big Machine will make a push for this to hit #1 the week after Tim. At the very least that could get it to #2 or #3.

^I personally don't see that happening. She'll be about 9 million away from #1 come Monday, and there's no push in the world that can get someone 9 million in a week. I don't think radio would go along with it either. The labels do tend to push a bit toward the end but not nearly that much...an extreme push might end in a gain of 3-4 million. With the way this one has moved up the chart, I don't suddenly see Big Machine pushing it to #1, as I actually think that would hurt Taylor's reputation a bit.

I hope "Stay, Stay, Stay" is next. With her releasing the poppiest single ("22"), I could see them going with the countriest to offset it. At least, that's what I hope happens. On a side note, I'm a little surprised that "I Knew You Were Trouble" hasn't at least grazed the bottom of the country chart. I know there's really nothing country about it, but I thought that it being Taylor, and one of the biggest hits out there right now, it would at least garner some curiosity spins.

^^^^^I agree with this; gaining 9,000,000 AIs in a week would undoubtedly rattle a ton of PDs after her last single's episode.
If Tim gets two weeks at #1, then does Taylor or LBT follow him to #1?
I also enjoy Phoenix; it's a wonderful city with two country radio powerhouses, and the French Toast at Crackers & Co. Cafe in Mesa is wonderful!

If Brad/TBP gets #1 this weekend, and then TBP, Tim, Tim for the next 3 weeks, and THEN Taylor or LBT?? I would think that Taylor's song is done by then, being 4+ weeks later.

I don't think The Band Perry Plus Tim will get more than two weeks combined (after this one. I assume tBP has Billboard already). Could be Tim or tBP next week and then surely Tim after that. LBT appears to be in line and within striking distance if they can put up 3 consistent gains. Taylor would probably have to wait until after that, but I dont see this lovely song lasting that long unfortunately. I dont want to speculate too far beyond what seems to be the "current line" for #1, but Carrie and many many others will be coming up fast from behind.
So, this probably wont be #1, but it should easily be a top 5 soon as jholmes stated. Even top 3 seems possible if songs begin to drop quickly.
EDIT: I think I misread your post. I thought you were giving Tim 3 or even 4 weeks. Still, it would be nice if Taylor beat out LBT, but I dont expect that.
