HOLY JUMP BATMAN Hits jumps over 300% in Canada to go from 103 to #15, the peak of the album actually. The album sold over 2000 copies this week and has hit 51,000 total. It was a big week for Hits cds this past week as Bon Jovi also saw a similar jump. Must of been a sale! The album in US drops to #98 Do you know the total US sales? I'm hoping it can reach 500K by years end.

Billboard posted an article this week, naming 'People' as the biggest surprise flop of the summer, acknowledging that it "quite likely could have been number one" one year ago: linkI regret to see this article but I'm fine because we had already had another official video at least. Anyway, it's better than nothing happened. :'(

lol. Opening for Maroon 5 was Kelly Clarkson. The season 1 American Idol winner seemed a perfect fit for the tour and brought a feminine touch to the show. Though she has come a long way since her days on Idol, Clarkson isn't quite polished yet and she admits it. "I definitely don't have much grace," she said, after accidentally spitting on a fan while she was singing. Her openness makes her more likeable but she did have a tendency to ramble a bit and get off subject during her set. If you put that aside, her singing was near perfect and she seemed to enjoy working up the crowd before Maroon 5 hit the stage.

The concert was great, Rozzi Crane has a fantastic voice. Kelly was phenomenal as always, the new back-up singers and subtle changes to the arrangements were an added bonus. I wish Kelly's set was longer. I also wish Kelly went after Maroon5. They were great, but coming off of Kelly's high energy set they were a bit boring almost.
The meet and greet was awesome, she's super down to earth. She talked to both of us individually and then again together. She's super sweet, very touchy feely and thanks you by name for coming. It was a surreal experience, and not what you'd expect at all from one of the best and biggest in the business. Also, holy hell is she tiny. I'm 6'0 and towered over her !

What a lousy, lazy piece of review writing.

Her wardrobe? Her setlist? not enough song rehearsal? idk. But she does ramble too much, that's been something critics have pointed out in her own shows.

The bolded parts was said many many years ago of another flawless singer she never quite gained that polish but she did quite good for herself and so will Kelly.

^ Mimi...she always rambles on with her fans on stage in adorable fashion like Kelly, both have been criticized for lacking stage presence and both have been deemed to be perfect vocalist.

Really. I didn't know that. I've never been to a Mariah concert. I find the rambling and down to earth interaction and attention to fans in concert very endearing and I think that it helps in the long run to maintain a strong and devoted fandom.

Kelly's rambling is part of the KC concert experience. She's hilarious and I love her interactions with her fans. I hope she never becomes "polished" and one of those celebrities who's so perfect it's boring.
I was a little iffy about her touring with Maroon 5 but I've had friends go to the concerts for Maroon 5 and they ended up being really impressed with Kelly and becoming fans. So hopefully this tour will create more fans.

Yeah, if Kelly was 'polished' she wouldn't be Kelly anymore. It's not really something to work on, it's her genuine personality.

Guys.
I. Met. Her.
I'm in white, and my fiancé is wearing the cone T. The adorable gal in the middle? Well:
I don't have the words now. I'll try and put more together later. Long story short: our friend is part of her crew and totally hooked us up.
She was...perfect.

Kelly was epic last night, as expected. I feel like I say this everytime I go to a Kelly concert (last one was Stronger tour at Radio city) but this was the best I've ever heard her sing. She completely destroyed Walk Away and Miss Independent. She was WAIIIIIIILLLING like crazy at the end of both songs and seemed even surprised with herself. She said something like "I don't know what's happening right now" almost in shock that she just went there.

Nugget from my meet 'n' greet experience. I told her that my favorite song is 'Maybe,' and she told me that she actually wrote that about Brandon back in the day. It makes sense, since the lyrics are all about looking forward to a time when you might get to really know someone that you've just met but that you can't really get too close to now. I thought that was a pretty neat detail. It also supports the notion that she crushed on him as soon as they met. So adorbz.

Maybe, about Brandon? I'd have never guessed that. Brings a whole new perspective to the song now. But LOL at her writing all of that about him while he was married.

Last night was my 7th time seeing Kelly. As previously reported, her vocals were out-of-this-world insane. She absolutely crushed Walk Away, People Like Us, Because of You, and Miss Independent (along with her entire set, of course.) Definitely the best I've heard of the 7 concerts I've seen. The whole black light set up during People Like Us was SUCH a great experience. I'm used to her adorable rambling, but I'm pretty sure she was drunk this time, LMAO.
That being said, I'm sad to say it was my least-favorite of the 7 shows I've seen. Being the "special guest" for Maroon 5 really didn't work (at least for this show)...she's not even listed on the actual ticket. From my vantage point, she was working so hard to get the crowd pumped, and it was like she was singing to a brick wall. I was one of very few people I saw standing up during the uptempo songs, and no one seemed to be interested in her set. The crowd came to life during Maroon 5, so it seems clear that the majority of people are just going to the Honda Civic Tour see them, although it really is basically a double-header. I saw her co-headline with The Fray last year twice, and the crowd was totally pumped for her. I was shocked...even during SUBG, I looked around and only about a third of the people were on their feet.
Of course, none of that is Kelly's fault. I just had very different expectations from her past shows. As I said, she herself was energetic, adorable, hilarious, and perfect.

Ace that's kind of a bummer. But it isn't surprising that would happen at at least one show...I know when I saw her quite a few people left after Kelly instead of sticking around for The Fray. That is the downside for two well-known acts pairing up, you basically are dealing with two different fanbases and it can dampen the mood if one fanbase is much more present than the other. freakshow I am completely unsurprised! My friend and I have always been convinced that "Dirty Little Secret" and/or "If I Can't Have You" were inspired by him and now I just feel more validated for that thought. Naughty girl! (before someone accuses me of calling Kelly a homewrecker, I am not claiming that she actually acted on any of those thoughts) I agree that it does bring a whole new perspective both to the song and the album as a whole...if I'm not mistaken the track listing for MD is chronological, except for "Irvine"/"Chivas"? I could be wrong about that, but if not that absolutely explains "Maybe" being immediately followed by "How I Feel" and really makes me wonder what "Yeah" and "Can I Have a Kiss" are all about as well.

Her "Tie It Up" performance on the CMA Fest airs tonight on ABC. Will be curious to see if this does anything for the song.

Because the people around me were not there for Kelly at all. I was practically the only person standing in my section along with a friend and a few others around me but half the audience was sitting down. During her first outfit change, I heard one person behind me say "That's it?" The PLU production was incredible though - probably my favorite part of her set along with the new BTHE arrangement and that introduction video before she went on stage. Kelly was on point last night and I'm so happy I went but the concert experience would have been a little better if more people were into her and actually showed it.

Just talked to my friend and she reminded me that Kelly first saw/met Brandon in May 2006 at the ACMs...so "Irvine" and "Chivas" may not actually be out of order after all. omg this puts MD in a whole new light for me
