No to Ke$ha. Just because she's dance doesn't mean her sound was influenced by Donna or Whitney. I like K-Money but I do NOT want to hear her singing any Donna or Whitney. It's more than enough that I'll be sitting through Miley doing it. The Kellys, Ciara, Melanie, and Jordin all make sense. Miley and Demi don't to me, because I don't really hear any Donna or Whitney influence in their music. Of course, we know that has little to do with how these singers are selected. The Whitney and Donna tributes are going to be separate from the rest of the show, which is honoring dance divas past and present.

Adam Lambert should perform *-* I'm fairly sure he will... he'll probably be singing during his monologue.

I wonder if they ask bigger artist and get turned down or if they legitimately think this lineup is good.

Yesss to Natasha performing and NeNe being there. Smart of them to get Keri again, someone will need to clean up afterwards. When your biggest and only star is Kelly Clarkson you know your in trouble.

This is starting to sound like a bit of a circus with these latest additions.

If seems that they are just making out random ass calls to PR reps and grasping to anybody that says yes.

I'd like to take that as a "when your biggest and only star is Kelly Clarkson, you know you're in trouble because all the other acts will be overshadowed by Kelly and her massive talent and star power."

Same. But let's be honest, when has VH1 Divas ever been relevant? lol It was about 13-14 years ago when they first started these concerts which involved past, present, and future divas. They kept up the quality for those first few years. Then gradually it has devolved into show featuring an American Idol winner headlining with dozens of less successful singers who can't even get an audience at a Walmart parking lot.

1999 wasn't half bad either. Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Cher, Elton John, Chaka Khan. Also Mary J. Blige, Brandy, Faith Hill, and LeAnn Rimes as the "newer" performers (and couple of them had been around several years already). It started going downhill a bit around 2000, but they still had Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Mariah Carey, and Faith Hill. It's been a joke since they revived it in 2009. Now it's almost entirely newer performers.

Yeah, the first one was epic and classic. The two that followed were also great. But everything afterwards has been a joke compare to those first 3 shows.

new performers are okay. but is it divas OF dance or a dedication to DIVAS of DANCE. i dunno. i find the line up to be embarrassing. Kelly Clarkson, Kelly Rowland and Ciara (dance) i get. but why not Janet Jackson?
to me the perfect line up would be.... (newer and older divas)
Janet Jackson Gloria Estefan (new album out, dance music) Brandy Kelly Rowland Ciara Kelly Clarkson Kesha (new album very dancy) Cher (new dance album coming) Robyn Nelly Furtado
so many divas out now, who have never been on the show or have new albums out and would fit.

It started going downhill a bit around 2000, but they still had Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Mariah Carey, and Faith Hill. It's been a joke since they revived it in 2009. Now it's almost entirely newer performers. Yeah, but I don't really think the show's conceit works as well nowadays anyway. I mean, if their lineup was Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, and Adele, that would at least be popular females with strong voices, but people would still whine that they aren't legends in the same way that Aretha, Whitney, Mariah, etc. are. But, I think if they got a show starring Aretha, Mariah, Celine, Patti, etc., people wouldn't be all that excited about it, either. It's just sort of an archaic idea at this point. It worked well in the 90s because it was new, so you could have generations of established, legendary acts and newer, popular ones like Mariah/Whitney/Celine because that style of "diva"-esque singing was popular; now, not nearly as much. So while this set of performers is a particularly far fall for the show, I think they were facing an uphill battle to make it relevant again at all. That said, I thought the soul show last year was pretty good and featured a strong variety of newer and seasoned singers, even if they weren't all household names.

I'd be okay with them letting Adam sing for an hour and telling the girls to go home.

Lambert has been doing the promo rounds for VH1 Diva and I'm looking forward to it. LIVE too. I always remember the Divas specials being pre-recorded. Is this the legitimate first live airing of the show?

Kelly Clarkson slaying vocally with a song that doesn't require her to move much.
