“DIVAS” Dance Party To Include Tribute to Legends Whitney Houston and Donna Summer NEW YORK, NY –November 8, 2012 – VH1’s beloved, popular franchise “VH1 Divas” is throwing the hottest dance party of 2012 LIVE on Sunday, December 16 at 9PM/8c with Grammy Award-nominated host Adam Lambert. This year’s show will celebrate the dance-inducing music that is the vibrant soundtrack to every major blowout bash, unforgettable party and night out on the town.VH1 is bringing together Ciara, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland and Jordin Sparks to pay homage to the greatest divas of dance music with performances featuring current and classic dance hits. “This is going to be one hell of a party! We are extremely thrilled to have the extraordinarily talented Adam Lambert as our 2012 VH1 Divas host, says Lee Rolontz, EVP, Original Music Production & Development, VH1 and VH1 Classic. “The world has truly been inspired by dance music and what better way for VH1 to pay tribute than by honoring legends Whitney Houston and Donna Summer through song and dance.” “I'm so thrilled to be hosting VH1 Divas this year," said Adam Lambert. "I have a feeling it's going to be the most fabulous concert of the year! And LIVE!! Get ready for some amazing performances, killer fashion and fierce divas!" “VH1 Divas” will bring together some of today’s hottest recording artists for the years biggest dance party. In the spirit of celebration and appreciation VH1 Divas will include a tribute to two divas we lost this past year, whose voices always lead us straight to the dance floor, Whitney Houston and Donna Summer. Additional performers, presenters, special guests and sponsors will be announced as they are confirmed. Full article: tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2012/11/08/vh1-divas-hit-the-dance-floor-with-grammy-award-nominated-host-adam-lambert/156663/lol @ Ciara and Kelly Rowland. Jordin, Demi, and Miley are relevant enough, although they don't quite meet the diva status. Jordin and Miley have been on the program before. Definitely excited for Adam Lambert as the host! A diva in his own right.

It's like they made this lineup just for me. They're gonna slay, especially Demi and Kelly.
And I don't understand your logic. Miley and Jordin are relevant enough, yet they haven't seen the top of any billboard chart in over two years, while Kelly had the #1 urban song of 2011.

Motivation did really well on Urban radio, but none of the other singles from the album made much of an impact. I guess I was just speaking of relevance in more of a mainstream sense--not musically.

Remember when VH1 had actual divas? :'( Surely Chaka Khan, Dionne Warwick, and Mary J. aren't too busy with their schedules to appear here too?

They're using this lineup for a Whitney & Donna tribute? I hope it's untelevised again like the 2010 show was.

Remember when VH1 had actual divas? :'( The first 2 shows were legendary, and they were actual divas. Now it seems that VH1 is defining a diva as just any female singer, and with Ciara in the mix, they may be stretching the definition even further.

I'm assuming the Whitney tribute will feature surprise guests right? Cause...I mean, where are the legendary divas?
Chaka, Anita, Patti, Mary, Gladys, Celine, Mariah, somebody???. I forget this isn't the 90s.

lol @ Ciara and Kelly Rowland. Leave it up to a white person to single out these two.

Ironically, Ciara is the only real dance "diva" on the list. This line-up seriously looks like Corin's doing though

Well we do have a scarcity of Divas and it seems like this show has gone to d-lists unlike before when you have Celine, Mariah, Whitney, Aretha, Shania etc and now the best you get is Miley

Remember when VH1 had actual divas? :'( Remember when the music industry had actual divas? That's the main issue, there is just a dearth right now of some legit SANGAS, even more so when you restrict it to 'relevant' artists. As for year's show, at least they are somewhat going back to the original "Divas" format, where the show was centered around honoring a particular legendary artist (or in this case, two). I'm SO glad they are mentioning Whitney and dance in the same sentence! Please don't stick Jordin with a Whitney ballad, that is predictable and I want to see Whitney's uptempos recognized more this time. The lineup is pretty C to D-list all around. It is definitely not accurate to only call out Ciara and Kelly for that, and I say that as someone who is a casual fan of all five of the artists named. Speaking of Ciara and Kelly though, this is actually a very nice score. Their management is stepping up, maybe? I was going to say that Kelly is probably going to absolutely slay on a Donna Summer song, but on second thought they may have her sing something by Whitney, b/c she and Jordin are the two out of these five most capable of tackling that vocal beast. Demi's got pipes too but I don't know if her voice is particularly well-suited to covering Whitney. I can't wrap my head around how Miley's going to fit in at all though.

If you add them all up you get one legit Diva, maybe. The best one of the bunch is Ciara she can bring the house down with her performance, i don't care for Miley, Jordin and Demi.

Haha, every year Vh1 Divas Live becomes more tragic.
I don't understand why they continue to make this an annual offering.

Kelly and Jordin are as close as they can get to divas. LOL at Adam being added in. It's very telling that those traditional divas like Aretha, Celine, Chaka, Cher, Diana, Gloria, Mariah, Mary J., Patti, etc. are nowhere to be found in the lineups. They don't want to associate themselves with a hot mess like this show. It's only the desperate, attention-seeking ones who are doing this show. Haha, every year Vh1 Divas Live becomes more tragic. I don't understand why they continue to make this an annual offering. It's really sad.

The only one that's had a hit recently is Lamo Levato. I guess Kelly's "Ice" is doing okay at Urban but that wouldn't really be the VH1 audiance. This line up is kind of embarassing for VH1 and I kinda like some of the artists participating so far. This line up is as uneventful as the yr they had Keri Hilson and Nicki Minaj on the line up.

They always announce the "current" acts, and they bring in the more established. But I agree that this music scene just doesn't have the same focus on "divas" of the Mariah/Whitney/Celine variety, let alone the Aretha/Patti/Gladys/Chaka variety. I thought the Soul one last year was better than the previous years, though.

OMFG at the line up?? THEY ARE NOT DIVAS!!!!! They are really having Ciara? Demi? Kellys? WTF?? This is so sad and almost disrespectful to have these women pay tribute to Whitney Houston. SMH OH wait I almost forgot Miley Cyrus. REALLY???? This is so Horrible. Just because you have a vagina and can KIND OF sing in tune DOES NOT MAKE YOU A DIVA!!!!!!
