He sounds so ridiculous with these "real R&B" comments considering he's put out some of the most generic R&B and pop music of the past couple of years. He admits that some of his own music is "gimmicky," but in that case, this really shows how little control he has over his own career and music if he doesn't like that kind of music (the kind he records) and wishes "real R&B" would come back. CHRIS BROWN WANTS ‘REAL MUSIC’ TO MAKE A COMEBACKChris Brown may have lost in his category at the Grammys, but he wasn’t feeling sorry for himself. Instead, the R&B superstar gave props to his fellow nominee Miguel and weighed in on the state of music. During the pre-show, Breezy co-signed Miguel, who he was up against in the category of Best Urban Contemporary Album (Frank Ocean won the award). “I think he’s had a great and wonderful year,” he told Ryan Seacrest on “E! News.” “To be from an R&B-kinda background, he’s taken that and he’s doing his thing.” Breezy hopes that music is headed in a more authentic direction. “A lot of the music nowadays, I love it, but it’s very gimmicky. Even some of my music is gimmicky,” he laughed. “But I just want to go back to the real music—a lot of instruments, the real band, essence of being able to perform and be an entertainer.” He also downplayed the car accident that he had over the weekend. “It’s cool, I’m fine. A litte bit of bumps, I’m good though,” said Chris. “The paparazzi tend to get out of hand. It’s all good though.” www.rap-up.com/2013/02/11/chris-brown-wants-real-music-to-make-a-comeback/

I find that anyone with a concept of 'real music' shouldn't be allowed to record music.

i feel like "real music" is gimmicky now lol. Since Adele exploded, the shift from electronic dance to "real music" started. Don't get me wrong there's plenty of dance tracks out there that are super popular, but the big pop stars have stated that they want to make "real music" and get back to that. Beyonce & Justin apparently are doing it on their albums and Katy Perry made a comment about it as well when Taylor Swift released "Begin Again."

He came off really well in this interview. Very mature answers. But his PR people and management will get him to say almost anything to clean up his image. He used gay slurs as early as several weeks ago. He hasn't grown in the last few weeks. Please. This is Chris Brown. He'll say anything. Exactly. Anything that would help him get into the good graces of the record-buying public. i feel like "real music" is gimmicky now lol. I feel that Chris jumped on the Dance/Electronic bandwagon after having done mostly R&B and Hip Hop before as D/E was becoming hot. Some of his singles have still done fine but his album sales have really suffered. I agree that he needs to go back to what he used to do.

He started doing the whole dance thing with "Forever" though before it was hot. He was already going in that direction, especially on the Graffiti album.

TMZ has obtained NEW VIDEO of the Chris Brown valet incident ... in which it's clear -- BROWN THREATENED THE VALET.
The new footage shows Chris cussing at the valet in front of PINZ bowling alley in Studio City, CA -- where Brown had just attended a charity event for inner city youth.
The valet had asked for the $10 fee before handing Brown the keys -- but Chris refused to pay because he was only at the event for a short time and didn't feel it was fair.
Chris exploded in anger ... getting right in the valet's face and yelling, "Gimme my f*cking keys ... f*ck ten dollars."
Then comes the threat -- "Gimme my keys ... we gonna turn this whole spot up ... I promise you."
Translation -- WE'LL GET VIOLENT IF YOU DON'T HAND OVER THE KEYS.
That's when someone from Brown's camp appears to give the valet $10 ... and Brown snatches his keys back and says, "Funky ass ten dollars."

He seriously has some issues. Ive always supported him and felt him gets handed a raw deal BUT its clear he has anger issues. If he doesnt get help soon he is going to jail.

But hasn't he "grown up?" It's really tragic that someone who is so talented and has been given a second chance with his music and his woman, isn't able to get the help he needs. It's just weird coming right on the heels of RiRi's big interview about him.

He shot a video yesterday for a song called "Fine China." It's supposedly the first single from "X."

I feel like he should've taken a break to get his personal life together but I hope the single is good. his last album was lacking.

If he's doing some serious R&B music, I maybe really interested & actually invest in this era. I wouldn't mind hearing some Pop material if they have high quality.

CHRIS BROWN CALLS ON RIHANNA, KENDRICK LAMAR FOR ‘X’Chris Brown is leaving the drama behind and focusing on his music. The R&B superstar has previewed new material from his upcoming sixth album X, which includes collaborations with Rihanna and Kendrick Lamar. The 23-year-old singer has enlisted hitmakers Polow Da Don, Timbaland, Pharrell, Drumma Boy, and Danja for the project, which marks a departure from his past work. “I tried to stay away from the Euro beats, and not go totally pop,” he told Rolling Stone at a listening session in L.A. “Instead, I wanted to take the Quincy Jones approach. The record pays homage to the Stevie Wonders, the Michael Jacksons, the Sam Cookes: I wanted to put that classic essence of R&B and soul with the new age of music now. There’s a lot of live instruments, and a lot less Auto-Tune. I really wanted to demonstrate my vocal ability, creating the vibe of me singing along with a band.” Kendrick Lamar will be featured on the somber ballad “Autumn Leaves.” “I wanted to—not rattle the hip-hop world, but have people appreciate [that choice] like, ‘I didn’t expect that, but dang, that’s dope,’” he said. “I picked Kendrick because his subject matter as a lyricist is beyond everybody else’s. There’s a substance to what he says. It’s also fun to experience the ambitions and aspirations of a younger artist who’s just learning how the game works.” He has also recorded another duet with his on-again girlfriend Rihanna, but he’s unsure if it will make the cut. “When we did ‘Nobody’s Business’ we actually did another song for my album called ‘Put It Up,’” he told the Los Angeles Times. “I wanted to do an R&B record with Rihanna. I didn’t want to do the pop stuff, I wanted to do something that people aren’t used to hearing.” Other tracks include the autobiographical club banger “X,” produced by Diplo, electro jam “Lady in the Glass Dress,” and “Add Me In,” an uptempo record helmed by Danja. The first single, “Fine China,” is described as a “retro-dipped R&B love ode” and was produced by Leon “RoccStar” Youngblood Jr. It is set for release on April 1, while X is due later this summer. www.rap-up.com/2013/03/27/chris-brown-calls-on-rihanna-kendrick-lamar-for-x/

Chris wait, you're going more R&B for this one? This could be great if the material is solid and he handles it properly.
This line right here sold it for me: "..lot less Auto-Tune. I really wanted to demonstrate my vocal ability, creating the vibe of me singing along with a band." So glad he's ditching the excess Auto-Tune.
