This piqued my interest:
Pharrell was even in the studio during the listening with Wiz.

I'll probably hate myself for loving this, but if that is the case it won't really be a surprise. One of the reasons his antics aggravate me so much is because I think he is really talented. The only thing holding him back from greatness is his own foolishness. (That doesn't include the interview with Ryan, obviously)

www.rap-up.com/2013/03/29/chris-brown-talks-drake-and-frank-ocean-beefs-tupac-comparisons/Chris Brown has been everywhere this week. He capped off his press blitz with a return visit to “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” on Power 106 on Friday. Breezy spoke about his new album X, due in June or July, his beefs with Drake and Frank Ocean, being compared to Tupac, and collaborating with Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez. On his relationship with Drake: “It’s not entertainment for me. It’s just more of me being real, saying what I gotta say. I ain’t out here trying to go at him, I ain’t got people after him. I have my differences and he has his. His music’s still hot.” On his fight with Frank Ocean: “Some stuff went down, but it’s whatever. It’s always sensationalized and always blown out of proportion. I got respect for his music. I got respect for everybody else, so I ain’t really tryna go back down that route. Everything for me is moving forward.” On collaborating with Rihanna: “Right now, I have a couple songs that I wrote for her album and mine that she’s featured on. The song’s called ‘Put It Up.’” On comparisons to Tupac: “I just identify with a young black male who deals with trials and tribulations and can express his art through his poetry. I’m passionate so I can identify with that. Everything I do, I wear my heart on my sleeve.” On working with Jennifer Lopez: “I’m just writing for her album. I got a couple other songs on my album that would be a great girl feature, especially for me and J.Lo. I just want to do a dope dance video with me and her.”

^ Even his personal life is trash compared to the lovable mess Tupac could be, main difference is we love him we don't love you Chris.

k. ------------------------------------ www.rap-up.com/2013/04/01/chris-brown-talks-rihanna-and-karrueche-turning-down-oprah-his-legacy-with-angie-martinez/#more-153976A year ago, Chris Brown had sworn off interviews, but now he’s everywhere and telling all. The R&B superstar sat down with Angie Martinez on Hot 97 for yet another promo stop on his road to X. No topic was off limits—from his love triangle with Rihanna and Karrueche Tran to his beefs with Drake and Frank Ocean to why he won’t do an interview with Oprah. A carefree Chris also shared his plans to shoot 10 music videos and release them by the time his sixth album drops in July or August. Read highlights from their candid conversation below. On why he put out a video last fall addressing his love triangle with Rihanna and Karrueche: “I wanted to be more of a man. Me being young, even with relationships in the past, I did a lot of lying, I did everything just to make sure nobody gets hurt in the process. I just don’t feel it’s necessary anymore in my life. Nobody can hate me for being honest. I had to just be brutal. I told both of them that the video was coming out. … I’m not trying to be a player. It’s never an easy situation to tell another person that you still love another person, so that’s kinda difficult. But our friendship, me and Karrueche’s friendship, is still cool. We’re still good friends.” On whether Rihanna is cool with him being friends with Karrueche: “Yeah, to a degree…” On Drake: “Me and him don’t see eye to eye. We never gonna see eye to eye, so you go your way, I’ma go mine.” On whether Rihanna has issues with Drake: “I don’t really try to talk about him when I’m around her. I just lay the pipe.” On Frank Ocean: “I think it’s a lot of strategies people try to use when they’re up for awards. It’s a sympathy role. I don’t have to go that route. I just do my music, do my thing. For him, it’s whatever. Love your music, bro. Have fun.” On doing an interview with Oprah: “I’ve been invited, I just say no at this point. I’ll go to people that I’m comfortable with. I never wanna be in a situation where I feel like I’m attacked or I’m gonna be trapped. I think I’m paying for whatever I’ve done and I’ve learnt from it and I’m moving forward, so I only want to surround myself with the people that are about positivity.” On his X plans: “I’m trying to do 10 videos because my album is X. I’m gonna do 10 videos and I’m gonna start shooting them before the album comes out. When the album drops, I drop all 10 videos so you see the visuals with the actual songs that you’ll love.” On the “Law & Order” episode inspired by his relationship with Rihanna: “I didn’t even watch it ’cause I feel like it was ignorance. I feel like they were reaching.” On whether Rihanna is his soul mate: “To a degree, yeah. Before I was madly in love with her and when I lost her, I was like, ‘Man, I don’t know what I’ma do.’” On his legacy: “I just want to be a legend. I think my [goal] now is just to make my mark in the game as just an established artist and just a real artist and a culture ambassador. I feel like I’m just getting successful. I think the hard part is over. I went through the obstacles that God kinda made me go through so I could be humble.”

Matt Lauer went in on him this morning. Chris said he was a changed man, and Matt asked if that's really true given all these incidents in the past few months. Chris looked really uncomfortable (lots of nervous laughing, body language, etc). I don't buy the shit Chris is selling with this "changed man" business. I don't let it affect my opinions of his music, but I don't think he's as changed as he's saying.

I love "Fine China". Such a great change in pace with his previous lead off and this one seen sincere of him channeling the MJ/Wonder's sound. While there are some bums (meaning those notes lol), the single has excite me and hopefully, the album doesn't disappoint.

I avoided most of pulse yesterday due to the change of scenery, but, I heard this on an interview he did this morning - sorry if this info in somewhere in this thread already:
The title, X, refers to his age. Also symbolizes how many years he's been in the industry.
He says there is A LOT more singing on this album than rapping.

The song is good, he does well on that sound. And while I'm happy to not have another dumb Y3x or DSTM, it's a bit timely. Just as R&B is seeing a resurgence via Frank Ocean, Miguel, etc. and all the attention is on JT for doing an R&B-flavored album, Chris is back to "real music."
And not that this bothers me on Chris, but I'd like to ask - how come he gets no flack for so obviously channeling Michael Jackson in his singing/songwriting/dancing when the Gaga/Madonna thing is under the microscope?

He does catch some flack for it, but I don't think he channels Michael all the time, and people have much bigger issues with Chris that they focus their attention on than whether or not he's channeling Michael Jackson. The title, X, refers to his age. 10? ??? I'm thinking it stands for the 10 years since he was discovered.
