See! The public does buy music - if it is cheap. Now, can stores stop pricing albums around $15? Thanks. Music sales would go up so much if they stopped pricing albums so high and even to an extent, singles. Unfortunately, prices seem to be slowly going up. I remember most songs used to be 79p on UK itunes and most are now 99p (up 20p!). And more recently I've started noticing albums being priced at £8.99 as opposed to what used to be the normal pricing of £7.99 (that's still too much for a digital album imo).

Where exactly were the Playlist titles $2? And was it for multiple titles?

^If you would read my "Albums On Sale" thread, you would see that Best Buy had them on sale for $1.99. They had a lot of titles for sale.

And Taylor's Red becomes the first release this year to cross the 2 million mark. And it did so in 5 weeks.

Great week for many albums. Nice to see so many albums sell above expectations. Very strong numbers for Rihanna, Taylor Swift held up well and crossed 2 million, Pink and Carrie Underwood's albums saw great increases. Even Kid Rock did quite well (I think) without a hit at all, or any buzz as far as I can tell. And fantastic that Adele hit the 10 million mark.
Hopefully sales will continue to be high into December. I'd like to think that Alicia Keys will open well next week - she's getting great reviews so far, and "Girl On Fire" is a solid hit.

I'm still in shock with the debut of Global warming... :'( :'( I think Pitbull had a shot to debut with 100,000K if Get it started would have been a hit...
Anyway 64,000 K for Pitbull is something historic! his biggest debut ever! He already has 2 gold albums in the States, but this could be his first Platinum record if he picks the right singles... :'(

After back to back disappointments with Kris Allen and Lee DeWyze, Idol recovers with Scotty and Phillip.

Congrats to Rih. Kendrick is doing well. Keyshia beat her projections nicely (didn't HITS have her between 75-85K?). Rise, Christina. And I see you Pink.

So, how many albums have crossed the 1M mark this year? And how many more are we still expecting before the year ends?

So happy about Adele, Carrie, Phillip, and Rihanna! And also that general Black Friday sales seem to be up from last year! Maybe the top 10 will have sold over 100K once Soundscan numbers come in?

So, how many albums have crossed the 1M mark this year? And how many more are we still expecting before the year ends? Look in the YTD 2012 thread. 8 albums have crossed 1 million scanned. I think about 4 more will happen. There's only 5 weeks left.

So, how many albums have crossed the 1M mark this year? And how many more are we still expecting before the year ends? I BELIEVE it's Adele, Taylor Swift, One Direction, Mumford & Sons, Lionel Richie, Justin Bieber & Carrie Underwood. Luke Bryan will if he hasn't. Maroon 5 will. Pink has a shot if sales stay brisk through the holiday season. One Direction and Jason Aldean also likely will. Perhaps Rod Stewart's Christmas album. I doubt the upcoming releases will by year's end (Bruno Mars, Ke$ha, Wiz Khalifa, Alicia Keys).

^Are you sure? Has it been confirmed somewhere? BA was at 936k as of last week. With another 71k, BA is at 1007k. Of course, Soundscan number comes out later (today maybe?) and that could change things. I doubt it.

The Soundscan number came in a bit higher. :) According to MTV.com:Just outside the top bracket, original "Idol" Kelly Clarkson landed at #11 with Greatest Hits -- Chapter 1 (74,000), landing just ahead of the another "Idol" legend, Carrie Underwood, whose Blown Away blew up 13 spots to #12 as sales were up 349 percent :o to 74,000 and the album crossed the one million mark.
