Univision News @univisionnews Mexican authorities have found plane wreckage in Nuevo Leon state, no survivors. Jenni Rivera one of 7 passengers Here's an earlier article from CNN. Mexican authorities search for missing singer after suspected plane crashMexico City (CNN) -- Singer Jenni Rivera is missing after a private plane she was flying in lost contact with air traffic controllers in Mexico early Sunday morning, officials said. Two pilots and and four other passengers are also missing in the suspected crash, Mexico's transportation ministry said in a statement. The plane took off from Monterrey, Mexico, at 3:15 a.m. and lost contact with air traffic controllers about 60 miles away, the statement said. Helicopters are assisting in the search for the missing plane. The Mexican-American singer had a concert in the northern Mexican city Saturday night, according to her website. Born in Long Beach, California, to Mexican immigrant parents, Rivera, 43, released her debut album in 1999, her website said. She sings traditional Mexican ballads, and was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award in 2002 in the category of "Best Banda Album." She is a judge on the popular TV show, "The Voice, Mexico," which was scheduled to air Sunday night. Noting its concern for Rivera, Mexican broadcaster Televisa said it would air a special report on the singer instead. A fellow judge on the show took to Twitter following news of Rivera's disappearance. "My heart is devastated," wrote Beto Cuevas. "All my prayers are with you, Jenni, and your family." Rivera's "I Love Jenni" reality show began airing on Telemundo's mun2 network last year. In October, People en Espanol named Rivera to its list of the 25 most powerful women. She is a mother of five. www.cnn.com/2012/12/09/world/americas/mexico-singer-plane/index.html

Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan,William Levy Mourn Death Of Jenni Rivera Posted on December 9th, 2012 at 5:14 pm - richard@rumorfix.com Multiple news outlets are reporting that Latin superstar Jenni Rivera died in a private plane crash on Sunday. RumorFix has celebrity reaction: Ricky Martin tweeted in Spanish, “This is sad. I’m a bit in shock. Much peace to her family.” Cristina Saralegui, the Latin Oprah, writes, “I was saddened to hear of the news of my friend Jenni Rivera. My deepest sympathies to her family and to the family of the others on the plane. May they rest in peace.” She also tweeted this photo from 2009: Gloria Estefan tweets “Our deepest sympathy to the family & fans of @jennirivera & those that accompanied her on what was to be her last voyage. Rest in peace…” Paulina Rubio, who was to co-host the Mexican edition of The Voice with Rivera, wrote in Spanish, “I’ve been waiting for my 9:00 a.m. for my dear friend@ jennirivera but she never came. I’m crying. She left us too soon … There are no words — no consolation.” Hunky actor model William Levy was stunned, writing, “I can not believe the @ jennirivera news … My heart goes out to her family. I wish you all the strength in the world. God rest her soul.” Rivera, 43, was one of seven passengers on a private jet that took off from Monterey, Mexico at 3:15 a.m. Sunday on the way to Mexico for her appearance on The Voice. Jenni’s publicist and make-up artist were believed to be on that flight as well. Source

Jenni Rivera's Last 24 Hours: 'I'll Be Waiting for You'
Top-selling regional Mexican Jenni Rivera was confirmed dead on Dec. 9 after the small private plane she was traveling in crashed. Below is a chronology of the singer's last 24 hours.
-- On Dec. 8, at around 3 p.m. in Mexico, a group of girls in Monterrey sent out an excited tweet: "We are tuning our voices to see diva @jennirivera. DON'T ANYONE TALK TO US [sic]."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JENNI CHART HIGHLIGHTS
• Regional Mexican Airplay -- 10 Top 10s (Including One No. 1) • Hot Latin Songs -- Eight Top 20s • Regional Mexican Albums -- Eight Top 10s (Four No. 1s) • Top Latin Albums -- Seven Top 10s (One No. 1)
Album Sales: Over 1.1 million sold in U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. Top: 2005's "Parrandera Rebelde Y Atrevida" (211,000)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seconds later, Rivera retweeted the missive, with a message of her own: "Hahaha. I'll be waiting for you. Thank you."
Answers from her tweeting fans were fast and awestruck: "I love youuuuuuuuuu," wrote one. "Woooooooow We'll see you there diva, until our voices give out."
Rivera loved twitter and had 1.7 million followers. She took pains to answer tweets personally and preferred to use her twitter account to update fans rather than sending out press releases. Beginning Dec. 8, tweets from Rivera, her fans and her entourage were fast and furious. Death wasn't on anybody's mind.
"We are landing in Monterrey land," tweeted her publicist Arturo Rivera on Dec. 8. "Team @jennirivera set to triumph in Arena Monterrey which has been sold out for three weeks."
-- At 9:45 p.m., Rivera Tweeted a picture of the show. "Incredible! The lighting and stage at the Center of Arena Monterrey that @jennirivera used in her show today.
-- At 1:50 a.m. on Dec. 9, fans were still tweeting from the venue. "Thank you diva for giving us an excellent show in arena Monterrey and giving your all to your fans. Diva, you are big!" tweeted one.
-- By 2 a.m., the show had ended but the activity on stage had not. Universal executives -- including Fonovisa president Antonio Silva -- gave Rivera a plaque for sales of her albums "Joyas Prestadas" and "La Gran Señora."
Rivera then held a press conference. "Ay m'ija, I'm so happy. I'm so happy," she said. "I'm very happy […] The times I've been pushed down are the times I've gotten up. God is good and never lets my hand go. There's an audience that keeps me up, that is living with me and wants to see me do well."
-- Shortly after 3 a.m., Rivera retweeted several fan messages, adding missives of her own to each one.
-- Fifteen minutes later Rivera got on board a private LearJet owned by Starwood Management with tags N345MC. With her were her publicist, Arturo Rivera; her stylist Jorge Sanchez; her makeup artist Jacobo Llenares; her attorney Mario Macias; and the plane's pilots. The plane was bound for Toluca, close to Mexico City, where Rivera was supposed to be Dec. 9 to shoot "The Voice Mexico."
-- At approximately 3:20 a.m., 61.8 miles from Monterrey, the control tower lost contact with the aircraft.
-- 4:30 a.m.: when the aircraft didn't land in Toluca, a search party was deployed.
-- By early afternoon on Dec. 9, word got out that the aircraft carrying Rivera had disappeared.
-- By 5 p.m. local time, Mexican officials confirmed they'd found the remains of the aircraft. There are no signs of survivors. Among the remains found is Rivera's driver's license

Jenni Rivera Dead in Plane Crash, Father Confirms
UPDATE 9:35 PM ET | Jenni Rivera's father and brother confirmed on Telemundo that the Mexican-American singer died in a plane crash on Saturday night, according to NBC News.
Earlier Sunday, Mexico's Secretary of Communications and Transportation, Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, confirmed that officials found the remains of an airplane that was carrying Rivera from Monterrey to Toluca, Mexico.
Rivera was traveling on a private plane following a concert at Arena Monterrey on Dec. 8. She was traveling with her publicist, Arturo Rivera, her stylist Jorge Sanchez, her makeup artist Jacobo Llenares, her attorney Mario Macias, along with the plane's pilots.
The official word is that there were no survivors.
Album Sales: 1.1 million sold in U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. Top: 2005's "Parrandera Rebelde Y Atrevida" (211,000)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Authorities had been looking for the plane since 4:40 a.m. Mexico time, since it lost contact with the airport a few minutes after departing. The plane was found in a ranch in Iturbide in the state of Nuevo León, close to Monterrey.
Rivera was currently a coach on "The Voice Mexico." Tonight's show, the semi-final, has been postponed and instead, network Televisa aired a special on the singer.
Mexico's Civil Aeronautics authority (DGAC) confirmed on its website this afternoon that it has "initiated investigations about the alleged fall of a plane owned by Starwood Management with tags N345MC, which took place this morning in the state of Nueva León."
According to the report, the LearJet left Monterrey at 3:15 am and lost contact with the radar 61.8 miles from Monterrey. Search parties were sent out at 4:40 a.m. local time, with the help of two helicopters and a plane.
The plane was en route from Monterrey to Toluca. Rivera performed a concert at Arena Monterrey last night. Rivera, an avid user of Twitter, last sent out tweets at approximately 5 am ET.
The singer, one of the most successful female performers on Latin charts today, is signed to Fonovisa/UMLE and is also the star of her own reality television show, "I Love Jenni," on cable network mun2. She recently signed a deal with ABC to star in her own comedy series, titled "Jenni."
She has had 10 top 10 songs on Billboard's Regional Mexican Airplay chart (including a No. 1); 8 top 10 entries on the Regional Mexican Albums chart (including four No. 1s); seven top 10 hits on the Top Latin Albums chart (including one No. 1); and one top 10 hit on the Hot Latin Songs chart. She has sold approximately 1,158,000 albums in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

I think we should also note that a plane crash in March 1991 killed seven of Reba McEntire's band members.

What a sad, sad tragedy. I didn't know much about her, but I did read on Twitter mostly that her husband raped her daughters and she kept quiet about the whole thing?

It's two separate things-the first husband was convicted of molesting one of his biological daughters with Jenni and (much later) that daughter was rumored to have had an affair with Jenni's third husband and that's allegedly why they split up. The daughter has denied it but Jenni apparently believed it and they weren't on speaking terms prior to her death.

R.I.P.- another sad loss.
However, I believe ABC News made a huge booboo, reporting that in the USA, she was "bigger than Beyonce." it said she sold 15 million albums, vs. Beyonce's 11 million. Perhaps they mixed up her worldwide tally with the U.S. figure, which is 1.2 million, per Billboard.

That's a huge booboo? Shouldn't it be the fact that they're even comparing the two?

I really wish these celebrities, and people in general, would quit flying in these small charter planes. They're not safe!
Really sad and awful tragedy....I didn't know who she was before this but I hear she was huge in Mexican music, like she was their ultimate diva, she was their Whitney, Mariah, and Celine. I see a lot of her devastated fans and family members on twitter expressing their grief, it's a huge loss for them and I feel their pain on losing someone very special.
I won't even get into the horrific pictures of the remains that are being shown on there.

Jenni Rivera English Album To Be Released, Songs Recorded In 2004It’s no surprise that Jenni Rivera’s album sales have shot up since her untimely passing. And keeping with that trend, it seems her record company is planning to put out even more música, including her “long lost” English record. According to People en Español, Jenni recorded a set of Americanized songs back in 2004. For reasons unknown, the tracks were never submitted to her label and remained in the vaults…until now. Rivera’s father Pedro said it had been her dream to enter the U.S. pop charts and he is excited for the public to hear her English debut. So far, there’s been no word as to whether the tracks will be original compositions or cover songs (with Jenni’s signature touch). Either way, we’re sure hardcore Diva de la Banda fans will be thrilled to hear the unreleased material. Look for the new Jenni en Inglés tracks to arrive sometime between now and the end of the year. www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/02/jenni-rivera-english-album-singer-recorded-songs-in-2004_n_2396475.html
