www.billboard.com/news#/news/taylor-swift-s-red-back-at-no-1-wiz-khalifa-1008046962.storyTaylor Swift's 'Red' Back at No. 1, Wiz Khalifa and Ke$ha Debut Top 10by Keith Caulfield, L.A. | December 12, 2012 Taylor Swift heads back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week as her "Red" set steps 2-1 with 167,000 (up 22%) according to Nielsen SoundScan. Last week's leader, Alicia Keys' "Girl On Fire," falls to No. 7 with 77,000 (down 52%). This is "Red's" fourth non-consecutive week at No. 1. Its first three frames -- all in a row -- came upon its debut on the chart dated Nov. 10. Combined, Swift's three No. 1 albums have spent 21 weeks at No. 1. Swift is now tied with Whitney Houston and Jay-Z for the fourth-most weeks at No. 1 since SoundScan began powering the chart in May of 1991. Garth Brooks leads with 51 weeks at No. 1 in that span of time, followed by Eminem (29) and Adele (24 - all from her "21" album). The new chart's highest debut comes in at No. 2, where Wiz Khalifa's second studio album "O.N.I.F.C." starts with 141,000. His first release, 2011's "Rolling Papers," also stepped in at No. 2, but with a bigger number: 197,000. Rod Stewart's "Merry Christmas, Baby," holds at No. 3 with 127,000 (up 9%) while One Direction's "Take Me Home" is also steady at No. 4 with 107,000 (up 16%). Michael Buble's "Christmas" jumps 7-5 with the chart's largest unit gain (40,000), selling 106,000 for the week (up 61%). At No. 6 is the second-biggest debut of the week, Ke$ha's "Warrior," starting with 85,000. It follows her debut studio set "Animal," second release "Cannibal," and a remix album "I Am the Dance Commander + I Command You to Dance." "Animal" -- her first and only No. 1 -- bowed atop the Billboard 200 in the dead of January 2010, selling 152,000 in its first week. The set dropped on Jan. 5 of that year and, unlike "Warrior," had a clear path to No. 1. "Animal's" street date took advantage of a wide-open release schedule and an always-slow sales month. The week "Animal" debuted at No. 1, the next-highest new entry was way down at No. 27, where Katharine McPhee's "Unbroken" debuted with 15,000. They were two of only seven debuts on the entire Billboard 200. Granted, "Animal's" 152,000 wasn't a jaw-dropping figure, but it was enough to bump Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" from the penthouse after a six-week run. Boyle's album fell to No. 2 that week with 93,000 -- down from 137,000 the week previous. Back on this week's chart, though, we find Blake Shelton's "Cheers, It's Christmas" rising 9-8 with 68,000 (up 29%) and Phillip Phillips' "The World From the Side of the Moon" falling 5-9 with 65,000 (down 12%). Rounding out the top 10 is country duo Florida Georgia Line with its debut studio set "Here's to the Good Times." The album starts with 63,000 the same week its single "Cruise" spends its second week atop the Country Airplay chart. Over on the Digital Songs chart, Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven" reaches No. 1 for the first time, climbing 5-1 with 197,000 (up 46%). It's the fifth No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart for the singer/songwriter/producer. Its cumulative sales now stand at 1.3 million. Last week's No. 1, will.i.am's "Scream & Shout" (featuring Britney Spears), slips to No. 3 with 142,000 (down 28%). Jumping 8-2 is Rihanna's "Diamonds" with 143,000 (up 17%). Current Billboard magazine cover stars the Lumineers rise 6-4 with "Ho Hey" (132,000; up 3%) while Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble" sizzles with an 11-5 rise (129,000; up 59%). PSY's "Gangnam Style" dips 2-6 (123,000; down 14%), Alicia Keys' "Girl On Fire" descends 3-7 (110,000; down 22%) and Justin Bieber's "Beauty and a Beat" rallies 13-8 (107,000; up 40%). Phillip Phillips' "Home" is stationary at No. 9 (105,000; down 11%) and Ke$ha's "Die Young" finishes out the top 10, sliding 7-10 (96,000; down 12%). Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Dec. 9) totaled 8.45 million units, up 12% compared with the sum last week (7.52 million) and down 14% compared with the comparable sales week of 2011 (9.77 million). Year-to-date album sales stand at 283.76 million, down 4% compared with the same total at this point last year (296.54 million). Digital track sales this past week totaled 23.28 million downloads, up 5% compared with last week (22.15 million) and up 7% stacked next to the comparable week of 2011 (21.69 million). Year-to-date track sales are at 1.232 billion, up 6% compared with the same total at this point last year (1.164 billion). Next week's Billboard 200 competes with the same week in 2011 when: Michael Buble's "Christmas" led the chart for a fourth week (447,000; down 7%) while the highest debut was found at No. 12, where Anthony Hamilton's "Back to Love" started with 63,000.

The great chart minds think so alike. A 4% year-to-year dip still isn't bad for album sales, given how much they've declined in the past.

^I know. I thought it would be higher by now considering how huge Buble's Xmas album was last year.
It's all those $5 catalog albums keeping the industry afloat.
I read an article yesterday how the demand for physical product will drop after Xmas due to to all the iPads/tablets being given as Xmas gifts.

The main source of listening to music for many people is now the computer/ipad/ipod/etc.
No longer the home stereo system for many.
Cars still play Cds (for now) but that should decline in future years too.
That should be good for growth in digital produce, bad for physical product

Cds still outsell digital albums by a good margin.

Both Alicia and Rihanna face a great challenge in chasing platinum status this time around.

^Alicia, maybe.
Rihanna is at ~370k. I expect her to be around 625k for 2012 sales.
With 2nd, 3rd and 4th singles, Rihanna will probably scan one million.

Week Ending Dec. 9, 2012. Albums: Swift’s Birthday PresentBy Paul Grein | Chart Watch – 12 minutes ago Taylor Swift's fans have given her the perfect birthday present: They sent her album Red back to #1 on The Billboard 200. (Swift turns 23 on Thursday.) The album has sold 2,383,000 copies in just seven weeks. That's more than any other album has sold in such a short time span since Susan Boyle's I Dreamed A Dream sold 3,196,000 copies in its first seven weeks in 2009 and early 2010. Red has sold at least 137K copies in each of its first seven weeks. You might not think that would be that would be so hard, but these days it is. Rihanna's Unapologetic and Alicia Keys' Girl On Fire have each had just one week with sales above 100K. Ke$ha's Warrior debuts this week with sales of just 86K. And those are three of the hottest female artists in the business. How is Swift able to defy the trends? It's easy to give credit to her vast country crossover constituency, but no other country artists sell like this. Swift has sold 20,487,000 albums, which is more than any other artist who has come on the scene in the past 10 years. Her closest rivals are 50 Cent (16,535,000) and Michael Buble (16,137,000). Nielsen SoundScan's running list of the artists who have sold the most albums since 1991 includes 10 artists who first hit The Billboard 200 since December 2002. Swift, 50 Cent and Buble are followed by Carrie Underwood (13,797,000, Beyonce (as a solo artist, 13,038,000), Adele (12,628,000), Kelly Clarkson (11,969,000), Kanye West (11,780,000), Evanescence (11,052,000) and Maroon 5 (10,469,000). This is Red's fourth week at #1 on The Billboard 200. The album is #1 on Top Country Albums for the seventh week. Wiz Khalifa's O.N.I.F.C. debuts at #2. It's the rapper's second album in a row to debut at #2, following Rolling Papers in April 2011. The title of the new album is an acronym for Only N**** In First Class, or, for fans who prefer a tamer alternative, One Night In First Class. This echoes Chris Brown's 2011 album F.A.M.E., which stood for Forgiving All My Enemies, or for fans with tender sensibilities, Fans Are My Everything. You can always tell when a title is made up after the fact to be the "clean version." It just kind of sits there. O.N.I.F.C. sold 87K digital copies, which puts it at #1 on Top Digital Albums. Rod Stewart's Merry Christmas, Baby holds at #3 for the second straight week. It's the highest-ranking of 79 holiday albums on this week's Billboard 200. Will it ever make #1? Next week it will have to contend with the debut of Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox. One Direction's Take Me Home holds at #4 for the second week. The boy band didn't receive any Grammy nominations, and even went home empty-handed from the American Music Awards, but it keeps selling records. Take Me Home this week cracks the top 10 in year-to-date sales. It's #9. The quintet's earlier album Up All Night is #3 for the year-to-date. One Direction is the only act with two albums in the top 10 for the year-to-date. There are still three more chart weeks left in the year, but if this holds, One Direction will become the first act to have two albums in Nielsen SoundScan's year-end top 10 since 2008, when Taylor Swift was #3 with Fearless and #6 with Taylor Swift. In addition, Up All Night—The Live Tour logs its 25thweek at #1 on Top Music Videos. It's the first music video to log 25 weeks at #1 since Pink Floyd's Pulse, which spent a total of 25 weeks at #1 from June 1995 to October 2006. (Both are British.) Michael Buble's Christmas jumps from #7 to #5. This marks the third time in the Nielsen SoundScan era that a Christmas album that was first released in a previous holiday season has ranked among the top five weekly best-sellers in a subsequent holiday season. Kenny G's Miracles—The Holiday Album was the third best-selling album for two weeks in 1995. Josh Groban's Noel was the fourth best-selling album for two weeks in 2008. (The stilted language in the preceding sentences was necessitated by the fact that catalog albums didn't appear on The Billboard 200 until December 2009. But Nielsen SoundScan compiled a "Comprehensive Albums" chart that combined current and catalog albums, just as The Billboard 200 now does, so we can fairly compare then and now.) Ke$ha's Warrior debuts at #6. In January 2010, when Ke$ha was riding her breakthrough smash "TiK ToK," her debut album Animal sold 152K copies in its first week. This week, after a long string of hits, her second full-length album Warrior sold 86K copies in its first week. This seems backwards. It would make more sense if Animal had sold 86K copies (Ke$ha was, after all, an unknown quantity beyond that one song) and Warrior had sold 152K, after she'd proven herself again and again. So what's the answer here? The stronger first-week sales for Animal reflect the massive popularity of "TiK ToK" (which topped the Hot 100 for 10 weeks). Her current hit, "Die Young," appears to have peaked at #2. It's a solid hit, but not a phenomenal hit like "TiK ToK" was. Florida Georgia Line's debut studio album Here's To The Good Times opens at #10. "Cruise" is a top 20 hit on the Hot 100 and has been locked at #2 for five weeks on Hot Country Songs behind Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." Will it move up to #1 this week? Stay tuned. Shameless Plug: We'll post my annual look at the year's top-selling albums today. There's great news in there for Adele, Taylor Swift, One Direction and also a few people who may surprise you. There are still three chart weeks left in 2012. I'll update all the tallies in the report on Jan. 2, when Nielsen SoundScan posts the final weekly chart of 2012. Bruno Mars' "Locked Out Of Heaven" jumps to #1 on Hot Digital Songs. It's his fifth #1 on that chart. It also jumps to #1 on the Hot 100. It's his fourth #1 on that chart. I'll have more to say about that when we post Chart Watch Songs later today. Here's the low-down on this week's top 10 albums. The Top Five: Taylor Swift's Red returns to #1 in its seventh week (167K). This is its fourth week on top; its seventh week in the top five...Wiz Khalifa's O.N.I.F.C. debuts at #2 (141K). This is his second top five album, following Rolling Papers (#2 in 2011)…Rod Stewart's Merry Christmas, Baby holds at #3 for the second week in its sixth week (127K). This is its sixth week in the top 10…One Direction's Take Me Home holds at #4 for the second week in its fourth week (107K). This is its fourth week in the top 10…Michael Buble's Christmas rebounds from #7 to #5 in its 17th week on the chart (106K). This is its 11th week in the top 10. The Second Five: Ke$ha's Warrior debuts at #6 (86K). This is her second top 10 album, following Animal (#1 in 2010)…Alicia Keys' Girl On Fire drops from #1 to #7 (77K)… Blake Shelton's Cheers, It's Christmas jumps from #9 to #8 in its ninth week (68K). This is its second week in the top 10….Phillip Phillips' The World From The Side Of The Moon drops from #5 to #9 in its third week (65K)… Florida Georgia Line's Here's To The Good Times debuts at #10 (63K). It's the group's first top 10 album. Three albums drop out of the top 10 this week. Rihanna's Unapologetic drops from #6 to #12. Lady Antebellum's On This Winter's Night drops from #8 to #11. Kid Rock's Rebel Soul drops from #10 to #17. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 drops from #30 to #41 in its fourth week. It's #1 on Top Soundtracks for the fourth week. The movie was #3 at the box-office after three weekends on top. Skyfall returned to #1 in its fifth weekend at the box-office. The Skyfall soundtrack, which does not include Adele's hit title song, sold about 1K copies this week, too few to make The Billboard 200. The score by Thomas Newman has sold just 13K copies to date. (The nerve of fans wanting the hit!) The Dave Brubeck Quartet's 1959 album Time Out Featuring "Take Five" returns to The Billboard 200 at #123 one week after Brubeck's death (which occurred one day shy of his 92nd birthday). The album, boosted by the top 30 instrumental hit "Take Five," reached #2 in November 1961. It was kept out of the top spot by Judy Garland's Judy At Carnegie Hall. (Both albums are pretty great.) Pearl Jam's 1993 album Vs. tops the 6 million mark in sales this week. It's the 100th album to reach sales of 6 million copies since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales for Billboard in 1991. It's the band's second best-selling album. Ten has sold 9,983,000 copies since its release in late 1991. Coming Attractions: Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox is expected to be next week's top new entry. Also due: The Game's Jesus Piece, The Music Of Nashville, Big Boi's Vicious Lies And Dangerous Rumors, Green Day's Tre!, Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album Vol. 3. and Metallica's DVD Quebec Magnetic. music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/week-ending-dec-9-2012-albums-swift-birthday-191345471.html

music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/chart-watch-extra-top-albums-204117904.htmlChart Watch Extra: The Year’s Top Albums By Paul Grein | Chart Watch Adele's 21 is set to become the first album to wind up as the year's best-seller twice since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales for Billboard in 1991. The album has sold 4,255,000 copies so far this year. It sold 5,824,000 copies in 2011. It's one of only four albums in the Nielsen SoundScan era to sell 4 million or more copies in each of two calendar years. It follows Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill (1995-1996), Shania Twain's Come On Over (1998-1999) and Santana's Supernatural (1999-2000). Even though it's in its second year of release, 21 has sold more copies this year than the best-selling albums of 2006 through 2010 did in those years. The album spawned three #1 hits, "Rolling In The Deep," "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire To The Rain." It won six Grammys in February, including Album of the Year. Taylor Swift's Red is #2 for the year-to-date with sales of 2,383,000. This will mark the fourth time that Swift has had an album in the year-end top three. Fearless was #3 for 2008 and #1 for 2009. Speak Now was #3 for 2010. In the Nielsen SoundScan era, only one other artist, Eminem, has ranked in the top three on the year-end chart four times. This will be the fifth year in which Swift has had an album in the year-end top 10. Taylor Swift was #9 for 2007. Red is the year's best-selling album that was released in 2012. It has spawned four top 10 hits, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," "Begin Again," "Red" and "I Knew You Were Trouble." Four of the 10 best-selling albums for the year-to-date have been big country hits. Red is followed by albums by Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Country was responsible for four albums in the year-end top 10 in 1992 and 2002. This year will mark the first time that female artists have held the top two spots on the year-end album recap since 2009, when Swift and Susan Boyle were #1 and #2. One Direction has two albums in the top 10 for the year-to-date. Up All Night is #3 with sales of 1,464,000. Take Me Home is #9 with sales of 915K. The British/Irish boy band is vying to become the first non-country act to place two albums in the top 10 on the year-end chart in the Nielsen SoundScan era. Garth Brooks had three of the top 10 for 1992. Taylor Swift had two of the top 10 for 2008. Up All Night, which spawned the top 10 hit "What Makes You Beautiful," is the year's best-selling album by a group. It's also the year's best-selling debut album. This will mark the fifth time in the Nielsen SoundScan era that a boy band has ranked in the top three for year. Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC each achieved the feat twice. Take Me Home has also spawned a top 10 hit: "Live While We're Young." Mumford & Sons' Babel is #4 for the year-to-date with sales of 1,243,000. This will be the second year in a row that the British folk revival band has ranked in the year-end top 10. Sigh No More was #6 for 2011. Babel is a Grammy finalist for Album of the Year and Best Americana Album. Justin Bieber's Believe is #5 for the year-to-date with sales of 1,141,000. It's the highest-ranking album by a male solo artist. This will be the third year in a row that Bieber has ranked in the top 10. My World 2.0 was #4 for 2010. Under The Mistletoe was #8 for 2011. Bieber will be the first male artist to place an album in the year-end top 10 three years in a row since Garth Brooks scored from 1991 through 1993. (The Fine Print: The Nielsen SoundScan site doesn't carry archival charts from 1991, its first year of operation. But Billboard's year-end chart for 1991 has Brooks' No Fences at #2. Close enough.) Believe has spawned three top 10 hits, "Believe," "As Long As You Love Me" (featuring Big Sean) and "Beauty And A Beat" (featuring Nicki Minaj). Deep trivia: this will mark the second time in the past three years that Bieber has had the year's best-selling album by a Canadian artist. Michael Buble and Drake edged him out last year. Carrie Underwood's Blown Away is #6 for the year-to-date with sales of 1,067,000. This will mark the second time that Underwood has had an album in the year-end top 10. Some Hearts was #3 for 2006. Blown Away has spawned two top 20 hits, "Good Girl" and "Blown Away." Lionel Richie's Tuskegee is #7 for the year-to-date with sales of 1,057,000. Richie, 63, is vying to become the oldest artist to rank in the year-end top 10 in the Nielsen SoundScan era. (Rod Stewart's Merry Christmas, Baby, which is #24 for the year-to-date and moving up fast, may wind up in the year-end top 10. If it does, Stewart, 67, would surpass Richie as the oldest artist to rank in the year-end top 10. I'm guessing Richie wouldn't mind a bit.) Luke Bryan's Tailgates & Tanlines is #8 for the year-to-date with sales of 992K. The album sold an additional 651K copies in 2011. The album has spawned four top 30 hits, "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)," "I Don't Want This Night To End," "Drunk On You" and "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye." Whitney Houston's Whitney: The Greatest Hits is #10 for the year-to-date with sales of 877K. (All but about 2,500 of this tally were sold after her death on Feb. 11.) The album, which was first released in 2000, is the year's #1 catalog album. It had sold an additional 1,738,000 copies prior to this year. Houston's The Bodyguard soundtrack was #3 for 1992 and #1 for 1993. Jason Aldean's Night Train is #11 for the year-to-date with sales of 866K. His 2010 album My Kinda Party is #26 for the year-to-date with sales of 565K. (It ranked #5 for 2011.) Aldean is the only male solo artist who has sold 500K copies each of two albums so far this year. (One female artist, Adele, and two groups, One Direction and Mumford & Sons, have also achieved the feat.) My Kinda Party, which spawned the top 10 hit "Dirt Road Anthem," was a Grammy finalist for Best Country Album of 2011. Night Train, which spawned the top 15 hit "Take A Little Ride," was released too late for consideration this year. It will probably be a finalist for Best Country Album next year. Maroon 5's Overexposed is #12 for the year-to-date with sales of 862K. The album spawned the megahits "Payphone" (featuring Wiz Khalifa) and "One More Night." The album received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. The group's debut album, Songs About Jane, was the #7 best-seller of 2004. fun.'s debut album, Some Nights, is #13 for the year-to-date with sales of 811K. The album spawned the smash hits "We Are Young" (featuring Janelle Monae) and "Some Nights." The album received Grammy nominations for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. P!nk's The Truth About Love is #14 for the year-to-date with sales of 776K. The album spawned the top five hit "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)." The album received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. P!nk's sophomore album, Missundaztood, was the #6 best-seller of 2002. Drake's Take Care is the top-selling rap album for the year-to-date with sales of 681K. The album sold an additional 1,247,000 copies in 2011. (I'm classifying Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which has sold 749K, as pop.) Take Care is a Grammy finalist for Best Rap Album. It spawned two top 10 hits, "Make Me Proud" (featuring Minaj) and "Take Care" (featuring Rihanna). Rod Stewart's Merry Christmas, Baby is the top-selling Christmas album for the year-to-date with sales of 602K. Stewart's album was released too late for Grammy consideration this year, but it will probably be up for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album next year. The Hunger Games: Songs From District 12 And Beyond is the best-selling soundtrack for the year-to-date with sales of 457K. This will be the first time since 2009 that the soundtrack to a theatrically-released movie has been the year's top soundtrack. Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album beat out The Twilight Saga: Eclipse in 2010. Lemonade Mouth edged out The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 in 2011. The Hunger Games spawned a pair of top 30 hits by Taylor Swift: "Eyes Open" and "Safe & Sound" (featuring The Civil Wars). Shake It Up: Live 2 Dance is the top-selling TV soundtrack for the year-to-date with sales of 199K. (Glee ran out of gas this year. No Glee albums rank among the top 200 for the year-to-date. The Glee phenomenon peaked two years ago when Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album was the year's #16 best-seller.) Usher's Looking 4 Myself is the top-selling R&B album for the year-to-date with sales of 438K. (I'm classifying albums by Whitney Houston, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna as pop and albums by Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Rick Ross as rap.) Looking 4 Myself spawned the top 10 hit "Scream." Romeo Santos' Formula, Vol. 1 is the top-selling Latin music album for the year-to-date, with sales of 123K. Tenacious D's Rize Of The Fenix is the top-selling comedy album for the year-to-date, with sales of 113K copies. The comedy troupe features Jack Black. The album is a Grammy finalist for Best Comedy Album. To My Readers: There are still three weeks left in the 2012 chart year. I'll update all the tallies in this report after Nielsen SoundScan posts the final charts of 2012 on Wednesday, Jan. 2. A week from today, we'll look at the year's top songs. I'll update all the numbers in that report on Jan. 2, too.

www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/industry/retail/chart-moves-luke-bryan-one-direction-s-take-1008051322.story Chart Moves: Luke Bryan, One Direction's 'Take Me Home' Next for 2012's Million-Sellers Club December 14, 2012 | By Keith Caulfield The Billboard 200 On the chart this week, Taylor Swift's "Red" returned to No. 1, selling 167,000 (up 22%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's the album's fourth non-consecutive week atop the list. The tally's highest new entry was found at No. 2, where Wiz Khalifa's "O.N.I.F.C." started with 141,000. Since we've already recapped the top 10, let's look at some of the movers and shakers farther down the chart. -- Luke Bryan, One Direction: In 2011, there were 13 albums that crossed the million sales mark. So far this year, there are seven. Next in line to reach 1 million: Luke Bryan's "Tailgates & Tanlines" (992,000) and One Direction's "Take Me Home" (915,000). The sets rank at Nos. 30 and 4 this week, selling 25,000 and 107,000, respectively. Bryan's "Tailgates" album has sold a total of 1.6 million since its release in August 2011. Of that, 992,000 were shifted this year and 651,000 were sold in 2011. One Direction's "Take Me Home" will become the vocal group's second album to sell 1 million copies this year, after "Up All Night" (1.5 million and counting). Both titles were released earlier this year. One Direction could finish 2012 as the only act to sell 1 million copies of two different albums. -- "ONXRT: Live From the Archives Volume 14": The limited edition charity compilation bows at No. 63 with 12,000 sold, the highest rank and best sales frame in the series' history. The set -- available at Chicago area Target stores -- features in-studio performances and concert broadcasts at WXRT Chicago. It benefits the Rock for Kids and Sarah's Circle charities and includes Arcade Fire, the Shins and Wilco. The "ONXRT" series earlier placed two entries on the Billboard 200: In 2008, the 11th volume spent a week on the chart at No. 175 and in 2011, the 13th volume hit No. 157 for one week. -- Macklemore & Ryan Lewis: The pair's "The Heist" album earns its third straight weekly sales gain and grabs its best sales (12,000) since its third week. In turn, it rallies up the chart, moving from No. 84 to No. 64. The single "Thrift Shop" rises 29-27 on Alternative and is flirting with a debut on Mainstream Top 40. Over on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, it hits a new peak, climbing 7-4 in its 10th week on the list. -- Hinder: The band's fourth studio album, "Welcome to the Freakshow," starts with 12,000 at No. 65. It arrives almost exactly two years after the release of its last album, "All American Nightmare." The latter debuted and peaked at No. 37 on the Dec. 25, 2010, chart with 35,000. The new album's current single, "Save Me," rises 26-23 on the Active Rock chart this week. -- John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John: A week following the pair's video for "I Think You Might Like It" went viral (six million views in its first week), its parent album "This Christmas" soars with a 78% gain (selling 9,000 for the week). The collaboration set zips 165-86 in its third frame on the list and could go even higher next week. If it can get any higher than No. 59, it will be Newton-John's highest-charting album since 1988's "The Rumour," which peaked at No. 67. (In 1998, she returned with the No. 59-peaking "Back With a Heart.") -- Luther Vandross: The late singer debuts his "Classic Christmas Album" at No. 167, marking the artist's 22nd chart entry and highest charting set since 2006. The new compilation of previously released holiday songs includes one commercially unreleased nugget: a live duet with Chaka Khan on "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." The album marks Vandross' loftiest rank since 2006's "The Ultimate Luther Vandross" debuted and peaked at No. 9. -- Paloma Faith: The British singer's debut album, "Fall to Grace," arrives with 6,000, debuting at No. 2 on Heatseekers Albums and No. 170 on the Billboard 200. This week, its single "Picking Up the Pieces" jumps to a new high of No. 10 on Dance Club/Play Songs.
