"Charmbracelet" was released on December 3, 2002, I would like to see the new album sooner rather than later. If she can get it out on 12/10 or 12/17, I would be more than satisfied.

If it's of the quality of Beautiful and Almost Home I'll be a happy boy.

While I'm excited that we're getting the single soon, 11/11/13 is such an odd date to release one because the Christmas freeze will occur fairly early in the song's run. Also, assuming the album is released two months after the first single, that'd mean we'd get this album in January, a slow sales month. I don't expect we'd get an album in January. The Christmas freeze only really applies to the AC formats because CHR and Contemporary Urban don't do it anymore. Those formats only really play Christmas music on the Eve and on that day.

When people refer to the Christmas freeze, they're not talking about playing 100% Christmas music. Radio programmers go on holiday, so they freeze their playlists. They don't add new music or change the relative spin frequency of the songs on their playlists.

I know, but it seems that in the last few years the instances of that happening were few and far between. The year that immediately comes to mind was 2006; when Beyonce's Irreplaceable became a huge hit. pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/10312That's the "Irreplaceable" thread in the Urban format (I wish I could find the CHR one) but I lived through that era and it really took off in December; when the 'freeze' was in place. ETA - found the CHR one - pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/7382?page=24

Ya'll just need to get over the "omg, how dare she release a single during the freeze" ... "Omg what is she thinking".. "Omg this album is already a flop"
Get over it people.. Be grateful she's still putting out music. Love Mariah for her music not for her chart positions..

Given her past history with this album, just because another lead single will be released, it's no guarantee that the album will be released a few weeks later. I wouldn't be surprised if the album is released in 2014.

Amen, ANGRY L. Wish more fans would focus less on what, in the end, isn't all that important, especially at this point in her career. Yeah, we all want our faves to do well, but there comes a point where we have to accept they're not going to smash like they did in the past and that's OK. I have a vision that in this track, Mimi references titles of a lot of her love songs. Probably won't come to be, but ya never know.

Katy Perry name-drops Mariah on "This Is How We Do" on her new album. The song critics said sounds like early Mariah sounds more like Whitney to me.

Letting go is easier said than done let Mimi do a PSA for those who need it. Can't wait for the mumbo jumbo she comes up with to explain how she chose the name!

I know it was rumored to be the title of the album, but do you think it will be? She never really confirmed it, which is why I was surprised by the single.

I don't think she confirmed it yet however both Nick and Jermaine called the album that so I'm guessing they have inside info? If it was just a working title I don't think those two would call it that.

It just gives me I'm That Chick teas. Remember when E=MC2 was originally referenced as such?

Ha I'm guessing you must had inspired my thought then - I thought that was a bit too creative for me, I never make links like that...

Rodney produced it. Larry was with Rodney in LA when the track was arranged. JD produced the two others that Larry worked on by himself in Philly.
And who cares how many "first singles" she's released? The fact of the matter is, if the songs aren't on the album (and I'm sure "Beautiful" will be), they aren't singles from the album...such a useless, bitchy argument.

music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/week-ending-oct-13-2013-albums-miley-bangs-150102690.htmlWeek Ending Oct. 13, 2013. Albums: Miley Bangs Out A #1 By Paul Grein Mariah Carey's 2005 album The Emancipation Of Mimi tops the 6 million mark in U.S. sales this week. The album was #1 for two weeks and received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. This is Carey's third album to be certified at the 6 million mark. It follows Daydream (7,657,000) and Music Box (7,277,000). Carey has two other albums on Nielsen SoundScan's running list of the 200 best-selling albums in its history: Merry Christmas (5,299,000) and Mariah Carey (4,885,000). (The latter album, Carey's 1990 debut, sold additional copies prior to Nielsen SoundScan's 1991 launch.) Carey is the only female solo artist with five albums on Nielsen SoundScan's top 200 list. How about Celine Dion? She currently has four. The Colour Of My Love has sold 4,558,000 copies, which puts it 10K copies short of making the list.

Butterfly definitely is her strongest cohesive and thematic album- and then probably Emancipation. I'd say Emotions is more cohesive and thematic than almost any of her albums. All of the tracks have an older R&B influence sonically. In terms of a lyrical concept/theme, then Daydream and Butterfly are probably the most cohesive. You could add in E=MC2, too, to the extent that her theme lyrically was to be free, have fun, etc. That album actually has a sonic concept, too, even if many people don't care for it.

Memoirs is hands down her most cohesive album. A lot of the rest bounce around between hip-hop and balladry. The-Dream gave Memoirs that cohesive and consistent sound, which coincidentally is the exact reason people complain about that album.

Of course he wants to work with her again SHE made his production POPPIN' with that unmistakable voice that cascades from wall to motherf**king wall and that butter like tone and innate ability to make a orgasmic melody. Neither of them are in that mid 90's space so I advise her to not look back. I agree. Mariah and Walter definitely had a chemistry that she may not have had with anyone else. But at the same time, if she isn't feeling working with him again, so be it. Mariah has basically complete control over her music, so it almost doesn't matter with whom she writes/produces. I miss the musicianship Walter brought to Mariah's music, but who's to say that would even come across if they made music together now?

Releasing a new single right before the holiday freeze when she's been struggling anyway is so stupid. I wonder if they're going to rush release the album right before Christmas to try to get holiday sales. What freeze? Aren't AC stations the only ones that go all-holiday with their playlists? And Top 40 and the like barely play any holiday music apart from the few days leading into Christmas. Stations do the year-end countdown thing, but that's more so the last week or two of the year. I don't know what "freeze" will occur in November and early December. What am I missing?
