I'm really looking forward to Eric's album.
As far as his 'image'-I think it is a schtick; just like so many artists. He decided to portray himself as an outsider (I do agree with others that this really isn't true-country radio has been good to him; a lot better than some other talented artists who don't get play while crap sails to the top. And the sunglasses-while I don't mind them-are certainly an affectation) for branding. Justin Moore has his exaggerated twang/I'm a good ole boy thing, Blake had his Twitter bad boy image, Luke has his spring break party boy image, etc, etc. They all play up their 'images'-marketing at its best. I don't blame Eric for working his angle like everyone else-but yeah, if there is whining about country radio it isn't attractive. I'd also rather listen to his heavy metal song than all the sleazy "I wanna get you drunk and get with you baby" songs, but that is personal preference.
He is talented and sassy (love Country Music Jesus), and I prefer an album with variety-I'd probably be bored with an album full of all very traditional country and I loved Chief for that reason.

Another Eric will be releasing an album in February. This short Billboard article talks about the success that Eric Paslay has had with "Friday Night", and it says that the still-untitled album is due out sometime in February.

Was hoping this would be announced soon. With all the debuts announced lately, I'd assume Cole Swindell is next.

They said that it wouldn't be out till sometime after the new year. That's a newer trend by Big Machine Label Group. Which I hate by the way.

Well, "Drunk Last Night" likely won't be peaking until sometime in January or February, so that would fit the time frame (of after the new year), no? DLN has #1 written all over it and it's easily going to go Gold+. Unless the album is unfinished, it would make no sense to not release it sometime in February or maybe March, which is what I'm expecting.

I am just antsy for the dates. Riser is (currently) February (according to several CMA-week interviews). But unless I Hold On gets going I feel like that's a longshot... so I'd say March is realistic for Dierks. (Which coincides with a rumored spring tour.)

Not that your wrong, just that "Drunk Last Night" seems to be picking up steam and could get to a peak by New Years (Maybe mid January). I will say that I do believe their album has taken a while to finish. They said they had been working on it for quite a bit of time when interviewed on Sirius/XM last month.

They were in the studio last week, too. Also, with the holidays coming, the charts will all but freeze in about 6 weeks... so DLN should peak in late January or early February.

"Drunk Last Night" is still more than 20 million away from #1. It's gaining very well, sure, but I don't see it topping the chart by Christmas. The charts will start to slow down by mid-December anyway, and they won't really pick up again until the second week of January. So, I see DLN peaking mid/late January at the earliest. That gives them plenty of time to ready an album release for February/March.

^ As long as they get the album out there before releasing that second single, I'll be a happy camper. Some of these artist are now putting out two singles before the album and I understand why labels like BMLG do that, but that just irritates me.

The Woman I Am is fantastic. I'm about to wrap up my first run-through of the album and I already love it more than 100 Proof, which is certainly a tall order considering that's one of my favorite albums. The new Kellie Pickler record is just phenomenal though. It takes all the great neo-traditional country flare of her last project, but the album leans more on the uptempo side of things, which is just perfect for my personal preferences. That said, the ballads on this record are just as noteworthy. There's a lot of single options on this record though imo, so hopefully Black River can get her some leverage on the charts with something, whether it's with "Little Bit Gypsy" or another single ("Closer to Nowhere" stands out the most to me).

Since she's been the topic in a couple other threads in the last day or so, as it stands now, Kelly Clarkson can be added to the TBD list for next year. In this interview from a last month, she talks just a little about it ( youtube). Said when she was previously approached to make this album, they wanted her to, understandably, go the Miranda or Carrie route. Instead she/they held off to get material that leans more on the soulful side and they finally got a group of songs together like that. She gave Travis Tritt and Trisha as some examples. She's also been saying that they're about 2-3 songs away from finishing it. She's supposedly releasing two albums next year and the impression that I've gotten is that the country one is higher on the list of priorities, I could be completely wrong on that though. Aside from that, it's mostly a mystery. If I had to guess, I'd say the 2-3 songs that they're still looking for would be more on the single/commercial side of the album because I don't think she'd have much of a problem trying to find album tracks that've been kicking it around town in the style she was going after. I also have a feeling based on her past work (not necessarily the released stuff) and the leanings of live performance arrangements that it'll have a "dirty" sound to it, for lack of a better word. It'll probably also be heavily influenced by 90's country. I'm also picturing the current material being more along the lines of TBP stuff rather than Carrie's. I wouldn't look to TIU as being an indication of what any of it would sound like. I write that one off as a one time thing that her friends wrote for her that was cute and timely for her and they needed something at that time for several events that they were doing. However it ends up, I'm looking forward to it because I've been waiting almost 7 years to finally get a full dedicated release here.

I can hardly wait. Apparently it is being released through Wal-Mart on Nov. 19. Also, his final Las Vegas show will be aired on CBS on Black Friday (Nov. 29). Garth News

Hmm, that article was just posted yesterday. If the date changed it must have just happened, or maybe Wal-Mart put up the listing prematurely. That date did seem rather soon to me without any previous announcement. Hopefully it won't be too long.

That should be a pretty cool box set from Garth. Doesn't sound like it will have original material on it, so I'm still hoping he has a new single sometime in early 2014 with maybe a brand new studio album sometime during the summer.

I have been anxiously awaiting a new studio album and i hope he relases one too. I think this may be a big year for Garth.

I found another source that mentions the Nov. 19 release date for the Garth set. It sounds like it might actually be a CD/DVD combo. Link

Ugh! I heard a piece of a Garth interview on WSM650 yesterday while I was out running errands yesterday and he was talking about old Haggard & Jones records. I was only half paying attention in between running in and out of stores and forgot about it til I read this. Wish I had listened now.

More information on new Garth Brooks music:
Just in time for the holidays, Garth Brooks has announced that he will be releasing a 4-CD box set.
The new release, titled ‘Blame it All on My Roots: Five Decades of Influences’ and available exclusively in Walmart stores, features Brooks singing covers of 40 songs from artists who have influenced him in his career, including James Taylor, Gladys Knight, Jerry Lee Lewis and Otis Redding, among others.
The songs will be organized to represent specific music types, with each of the four discs containing 10 songs from a certain genre. The discs will be titled ‘Country Classics,’ ‘Classic Rock,’ ‘Blue Eyed Soul,’ which will cover R&B hits, and ‘Melting Pot,’ featuring songs that don’t fit the other categories — like Cat Stevens’ ‘Wild World’ and Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘Mrs. Robinson.’
Trisha Yearwood will be singing backup for Brooks on a number of the recordings and will be featured in a duet covering ‘After the Fire is Gone,’ originally by Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn.
‘Blame It All on My Roots’ is set for release on Nov. 19. Brooks will appear in a live television event on CBS to promote the release on Nov. 29. ‘Garth Brooks Live From Las Vegas’ will capture the iconic entertainer in the final performance of his one-man show at the Wynn Las Vegas. That show will also feature Brooks performing some of the selections from the box set.

I saw that they were releasing this last night when looking at a holiday ad that was released yesterday as well. Included will be "The Ultimate Hits" CD/DVD previously released and the Wynn live DVD performance). This is going to hit stores on Thanksgiving day, not next Tuesday.

^Walmart's original listing showed the Nov. 19 release date. That's probably where the Boot article that countryhistorian referenced, as well as articles on other websites, got that date from. At some point yesterday Walmart revised the listing and changed the date to Thanksgiving.
