Two versions of "Here We Are"? Hmmm... My favorite Gloria song. Kinda ironic that she released a Portuguese version years ago, and she's finally done a Spanish version as part of a Brazilian album.

It's one of my favorites, as well. So many lovely ballads, she's had.

Way way too many songs I've enjoyed throughout the years!!

Wow... her Portuguese is actually pretty great here!
I've always liked her Portuguese on all the tracks she's recorded throwout her career, but this one is a HARD song to sing (since is so fast) and she did a great job!

The ones I've heard are "Toda Pra Você" (Here We Are), "Se Tenho Que Te Perder" (Don't Wanna Lose You), "Amor Fatal" (Your Love Is Bad For Me) and "Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar" (from her Standards album). Not sure if there are more

Obrigado! Ooh yeah, that's what I meant to say ("Toda Pra Você") and I've got "Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar." Will check out the others. Thanks, sis.

I've been practicing it for a year on Duo Lingo and there's lots of Brazilians in the area, it's a beautiful language. I've also been listening to Kizomba, from the Portuguese speaking countries in Africa, mostly Cape Verde and Angola. Discovered it when I went to Portugal in 2018, worth checking out...if you want suggestions, PM me. :)

The album sounds great so far. If I had to choose, I would say ‘Hoy’ is the best version on the album... it sounds so good!

I ordered the CD on Amazon, which is expected to arrive next week. I may wait until then to listen, as I've only heard a few pre-release tracks.

I just listened to the new album and it is just so so good. I love the new arrangements on all the songs. Gloria's voice has held up quite well even after all these years. I do like that some of the songs were re-arranged a semitone or two lower than on the originals.

I wasn't sure how Gloria's album would fare on the Billboard 200, though I thought it would fare OK on the Album Sales chart- though it didn't even make the top 100. 😞 It brings up the rear, at No. 100, on Current Album Sales.
Furthermore- it's not in the top 50 on Latin Albums. It does appear on Tropical Albums, at No. 8.
I'll be picking up my copy from the post office today. :)

^^ Thought it would fare better than that... oh well, I'm just happy to have it. Plus she's worth a fortune so we don't have to worry.

^Vert true.
I listened to the album this a.m.- I like it a lot.
Not as familiar with her Spanish-language music as the English: am I hearing things, or does she borrow from the melody of "Words Get in the Way" for "Más Allá"? Also reminds me of Jon Secada's "If You Go" in spots.

I have not listened to it yet.
But I'm not surprised that it didn't fare better. Gloria is a legacy act and they don't always get the push/promotion they deserve.
If she did reggaeton and high profile features, it would've gotten more streams unfortunately.

Also reminds me of Jon Secada's "If You Go" in spots. Now that you mention it, I do notice both of those too. Her husband Emilio produced "Words Get In The Way", "If You Go", and "Más Allá" so that would make sense if elements of both found their way into other songs. The melody from "Words..." and "If You Go" and the key change from that too. Lyrically speaking, "Más Allá" is of a religious, spiritual nature. "Words Get In The Way" was re-recorded in Spanish as "No Me Vuelvo a Enamorar" and it is available on her Exitos De Gloria Estefan album, though it is not a direct translation.

^Yes. Not having heard "Más Allá" prior, when I heard her start singing it on the new album, I'm like, "I didn't see "Words Get in the Way" listed in parentheses on the tracklist. She could have added herself to the song as a co-writer, given she uses the lovely melody from "Words..." in spots.

I did like how she did re-interpreted versions of some of her Spanish songs like "Con Los Años Que Me Quedan". It became "If We Were Lovers." And then of course the early Miami Sound Machine song "A Toda Maquina" became "Orange Express" on Eyes Of Innocence.
