Being a small child in the 80s and recollections of radio, and then growing into teenage years and really appreciating her (their) music, I’m always shocked to see just how successful the ballads were. I guess the uptempos were so revolutionary and unique that they stand out in the discography.

Every time I revisit her music, I'll see the ballad song title and completely forget how it goes. Then as soon as it starts, I'm like OH YEAH. I think her uptempos have done a better job of saturating pop culture over the years.
Funny enough, the ballad I remember the most from her is "Cuts Both Ways." I would have sworn it was a huge hit. It did peak at #1 on AC (but only 44 overall).
