This girl is bringing it with the tracks she has been releasing. Queen and Dance Apocalyptic were good, and now so is Primetime. I foresee a bright future for Janelle.

I didn't really like "Q.U.E.E.N." or "Dance Apocalyptic" but I LOVE "Primetime".

I didn't really like "Q.U.E.E.N." or "Dance Apocalyptic" but I LOVE "Primetime". Same. What's up with Miguel on the chorus though? The harmony doesn't fit, it just kind of sits on top awkwardly until she comes back in to belt over him.

As a whole I'm not feeling the album. I was expecting something more... energetic? Idk. Anyway, I only kept 5 tracks, but those 5 I really LOVE. The collaboration with Solange and "We Were Rock & Roll" are my favorites; the latter especially is so groovy and melodic!

PrimeTime gives me legit goosebumps. Even as a fan, I did not know she had it in her. She is coming for that mainstream, y'all. Only through Rock and Roll so far but loving everything so far. Can't wait to pick this up.

Incredible album. More soulful, yet accessible than the last. The radio interludes are funny. I get a Lauryn Hill vibe throughout the album along with Stevie and MJ. Great effort.
Favorites, besides the singles - Electric Lady We Were Rock & Roll Victory Can't Live Without You Love Sally Ride Dorothy Dandridge Eyes
Ms. Monae is 2 for 2!

Great progress. She'll most likely make a top 10 debut with around 18k sold than The ArchAndroid. Go, Janelle!
Currently, the album's #4 on US iTunes.

The album is amazing. I wasn't really anticipating it as much as I should have because I didn't think she could deliver after The ArchAndroid but she really did! Some similarities to the previous effort but I chalk that up to natural and organic progression, but as a whole, it's a lot more accessible and a much easier, smoother listen. It will be hard for upcoming albums to challenge this one for the album of the year title in my eyes...

So far I have to say this is my favorite album of the year. I'm not sure it beats out the The ArchAndroid quite yet, but it's still pretty close to it for now. "Ghetto Woman" is pretty much the "Locked Inside" of the album, but more elevated and with more musicality. The Stevie influences within the production of it are obvious (and with some other tracks of the album too), but wow just sensational.

What An Experience is such a lark; an oddity that is so lightweight, it doesn't belong on this album but it is probably my favorite song of hers after Primetime, EASILY. She can clearly do mainstream if she wanted to. She chooses to be a character. This album is flawless. I kinda lost interest around Victory but it came back for What An Experience. It should be nominated for AOTY to be honest.

Solid album. It has several high points and a handful of middle of the road tracks. Nothing bad on it though.
"Sally Ride" and "Electric Lady" are far away my favorites. Other highlights include "Give 'Em What They Love" and "Can't Live Without Your Love", as well as the singles released.
Such a talent.
