www.billboard.com/articles/news/1559180/fall-out-boy-tops-kid-cudi-on-billboard-200-chartFall Out Boy Tops Kid Cudi on Billboard 200 Chart By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | April 24, 2013 One rock band replaces another atop the Billboard 200 albums chart, as Fall Out Boy's "Save Rock and Roll" debuts at No. 1, bumping last week's champ, Paramore's "Paramore," down to No. 12. Fall Out Boy bows with 154,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the quartet's third-biggest sales week ever. Only the No. 1 arrival of "Infinity On High" in 2007 (260,000) and a busy Christmas frame for "From Under the Cork Tree" in 2005 (157,000) were larger. Fall Out Boy had been in a race for No. 1 this week with Kid Cudi, who sees his new "Indicud" debut at No. 2 with 136,000. Initially, industry sources had forecast both albums -- released last Tuesday (April 16) -- to sell around 150,000. However, Kid Cudi fell behind a bit once the weekend hit, and Fall Out Boy pulled ahead by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, April 21. As for Paramore, their self-titled album tumbles down from No. 1 to No. 12 in its second week, moving 27,000 copies with a 74% drop in sales. It's the second No. 1-debuting album to fall straight out of the top 10 in its second week this year. Earlier, Chris Tomlin's "Burning Lights" collapsed 1-22 on the Feb. 2-dated chart. Back inside the top 10 this week, Justin Timberlake's "The 20/20 Experience" is steady at No. 3 (76,000; down 22%) as is Blake Shelton's "Based On a True Story" at No. 4 (42,000; down 31%). Rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs tally its first top 10 -- and thus highest charting album ever -- as "Mosquito" bows at No. 5 with 38,000 sold. It's not the best sales week for the group, however. 2006's "Show Your Bones" started with 56,000 when it debuted (and peaked) at No. 11. "Mosquito" is the third and final top 10 arrival this week, as the next-highest entry belongs to Christian rap artist Andy Mineo, who starts at No. 11 with his debut studio set, "Heroes for Sale" (28,000). As for the rest of the top 10: the Band Perry's "Pioneer" is a non-mover at No. 6 (37,000; down 35%), Brad Paisley's "Wheelhouse" slips 2-7 (34,000; down 66%) and Lil Wayne's "I Am Not a Human Being II" is stationary at No. 8 (31,000; down 27%). Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "The Heist" returns to the top 10 (16-9 with 30,000; up 14%) as its latest single, "Can't Hold Us," continues to make waves. It rises 17-12 on Pop Songs this week (aka Mainstream Top 40 airplay on billboard.biz) while its video premiered on April 17. Closing out the top 10 is P!nk's "The Truth About Love," rising four slots, with 28,000 (down 1%). Over on the Digital Songs chart, P!nk remains at No. 1 with "Just Give Me a Reason" (featuring Nate Ruess), selling another 262,000 (down 7%). Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Can't Hold Us" is steady at No. 2 with 245,000, but earns the largest percentage gain in the top 10: it's up by 17%. Rihanna's "Stay" (featuring Mikky Ekko) climbs 4-3 (162,000; down 8%), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop" rises 5-4 (147,000; down 12%) and Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors" ascends 8-5 (142,000; up 12%). Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise" slides 3-6 (129,000; down 28%), Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man" dips 6-7 (128,000; down 23%), Icona Pop's "I Love It" (featuring Charli XCX) is up 10-8 (127,000; up 9%) and Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" is a non-mover at No. 9 (just under 127,000; up 2%). Daft Punk earns the highest debut of the week, as its new "Get Lucky" (featuring Pharrell Williams) bows at No. 10 with 113,000. It's the best sales week for any single by the electronic/dance duo. "Get Lucky" arrives with only three days of sales, as it was released on Friday, April 19. The latest tracking week ended at the close of business on Sunday, April 21. Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending April 21) totaled 5.40 million units, down less than 1% compared with the sum last week (5.42 million) and down 6% compared with the comparable sales week of 2012 (5.72 million). Year to date album sales stand at 90.50 million, down 5% compared to the same total at this point last year (95.56 million). Digital track sales this past week totaled 23.71 million downloads, down 7% compared with last week (25.50 million) and down 8% stacked next to the comparable week of 2012 (25.91 million). Year to date track sales are at 433.99 million, down 2% compared to the same total at this point last year (444.47 million). Next week's Billboard 200 competes with the same week in 2012 when: Jack White debuted at No. 1 with his solo debut album "Blunderbuss" (138,000) while the previous week's leader, Lionel Richie's "Tuskegee," fell to No. 3 (78,000; down 31%).

music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/week-ending-april-21-2013-albums-rock-roll-144808617.htmlWeek Ending April 21, 2013. Albums: “Rock And Roll” At #1 By Paul Grein | Chart Watch Fall Out Boy’s Save Rock And Roll enters The Billboard 200 at #1. It’s only the third album with the immortal phrase “rock and roll” in its title to reach #1. The Rolling Stones, appropriately, had the first: 1974’s It’s Only Rock ’N Roll. Kid Rock had the second: 2007’s Rock N Roll Jesus. Note: Three other albums with the shorthand term “rock” in their titles have reached #1: Elton John’s Rock Of The Westies (1975), AC/DC’s For Those About To Rock We Salute You (1981) and Rod Stewart’s Still The Same…Great Rock Classics Of Our Time (2006). Save Rock And Roll displaces Paramore’s Paramore from the #1 spot. This marks the first time that albums by American rock bands have topped the chart in back-to-back weeks since September, when Dave Matthews Band’s Away From The World dislodged matchbox twenty’s North. Save Rock And Roll is Fall Out Boy’s second #1 album. The Illinois-based group first topped the chart in February 2007 with Infinity On High. That album spawned a pair of top 20 hits: “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race” (#2) and “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs” (#11). The new album has, so far, spawned one top 30 hit: “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up” (#26). The band released one album in between these two chart-toppers: Folie A Deux, which stalled at #8 in December 2008. After that, the band members took some time off to pursue solo projects. Save Rock And Roll sold 100K digital copies (out of 154K total). That puts it at #1 on Top Digital Albums. The album also enters The Official U.K. chart at #2, just behind Michael Buble’s new To Be Loved. Buble’s album is expected to debut at #1 in the U.S. next week. (More on that below.) Kid Cudi’s Indicud debuts at #2. It’s the highest-charting album to date for the 29-year old hip-hopper. It tops Man On The Moon: The End Of Day (#4) and Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager (#3). I’m rooting for Kid’s next album to reach #1, if only so his first four studio albums will show a progression of 4-3-2-1. The release of Indicud was pushed up a week after the album leaked on the Internet. Trivia note: Kid Cudi just missed joining the aforementioned Kid Rock as the only “Kid” act with a #1 album. The Kidz Bop Kids crew have had five #2 albums. Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience holds at #3 for the second week. It has ranked in the top three for its entire five-week life. The album has sold 1,600,000 copies, which is more than either of Timberlake’s previous solo albums had sold at the same point. Timberlake’s first solo album, Justified, sold 1,010,000 copies in its first five weeks. His second, FutureSex/LoveSounds, sold 1,269,000 copies. You don’t need me to tell you that the trend in sales usually runs the other way. Sales usually start to taper off when artists have been around for years. Blake Shelton’s Based On A True Story… holds at #4 for the third week. It returns to #1 on Top Country Albums. This is its second week on top. This ties Shelton’s previous album, 2011’s Red River Blue, for his longest stay atop the country chart. Shelton’s 2010 greatest hits album, Loaded: The Best Of Blake Shelton, rebounds from #88 to #60 in its 91st week. It’s #1 on Top Catalog Albums. Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ fourth studio album, Mosquito, debuts at #5. It’s the band’s first top 10 album. Show Your Bones hit #11 in 2006. “Just Give Me A Reason” by P!nk featuring Nate Ruess holds at #1 on Hot Digital Songs for the fourth week (262K). That’s the longest run at #1 on the digital chart for a female-led collabo since “We Found Love” by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris had five weeks on top in late 2011. Will it also hold at #1 for a second week on the Hot 100? You’ll find out later today when we post Chart Watch: Songs. Here’s the low-down on this week’s top 10 albums. The Top Five: Fall Out Boy’s Save Rock And Roll debuts at #1 (154K). It’s the group’s fourth top 10 album…Kid Cudi’s Indicud debuts at #2 (136K). It’s his third top five album…Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience holds at #3 for the second week in its fifth week (76K). It has been in the top five the entire time… Blake Shelton’s Based On A True Story… holds at #4 for the third week in its fourth week (42K). It has ranked in the top five the entire time…Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Mosquito debuts at #5 (38K). It’s the band’s first top 10 album. The Second Five: The Band Perry’s Pioneer holds at #6 for the second week in its third week (37K). It has been in the top 10 the entire time…Brad Paisley’s Wheelhouse drops from #2 to #7 in its second week (34K)… Lil Wayne’s I Am Not A Human Being II holds at #8 for the second week in its fourth week (31K)…Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ The Heist rebounds from #16 to #9 in its 28th week (30K). This is its fourth week in the top 10…P!nk’s The Truth About Love rebounds from #14 to #10 in its 31st week (28K). This is its 12th week in the top 10. Paramore’s Paramore drops from #1 to #12 in its second week. That’s the biggest drop out of the #1 spot since Chris Tomlin’s Burning Lights tumbled from #1 to #22 in January. Four other albums drop out of the top 10 this week. Eric Church’s Caught In The Act drops from #5 to #15. Tyga’s Hotel California drops from #7 to #18. Volbeat’s Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies drops from #9 to #31. Stone Sour’s House Of Gold & Bones Pt. 2 drops from #10 to #45. Andy Mineo’s solo debut album, Heroes For Sale, debuts at #11. The Christian hip-hopper is also a member of the group 116 Clique. Sarah Brightman’s 11th studio album, Dreamchaser, debuts at #17. It’s her third top 20 album, following La Luna (#17 in 2000) and Symphony (#13 in 2008). Brightman originated the role of Christine in The Phantom Of The Opera, both on London’s West End (in October 1986) and on Broadway (in January 1988). Olly Murs’ third studio album, Right Place Right Time, debuts at #19. The album topped the Official U.K. chart for two weeks in December. It was Murs’ second #1 album in the U.K. In Case You Didn’t Know hit #1 in December 2011. The Flaming Lips’ 15th studio album, The Terror, debuts at #21. By tragic coincidence, The Terror was released on April 16, the day after a devastating terror attack in Boston. Iron & Wine’s fifth studio album, Ghost On Ghost, debuts at #26. There are two other “ghostly” debuts in the top 30 this week: Adrian Younge Presents Twelve Reasons To Die Starring Ghostface Killah debuts at #27. Ghost B.C.’s Infestissuman debuts at #28. Pitch Perfect rebounds from #35 to #29 in its 26th week. It’s the highest-ranking soundtrack to a theatrically-released movie for the 16th week…Live In Concert, an EP by Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y, debuts at #30. That’s not so hot, considering both artists reached the top 10 with their last studio albums. Willie Nelson and Family’s Let’s Face The Music And Dance debuts at #49. Nelson, who has been recording since 1962, turns 80 on March 30. The Family was also credited on a pair of live albums from Nelson’s heyday: 1978’s Willie And Family Live and 1980’s Honeysuckle Rose. Another legendary artist, Fred Astaire, introduced “Let’s Face The Music And Dance” in the 1936 movie Follow The Fleet. Irving Berlin wrote the songs for the movie. Sound City—Real To Reel holds at #1 on Top Music Videos for the fourth week. Michael Buble’s To Be Loved enters The Official U.K. chart at #1. It’s Buble’s third #1 album in the U.K., following Crazy Love and Christmas. To Be Loved, which includes a collabo with fellow Canadian star Bryan Adams and another with the in-the-tabs Reese Witherspoon, is expected to debut at #1 in the U.S. next week. Coming Attractions: In addition to Buble’s album, Phoenix’s Bankrupt! and Fantasia’s Side Effects Of You are eyeing big debuts. Also due: Rob Zombie’s Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, Snoop Lion’s Reincarnated, will.i.am’s #willpower, Tom Jones’ Spirit In The Room, Tate Stevens’ Tate Stevens and Love Has Come For You by Steve Martin & Edie Brickell.

www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/1559976/chart-moves-sarah-brightman-olly-murs-make-top-20-debuts-on-billboard-200Chart Moves: Sarah Brightman, Olly Murs Make Top 20 Debuts on Billboard 200 This week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, Fall Out Boy replaced Paramore at No. 1, as the former's new "Save Rock and Roll" debuted with 154,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In the runner-up position, Kid Cudi bowed with "Indicud," shifting 136,000. Elsewhere on the Billboard 200 this week there were a number of movers and shakers. Let's take a look at some of them... -- Sarah Brightman, "Dreamchaser” -- No. 17 -- The singer's new album arrives at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 1 on the Classical Crossover Albums chart. On the latter chart, it marks her seventh leader on the list -- the second-best all-time sum. Only Andrea Bocelli has more No. 1s (nine). Brightman had previously been in a four-way tie for second place with Il Divo, John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra, who all have six No. 1s. Brightman's album sold 20,000 in its first week with 54% of that via non-traditional retailers (which includes sales from a concert ticket/album bundle promotion). -- Olly Murs, "Right Place Right Time" -- No. 19 -- In the same week that the British pop star's breakthrough single "Troublemaker" reaches the top 10 on Mainstream Top 40 (11-10), his debut U.S. album bows with 19,000. The album was initially slated for a Sept. 25, 2012, release (with a different title and tracklist) but was then pushed to Dec. 4 and then, finally, April 16. -- Iron and Wine, "Ghost on Ghost" -- No. 26 -- Twelve percent of the album's debut week were vinyl LP sales, with 55% of those coming from independent retail stores. Like some of the other indie store-friendly acts on the chart this week, Iron & Wine's new release was seemingly timed to take advantage of traffic at retail generated by Record Store Day on April 20. -- Jessie Ware, "Devotion" -- No. 79 -- After briefly charting for one week on Heatseekers Albums last year on PRM/Universal Island/UMe as a digital-exclusive title (No. 17, Sept. 8), the album returns with a new label (PRM/Cherrytree/Interscope) in wide release. The set's track "Wildest Moments" was iTunes' free single of the week last week, helping the set return with 6,000 sold. The bulk of that sum -- nearly 5,000 -- were generated by download sales (presumably via the iTunes Store thanks to its free single promotion). -- Daft Punk, "Discovery" -- No. 116 -- In the same week the duo nets its highest-charting single ever on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Get Lucky" (No. 19), its best-selling album collects an 18% sales increase, rising 135-116. With 4,000 sold, it's the effort's largest week since January 2002. -- Chris Tomlin, "How Great Is Our God: The Essential Collection" -- No. 122 -- The singer's best-of compilation reenters with a 172% increase after his tour started back up again. (He'd been off the road for about a month.) Its total sales rise to 268,000. His most recent studio set, the former No. 1 "Burning Lights," also shines bright this week, zooming 137-74 with a 98% gain.

Pink's The Truth About Love is having some amazing legs. 31 weeks in, and it's in the top 10. She's been really consistent with her releases since I'm Not Dead.

^Yes! TTAL has now scanned over 1.4 million. With a 4th hit, she could possibly scan 2 million.
