I used to love their full album preview streams and would visit all the time to see if there was something I'd like. I haven't been there in years, though.

I feel bad for those who were laid off by the shutdown of the business. I used to love their full album preview streams and would visit all the time to see if there was something I'd like. They used to get a lot of the album previews as exclusives. Lately some artists have been doing the same sort of thing with iTunes (Carrie Underwood, Frank Ocean, and Justin Timberlake are the first ones that come to mind). I haven't been there in years, though. Same here. I had sort of forgotten about it. Clearly many had as well. I guess the time had come and it wasn't profitable/successful for them anymore.

I feel bad for those who were laid off by the shutdown of the business. Me too--Spinner's Dan Reilly is a great guy and one of my favorites among the music writers I follow on Twitter. I used to love their full album preview streams and would visit all the time to see if there was something I'd like. They used to get a lot of the album previews as exclusives. Lately some artists have been doing the same sort of thing with iTunes (Carrie Underwood, Frank Ocean, and Justin Timberlake are the first ones that come to mind).[/quote] Pitchfork Advance hurt them too, I'm sure - while AOL Music (the main site) got a lot of pop albums, Spinner got some of the indie stuff that Pitchfork has been premiering now.

Aww... I liked going there until I decided to get Spotify. Goodbye AOL Music. I'm going to miss the AOL Sessions.

I remember Taylor Swift's AOL Sessions. R.I.P AOL Music. It had it's moments. :)
But nowadays a lot of artists are doing Wal-Mart Soundcheck performances.

I remember downloading 30-sec clips of songs from AOL Music in the 90s and it was such a novel concept. :'(

I remember when AOL music premiered "Miss Independent", "American Life", and "Me Against The Music". Haven't visited there in years but that place did give me a lot of memories of constantly playing those songs

The biggest disappointment is the loss of AOL Sessions. I LOVVVVVED Christina's back in the day as well as Keyshia Cole's. So sad.
