No numbers yet, but...
FUN CHART FACTS: This week’s chart (see below) has yet to close, but our crack retail department is already handicapping today’s releases for next Tuesday. And the winner is…Capitol Nashville’s Lady Antebellum, which should debut at #1 with Interscope’s Jay-Z-helmed The Great Gatsby soundtrack and Capitol’s Now 46 fighting it out for the second biggest chart newcomers of the week. With Mother's Day this Sunday, look for holdover titles like Reprise’s Michael Buble and Capitol's Rod Stewart, which debuts on the Top 50 this week, to also show significant sales. We’ll crunch the numbers for you as they come in, so stay tuned.

Why does HIT say "holdover" for Rod Stewart? His album is out this week.

^ Read the sentence again. It's just strangely structured. They're only calling Bublé a holdover.

ListenToIt- but, it says "which debuts on the top 50 this week"- I took that to mean the chart that was just published. As a new release and a possible benefactor from the holiday, I'd think Stewart's album would be a top 5 contender as a new release. HITS is all confused.

HolidayGuy: You're reading it like this: "look for holdover titles, like Reprise’s Michael Buble and Capitol's Rod Stewart, which debuts on the Top 50 this week, to also show significant sales" But it should be read like this: "look for holdover titles, like Reprise’s Michael Buble, and Capitol's Rod Stewart which debuts on the Top 50 this week, to also show significant sales" It's a subtle difference, but either way, the sentence is just a mess.

^LOL Yes. Especially since Stewart's album doesn't debut on the top 50 *this week*. :)

Couldn't they just word it the other way around "look for Capitol's Rod Stewart which debuts on the Top 50 this week, and holdover titles like Reprise’s Michael Buble, to also show significant sales"

^It still would be incorrect. But, not a big deal- HITS should have a better One-Day report tomorrow.

^It still would be incorrect. But, not a big deal- HITS should have a better One-Day report tomorrow. If you look at the HDD website, they already altered the text, though the syntax could still use work: "With Mother's Day this Sunday, look for a holdover title like Reprise’s Michael Bublé and Capitol's Rod Stewart, which also comes out today, to show significant sales."

^Thanks, WOT. Yeah, "a holdover title like..." doesn't flow well. And the album title should be mentioned, since it says, "title." OK- analyzing this way too much now. hehe *just pleased that HITS corrected the initial post*

Gatsby might open with 100k but probably increase the week after. It's full of big names singing unreleased songs.. Beyonce, Lana Del Rey, Florence...

YOUR ONE-DAYS: Continuing Nashville's run at the upper reaches of the album chart, Lady Antebellum should take the top spot next week, while the Jay-Z-overseen Great Gatsby soundtrack at last brings hip-hop to the roaring '20s. Here are this week's key debuts:
Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville) 140-160k The Great Gatsby (Interscope) 90-95k Now 46 (Capitol) 80-85k Pistol Annies (RCA Nashville) 75-80k Rod Stewart (Capitol) 40-45k She & Him (Merge) 20-25k Music of Nashville, Vol. 2 (Big Machine) 17-20k Natalie Maines (Columbia) 17-20k
You'll note Miranda Lambert's Pistol Annies follow-up and the second set of tunes from TV's Nashville add to country's holdings among the week's new offerings. But Dixie Chicks alumna Natalie Maines' Mother is a decidedly non-Nashville set, and takes its title from her version of a song from Pink Floyd's The Wall. Speaking of down-home American values, our own Murphy says a heaping bowl of pork cracklings makes for a hearty breakfast. (5/8p)
What happened to Rod's "significant sales?"

Disappointing numbers for Lady Antebellum and Rod Stewart, but Lady A should have longevity.
Good for Pistol Annies.
Great Gatsby could sell more since the movie opens Friday.

:o @ Lady A! from 348k to 140-160k? boo.
wasn't "Downtown" a hit on country radio? and they're coming off an album that had 3 sizeable country hits, no?

Lady A will probably trend up bc of Mother's Day... but yeah, I was expecting a minimum 250kish debut.

Lower than I thought for Lady A. Hopefully they trend upwards and have good longevity. Awesome for The Great Gatsby soundtrack! It's a really solid record and has many of my faves on it(Bey, Florence, Lana, Fergie).

I saw Lady A on that VH1 morning show.
They said their new album is very different from past albums. More upbeat songs with less ballads...

YOUR TOP 15: With the Mother's Day weekend upon us, several of the albums below should benefit from last minute gift-giving. On the singles side of things, P!nk f/Nate Ruess and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will battle it out for #1 for yet another week. The two songs have been swapping the #1 and #2 spots for the past month. Last week, Macklemore's "Can't Hold Us" won the top spot by about 6,500 units. Can it hold on, or will "Just Give Me A Reason" return to the top? Stay tuned. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:
*Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville) 145-155k *The Great Gatsby (Interscope) 90-95k Michael Buble (Reprise) 80-85k *Now 46 (Capitol) 80-85k *Pistol Annies (RCA Nashville) 80-85k Justin Timberlake (RCA) 60-65k Kenny Chesney (Blue Chair/Columbia) 50-55k *Rod Stewart (Capitol) 40-45k Blake Shelton (Warner Bros. Nashville) 30-35k Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (Macklemore) 27-30k Bruno Mars (Atlantic) 27-30k Imagine Dragons (Interscope) 25-28k P!nk (RCA) 24-27k Fantasia (RCA) 20-23k *She & Him (Merge) 19-21k Florida Georgia Line (Big Machine/Republic) 19-21k *Music of Nashville, Season 1, Vol. 2 (Big Machine) 19-21k Fall Out Boy (Island/IDJ) 18-20k The Band Perry (Republic Nashville) 18-20k
*Debuts
If you're searching for a last-minute Mother's Day gift, by the way, the fine folks at UMPG say the Lavender Kush Assortment is always in good taste. (5/9p)

Buble's To Be Loved is not going to match "Crazy Love's three-week total of 437k."
He'll be at ~375k next week. Not that bad.

HITS probably lists more than 15 because the sales projections are very close for a number of titles. Those numbers are underwhelming for Rod Stewart, but maybe his album will trend upward.

Not surprised at the fall in debut sales for Lady A. With their last album, they were coming off of the immediate hype from Need You Now and its title track, as well as major Grammy success. With this album, they've got very little to work with since most of the singles from Own The Night didn't do much on the chart.
Nevertheless, Golden is an amazing album and should bode well in its legs.
