The cover is unique, I'll give it that, although it's not very appealing. I like "My Give A Damn's Busted", it will be interesting to see if she can get a string of hits.

It's nice to have her and Lee Ann Womack back on the radio; if her new CD is even REMOTELY as stunning as Ms. Womack's, then it will be really nice for two female format stalwarts to add some balance (alongside Reba, of course) to the current male-dominated airplay structure of the format.
2004 was a great year for female vocalists, and 2005 is shaping up to be evn better!!!!!

Jo Dee's own site is reporting #10 on Billboard and #9 for R&R this week... Her first Top 10 on Billboard since "Bring on The Rain" in 2001, if I'm not mistaken....

She's also up to #25 for the year in spins as well, according to Mediabase.

It almost seems like there are two JoDees -- there's feisty JoDee, who sings songs with a little attitude and spirit (Bye Bye, I'm Alright, Lesson in Leavin', the current one) and then there's self-help-book JoDee, who sings what I think are dreary songs about self-improvement.
I wish she'd stay with the Phil Vassar type of good-humored spirited stuff. But what she seems to want, as far as I can tell, is the other stuff. And I do believe artists generally should do what they want to do.
So all I can hope is that she changes her mind. Because it looks to me as if the new album is going to be mostly rehashed self-help stuff. I would like to be wrong about this, because I root for her for some reason.

I've got my fingers crossed about her new CD, especially since I LOVE 'MGADB'---it's got tons of attitude!!!!

I already have the whole thing downloaded. And her rendition of Beth Hart's Delicious Surprise is just as bad as I expected.

She was a guest on 'After Midnite with Blair Garner' last night, and guest host Larry Morgan wortld-premiered two new songs from her CD, including the extraordinary self-composed 'It Gets Better', which is the best song she's done in ages.
Morgan was blown away with the strength and sheer power of 'It Gets Better', and so was I!!!!
When she mentioned that it's been FIVE years since her last CD ('Burn' was released in April of 1998), I was absolutely stunned.
It is really wonderful to have her back on the radio; the fact that her career appears to be taking off again, just like Lee Ann Womack is, thanks to her stunning CD, will certainly go a LONG way towards getting more female voices back on the radio, especially two of the best singers out there.

I'm glad JoDee has another top 10 hit under her belt, with a good song like this.
This has been the year for female combacks. If someone would have told me LeAnn Rimes, LeeAnn Womack, and JoDee Messina, would all come back and experience success I would have laughed.
Curb sure did a good job with getting both LeAnn and JoDee back on country radio. Both have had Top 5 hits in 2005.

The self help songs really get old. She needs to rock this time. Can't wait to hear the album.

She's now #1 in Mediabase--that's wonderful!!!! Congratualtions to JoDee :) Even if it's a song that doesn't do all that much for me, I'm always happy to see any female artist make it to #1. Country has been needing more of that over the past few years, and it's gratifying to see female #1's happening with greater frequency. I also like seeing at least SOME of the superstar male acts not automatically get to #1 with every single they put out. That routine gets old, especially when the songs aren't anything very memorable.

She's now #1 in Mediabase--that's wonderful!!!! Hits #1 on Billboard's Country Singles chart as well. "Delicious Surprise" also debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Country album chart w/ 99,449 units becoming her 3rd #1 album. And over on the Top 200, debuts at No. 7 becoming her first top 10. This is quite an improvement over her best sales week to date which was "Burn" debuting w/ 61,151 units.

The fact that she's at #1, with Gretchen Wilson at #2, marks the first time that women have held the top two spots (at BB) since early 2001, when Jamie O'Neal was at #1 with 'There Is No Arizona', and Ms. Messina was at #2 with 'Burn'.

I hated this song at first....sounded too mechanical...errr...kinda karaoke-ish to me at first. After listening to it, I'm beginning to love it. I guess it's one of those songs that have to grow on ya... I love Jo Dee, so i'm sincerely hoping it does well for her. My thoughts exactly! :) I didn't like it at first, but now I can't get it out of my head!

I hope that 'Too Late To Worry' is the next single from Jo Dee. I have a feeling, though, that it will probably be 'It Gets Better' since Jo Dee wrote it and it is a ballad.
I don't think it is a hit, though. Hopefully something else is released to help her build a string of hits. 'Delicious Surprise' would probably do well, also.
