Isn't this on Randy Houser's album?

Didn't she already have her 15 Minutes? (hehe, get it?)

Yes, this probably should be listed as Randy Houser (feat. Kristy Lee Cook). This is one of the standouts on the album though I'm not sure if it's what I would have gone with. Definitely an improvement on the first two singles now that he has momentum. (Not criticizing the first two choices especially "Runnin' Outta Moonlight" which was an obvious choice for a monster hit, but there are better songs. I do understand the previous choices.) I was really expecting "Along for the Ride" to come next, but maybe that would be better suited for the 4th spot? There are legitimately 6 songs (other than this) that really should be sent to radio. It's a shame that they are so deep into the HCF era already.

I didn't listen to the whole thing yet, but the opening lines are sung by Kristy Lee (unlike the version on Randy's album).

Oh really? Did not know about that, thank you rowdawg. I hope this doesn't prevent him from releasing a single simultaneously like Taylor Swift did with "Highway Don't Care". I'll have to hear this first though to know how much of his voice he lends to this version. To those who have heard it, does it sound like it would prevent a separate Houser single?

Interesting. Looks like they're going to try and make Kristy Lee Cook happen by letting her ride Randy Houser's coattails now that he's finally begun to have his own breakthrough. Especially for a smaller label, I can't say it's a bad choice for them to try it. Everything about her strikes me as completely basic though and I've never liked her voice (thought she was a joke on American Idol tbqh), so I still don't see her doing much even if this song manages to be a moderate success. Oh really? Did not know about that, thank you rowdawg. I hope this doesn't prevent him from releasing a single simultaneously like Taylor Swift did with "Highway Don't Care". Randy Houser isn't the polarizing figure at country radio that Taylor Swift is, and she had a single going at pop radio while Highway was out, so it wasn't like she was completely absent from the airwaves. Different cases, I'd say.

I absolutely love this and "Along for the Ride" on How Country Feels; however, I'm not expecting them to be released as official singles because they might just be "too good" for the public to catch on. Both are very interesting cuts from the record and clear standouts amongst the more radio-friendly fare ala ROM, TOTW, LAC, GK, and the title track.
This (WLG) being released as a Kristy Lee single rather than a Randy single...can go either way; if this were to become a hit of some kind, it would have to be via a painstakingly slow climb up there since "15 Minutes" didn't catch on quite a few years ago.

Thanks rowdawg21. Upon seeing the thread I had a hunch that it would be a new version and would be BBR's way of trying to get Kristy a hit. I'm sure Randy will have his own single after ROM peaks in the next couple of weeks. If they don't put out a single for Randy, though, I'll be very upset. He has a LOT of momentum so I hope this is able to help Kristy, just as long as it's not at the cost of another single for Randy himself. ROM has been one of the biggest hits of the year, especially in terms of sales, and it'll hit #1 pretty shortly. I always thought WLG would make for a nice single but with so many other choices I was hoping it would come later in the 'era' or not at all. "Growin' Younger", "Like A Cowboy", and especially "Goodnight Kiss" are all hits waiting to happen but some of the ballads are great songs too...I've just assumed that the ballads--"The Singer", "The Power Of A Song", & "Route 3 Box 250D"--aren't in consideration for single release, or if they did release one of them, it would be as the last single from the album. I'm hoping we get at least 2 more singles after ROM but I hope they don't count WLG as one of them, and count it as a single for Kristy instead.

Interesting decision. I knew this collaboration existed on Randy's album (I haven't listened to the rest of it other than the 2 singles though, which really needs to change), but assuming the original features Randy more than Kristy it would be very strange to see the exact version from Randy's album to get a release under Kristy's name. So I'm glad they re-recorded it. I'm one who actually enjoyed Kristy on Idol and liked "15 Minutes" and a couple other songs on her debut album ("Plant the Seed", "Not Tonight", and there were one or two more I enjoyed), so I hope she can have some success with this, but there are so many females trying to breakthrough right now (Kacey, Jana, Kellie, Maggie, Danielle, Cassadee, Lauren) that are far more talented than Kristy, that I almost hope she doesn't do anything because I'd hate for her to take up one of those very limited successful female slots. I know its unlikely, but Broken Bow has been working some magic recently so I wouldn't be surprised to see this hit the top 20 30* (since Randy's name is attached too).
*Also, that Airforce Army whatever the heck it was called song was atrocious (and should win an award for least-appealing song title ever) and I'm glad that flopped. I had totally forgotten about that for a minute, so my expectations for this song have lowered a tad.

They likely recorded both versions at the same time. The RH album version is about 20 seconds longer.

I don't think it's available to listen to yet. The only people on here who have heard it have industry connections.

Have to assume releasing a song recorded on someone else's album is a last ditch effort to see if Kristy has a shot at radio. Not like this is going to move Kristy Lee Cook records otherwise. I don't think this damages Randy's chances of getting another single at all. Probably Randy wanted to go another direction, the label wanted to give Kristy a shot, and this is the compromise. My vote is for "Power of a Song" but I would by super stokingly surprised if that happens.

They've stuck with James Wesley for a while and the label has actually been doing quite well with most of their other newer artists. Anyway, HERE is the new version of the song! I really like it. I do think it may seem like the label is trying to help Kristy's solo career out by piggybacking off of Randy Houser's success, but that might not be a bad idea. It may work, it may not...only time will tell. I loved the song from Randy's album but this version is just as good too and I will definitely be rooting for it, just as long as Houser gets his own single as well to continue promoting his own album. There are too many good tracks left on that one for him to not have a single, just because they are using this duet as KLC single featuring Randy instead. Hopefully this just frees up a spot for a different RH song to now get the nod as his next single (or 4th, 5th, etc.)

They're still releasing a follow-up,single for Randy after "Moonlight." I think while #1 is always their goal, this single should at least get Kristy back in radio's minds. It's sort of a re-intro piece for her.

Just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly...you believe that Randy will get his own single (after "Moonlight") in addition to "Wherever Love Goes" getting released (as in this will be Kristy's single)? If so, that would be a BIG relief. I LOVE this song but I really want them to treat it as a KLC single so that way we can have another great song of Randy's on the radio at the same time.

Maybe they can do like "If You See Him/Her" with Reba & Brooks & Dunn have it count as one single? Then again there's different versions which I don't think there was one for IYSH.

Randy's CD is packed with hits. What this WILL do is allow him a few grace weeks so while they won't wait 20-30 weeks for another single, they can drop single #3 for "How Country Feels" five weeks or so after Moonlight" is done. As huge a hit as it is, it's likely a very smart move to use a grace period regardless. That being said, radio may choose to play the RH version too...

^That is excellent news. While most people so far have seemingly called that just a very good radio friendly addition to the album much like Randy's current single, I find it to be a legit top of the album quality song. Probably top 3 song on the album. I was hoping for it as the 4th single, but now that I think about it, 3rd may be much better. Very good choice if that does indeed occur.
