I'm glad he stood up to those people, BUT I don't agree with the language he used. With his beliefs it certainly doesn't help him in the long run.

So you are going to tell us that you would make nice with those people after they called you an adulterer? Vince Gill, as far as I know, never cheated on his first wife, Janis Gill and not on the current one, Amy Grant. They can throw the accusations around and you are going to say 'please' and 'thank you'.

You don't have to drop F-bombs to get a point across. That's all I'm saying.

From the Boot:
Blake Shelton is getting ready to return to his role as coach for Season 5 of ‘The Voice,’ and whoever lands on his team will have the help of one of rock music’s biggest icons. Cher has been announced as a mentor on the upcoming season for Team Blake.
Shelton admits he is a big fan of Cher, who sang during the finale of Season 4 of ‘The Voice’ in June. “I lost my dad a year and a half ago,” he told Yahoo’s Reality Rocks after her performance. “And my dad’s favorite artist on Earth, bar none, no question, was Cher. My dad worshiped Cher. I wish he could have seen tonight’s episode, because I would’ve been texting him saying, ‘Hey, I met Cher! I took a picture with Cher!’”
The ‘Mine Would Be You’ singer says he thinks her legendary career will be an undeniable asset to the reality TV singing competition. “It was a real big deal to meet her,” he adds. “She’s just as viable and important to music today as she ever was.”
Cher, whose first album was released in 1965, admits she would have auditioned for ‘The Voice’ if it had been available when she was first starting her career. “Oh, gosh, yeah. Are you kidding?” she says. “I would have been like, ‘Ah! Let me in!’”
Other celebrity mentors include Taylor Swift‘s current opening act, Ed Sheeran, on Christina Aguilera‘s team, OneRepublic‘s Ryan Tedder on Adam Levine‘s team, and Miguel on Team Cee Lo Green.
Shelton has been the winning coach for the last three seasons on the hit TV show. Season 5 of ‘The Voice’ will premiere on Monday, Sept. 23 on NBC.

To clarify, I'm not mad at Vince Gill for what he said. I'm sure it was no doubt in the heat of the moment. Just wish he worded it better and i'm sure he does as well after the fact. Similar situation being last year when Chris Young dropped the f-bomb for some guy roughing up a girl ( the guy was thrown out).. right after the incident Chris Young apologized to the crowd.
As far as it helping Vince long run, saying things like that is no different than what those people are saying while doing their protests. It ends up getting you nowhere.

This agreement begins that new era, and will help both companies thrive in the digital world." "We are delighted with this multi-faceted alliance, which we are confident will generate greater overall revenue for our artists and labels, while providing a host of powerful new promotional opportunities to reach a wider audience" said WMG CEO STEVE COOPER. With this kind of new power an artist doesn't even have to be big from the WB label to succeed.

From Billboard:
The Academy of Country Music paid a rare visit to Music City on Tuesday night for the 7th Annual ACM Honors show at the Ryman Auditorium. A program designed to salute those ACM Award winners who are not awarded during the CBS telecast this past April, the night was a balanced mix of winners from both the stage and from behind the scenes in the industry.
Dierks Bentley served as host for the evening, and kicked things off with his latest single, "I Hold On," from his upcoming Riser CD. He then introduced the first presenter of the year, David Nail, who announced the winners of the industry awards. Winning in the Casino of the Year category was Las Vegas' Red Rock Casino & Resort. Taking home the Nightclub of the Year prize was Chicago's Joe's Bar, which was represented by Ed Warm – who also netted the prize for Promoter of the Year. Jerry Hufford was named Talent Buyer of the Year, representing Buck Owens' Crystal Palace in Bakersfield. The ACM did recognize one Nashville venue – as their host for the evening, the Ryman Auditorium, was named Venue of the Year.
Taking to the stage next was Deana Carter – in the middle of a media blitz for her upcoming Southern Way Of Life disc. The daughter of legendary guitarist Fred Carter, the songstress presented awards to the individual Musicians of the Year. They were; Matt Chamberlain - Percussionist/Drummer, J.T. Corenflos – Guitarist, Aubrey Haynie – Fiddle, Mike Johnson - Steel Guitar, Michael Rojas – Piano/Keyboard, Jimmie Lee Sloas - Bass Player of the Year, and Ilya Toshinsky for Specialty Instrument. Chuck Ainlay was named Audio Engineer of the Year, and Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Little Big Town) netted the prize for Producer.
The focus then shifted to the Special Awards recipients. West Coast pioneer Tommy Wiggins – instrumental in establishing the ACM Awards in the mid 1960s - was bestowed the Mae Boren Axton Award, and then saluted with a jaw-dropping performance of "Together Again" from Vince Gill and Paul Franklin.
Next up was the presentation of the Jim Reeves International Award – celebrating an act for taking country music overseas. This year's winner was Lady Antebellum, who enjoyed a successful trip overseas in 2012. In their acceptance speech, member Dave Haywood spoke of how universal their audience is – regardless of location. "You have no idea how many rednecks there are in Norway," he said to the packed crowd. Haywood and fellow member Charles Kelley stayed on stage to perform a medley of songs written by Dallas Davidson – the winner of the ACM's Songwriter of the Year award. Among the hits performed included Lady A's "We Owned The Night," as well as "I Don't Want This Night To End" and "The One That Got Away" - hits for Luke Bryan and Jake Owen, respectively. "God brought me a guitar, and changed my life for the better," said the tunesmith in his acceptance speech.
It was a sense of deja vu for the night's next winner, Jason Aldean. Given the Crystal Milestone honor for his touring accomplishments such as selling out Wrigley Field and Fenway Park, Aldean was presented the award by Alabama's Randy Owen. The superstar told the crowd that he had memories of a concert that inspired him. "I learned to be an entertainer from Alabama," he stated. "I remember when watched the '40 Hour Week tour'..I was in the second grade," he said as Owen playfully walked off the stage.
The evening then took a sentimental turn as the ACM saluted George Jones, who passed away in April. Video footage from Jones's ACM appearances over the years were shown before Chris Young took to the stage to perform a medley of 'Possum' hits such as "The Race Is On" and "The Window Up Above."
It was a one-time collaborator with Jones – Blake Shelton – that turned up next, winning the Gene Weed Special Achievement Award for expanding the boundaries of country music. Often highly irreverent in his speeches, Shelton struck a different tone. "When you get going in this business, sometimes you don't take the time to stop and look around and see how lucky you are," he spoke. "In 1994, Mae Axton encouraged me to move to Nashville, and I was completely obsessed with country music. All I dreamed about was wanting to be one of them," he said, referring to acts such as Steve Wariner, who presented him with the honor. "20 years later, I know Steve, and I have all these friends. I got to be one of them – at least for a minute," he ended.
The ACM also saluted the legendary Hank Williams and Guy Clark with the Poet's Award. Williams' granddaughter Holly saluted him in song with Jamey Johnson, while Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris saluted Clark.
The evening's final presentations were to the winners of the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award. First was the late Keith Whitley, saluted in song by Bentley and Ricky Skaggs – who performed "Don't Cheat In Our Hometown" - a song that Skaggs and Whitley performed together many times while in Ralph Stanley's band, then the highlight of the evening was Whitley's widow, Lorrie Morgan performing a duet of "Til' A Tear Becomes A Rose" with their son Jesse Keith – born two years before his father's death. The final honorees of the night were the Judds, who were paid tributes from Kree Harrison and Thompson Square. The Pioneer Award recipients were both signed to RCA by Joe Galante, who presented both Whitley's family and Wynonna with their plaques.
Proceeds from the evening will go to the ACM's charitable organization, ACM Lifting Lives. For more information, go to ACMLiftingLives.com

Its refreshing that he gave an honest answer instead of a political correct distilled one. Man is this gonna get the Carrie & Taylor troops in a irate tizzy though.

Its refreshing that he gave an honest answer instead of a political correct distilled one. Man is this gonna get the Carrie & Taylor troops in a irate tizzy though. I liked what Gary had to say about genres not really being genres anymore, but rather corporate-controlled demographics. I think he is spot-on there. And it definitely does seem like the music was more identifiably country just 10-15 years ago. I think both Taylor and Carrie have country roots--they have a great appreciation for many of the country greats, and they have a great knowledge of country music history--but I would agree that much of their current output is hardly country, or at least sonically their music doesn't have too many country elements within it. Taylor and Carrie certainly aren't alone in this, though, so I'm a little bothered that Larry King singled only those two out, because as you said, it's going to cause their fans to get really defensive and in general it'll just work up those fan-bases. The reality is that a lot of the male artists and groups are making music that, again, is really just geared at a demographic and doesn't really have much of a country sound. Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, etc...the list goes on and on and on.

I think the problem is just the content of the songs. The male artists sing about how country they are and themes that pander to that lifestyle so the fans don't notice that the music isn't very country because the song is trying so hard to force it in other ways, as oppose to Carrie and Taylor who just sing songs about other things.

An article about the Keith Urban concert in Cleveland. The one he was forced to postpone last night. I almost went to this show but ended up not being able to do. Going to try and get tickets possible, if I can, to the redo show on Sunday. But I thought I'd share this especially for the rave reviews for Little Big Town For the first time in memory, a headliner at Blossom Music Center was unable to make the show. Country superstar Keith Urban was in New York for the debut of his new album, “Fuse,’’ and was unable to get to Cleveland for his Thursday night show because of rain and lightning that kept planes in the city grounded all day. Urban, who sent fans a video recorded from the airport in New York to apologize, will play a full evening at the Cuyahoga Falls amphitheater at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. In the video, which was greeted with groans and catcalls from the crowd, Urban promised “to play way longer than we would’ve tonight – it’s all that we can do to make it up to you." Fans should hold onto their Thursday night tickets. Full refunds will also be available, the details on how to go about that will not be available until 7:30 a.m. Monday, according to a release from concert promoter Live Nation. Suspicions and rumors about whether Urban would make the gig began early. The show was scheduled for a 7 p.m. start, but opening act Dustin Lynch didn’t go on till just after 7:30, and played an extended 10-song set. Normally first-act openers at three-act shows play 20 minutes or less; Lynch’s time on stage more than doubled that. The superstar vocal group Little Big Town, whose CD “Tornado’’ was just nominated for the Country Music Association album of the year as well as song of the year for the title cut, also was asked to play a longer-than-planned set. When Jimi Westbrook, Karen Fairchild Westbrook, Kimberly Schlapman and Phillip Sweet took the stage, they were under the impression that Urban still would make it to the venue. Let it be said that “vamping for time’’ has never been sweeter. Some in the crowd who probably didn’t realize the circumstances may have criticized the band for playing so long. But the reality is that even if he had made it to Blossom Thursday night, Urban would’ve been hard-pressed to match the vocal group’s performance in their 18-song set, which lasted for 75 minutes – a half-hour longer than originally planned. Being able to expand a performance that probably was slated for 10 songs or fewer and doing it as well as Little Big Town and their backing band did is nothing short of amazing. From both a critical and professional standpoint, if ever a band EARNED a headlining spot, it was Little Big Town on Thursday night. Live Nation’s Barry Gabel confirmed that the plan was for Urban, whose band already was at the venue, to take to the stage whenever he arrived and play his full set, despite the 11 p.m. curfew under which Blossom operates. Live Nation would’ve taken care of whatever penalties – fines – would have been imposed, Gabel said. Ironically, the same thing that kept Urban on the ground in New York – rain and lightning – came down in buckets at Blossom just as Live Nation’s senior vice president, Michael Belkin, walked out from the wings to announce to the antsy crowd of 17,000 or so that Urban wasn’t going to make it. I'm really glad Gary Allan gave an honest answer AND in a decent way. I "discovered" country music when it was still a format with grit and great stories. There's not much I like about it anymore. It used to be a format about life stories, now it's about life style.
