YOUR NEW RELEASES: Hollywood's Selena Gomez will have her very first #1 debut on next week's chart. That should entitle her to a cake or something, right? Here are this week's key debuts:
Selena Gomez (Hollywood) 95-105k Marc Anthony (Sony Music Latin) 30-35k Rich Gang (Cash Money/Republic) 18-21k Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros (Vagrant) 16-19k We Came As Romans (Equal Vision) 14-17k The Rolling Stones (Virgin) 12-15k
Meanwhile, the debuts at UMPG's Santa Monica offices include SuperCottonMouth, Stoned as a Newt and Ninja Brain Death. (7/24p)

This really means nothing. Jay Z could still be #1.

if Selena gets in or around only 100k (give or take), Mimi prob. had nothing to trip out over :/. The initial positive response to #B (pre endless remixes, videos etc etc..) her fanbase alone wouldve guaranteed a solid #1 debut.

I want to know the actual sales estimates, not the chart placement! For some reason I've been thinking she'll do 120-130k.

(7/24p)The first Disney girl to open at #1 this decade. As I said in an earlier post, if Mimi wouldve just stuck to the orig. release date, no DOUBT she wouldve gotten #1. At the min. (even after the lukewarm/ bad reaction to the live performances, numerous remixes etc...) she would've still def. debuted w/ at least 110-120k ish just based on her name brand, fans, and (again) the fact that #B was technically a 'hit'. Not a big one, but a solid top 15 hit that got mainly a positive response. Def. an effective enough lead single for someone who's been out 23 years! Wouldve been close but she wouldve had another #1 album- the first in 5+ years and couldve really used the positive buzz. It's just I've read some people say that she was concerned that since #B didn't do 'better' (at least top 10) and that Selenas song was huge #1 song on pop radio that Mimi was concerned she may have been beat and didnt want to take the chance. Not a good call. Again, she REALLY needs new/better management (Tommy, Benny style etc..) lol

Oh I see.. There are several quiet weeks though during the year, she might still do it even with 125k. Mostly it's pretty much about luck.

Selena Gomez Set for First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 ChartSelena Gomez, who just celebrated her 21st birthday on July 22, has another reason to party: She's likely to earn her first No. 1 album next week. Industry sources say her latest release, Stars Dance, should debut atop the Billboard 200 with perhaps 90,000 to 100,000 copies sold in the week ending Sunday, July 28. The set is her fourth studio album, and was released on Tuesday, July 23 via Hollywood Records. The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, July 31. If Stars Dance debuts with more than 78,000, it will mark Gomez's largest sales week yet. Her last album, 2011's "When the Sun Goes Down" (credited to Selena Gomez and the Scene), arrived with a career-high week of 78,000 -- according to Nielsen SoundScan. It debuted at No. 4, rising to No. 3 a week later. Since her 2009 debut, Kiss and Tell, Gomez has been steadily gaining in terms of chart rank and debut sales frames. "Kiss" started at No. 9 with just under 66,000. The following year, A Year Without Rain opened at No. 4 with a little over 66,000.Gomez's new album is powered by her biggest single yet, "Come & Get It." It peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 on Pop Songs. Gomez has been making the promotion rounds during the album's release week as well. She played "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on Tuesday and then hits both "Good Morning America" and "Live With Kelly and Michael" on Friday (26). Other albums heading for sizable bows next week include Marc Anthony's 3.0, Rich Gang's self-titled album, We Came As Romans' Tracing Back Roots and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros' self-titled set.

I overestimated Selena's fanbase size I guess. But still, not bad at all!
Re: Mariah, I doubt she pushed her album back b/c she was worried about some competition...if anything the competition will be tougher once September hits. If that was her concern she would have pushed it back by one week, not to an as-yet unknown date. I'm guessing she was just not ready and/or the label sent her back to the studio to record (what they deem) more single-worthy songs.

Holy s**t Rich Gang at 18K!!! Certified DOA!!! Could have probably sold more as a Birdman release, Cash Money should have stuck with it. Hilarious.

I think "Rich Gang" was originally Birdman's next solo album.

www.billboard.com/articles/news/4788481/marc-anthony-rich-gang-aiming-for-top-10-on-billboard-200-chartMarc Anthony, Rich Gang Aiming for Top 10 on Billboard 200 Chart By Keith Caulfield | July 27, 2013 Anthony could land his first Spanish-language top 10 with "3.0" as Selena Gomez heads for No. 1. As previously reported, Selena Gomez is heading for her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week. Industry sources suggest her new set "Stars Dance" could sell around 90,000 to 100,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, July 28. The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, July 31. Jay Z's current No. 1 album, "Magna Carta. . . Holy Grail," should slip to No. 2 with perhaps 75,000 copies. Right behind him could be the "Teen Beach Movie" soundtrack, which could surge to around 50,000 sold in its second week. It debuted on this past week's chart at No. 8 with 25,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The second-highest debut on next week's top 10 could be Marc Anthony's "3.0," which may launch with around 30,000 sold. The Latin superstar's last album, "Iconos," started with 24,000 at No. 11 in 2010. If "3.0" starts in the top 10, it will be his first Spanish-language top 10 set, and his first 10 overall since 2002's "Mended" debuted and peaked at No. 3. "3.0" may also net his largest sales week since 2004, when "Amar Sin Mentiras" opened with 35,000 at No. 26. One more album has the potential for a top 10 debut next week: the new "Rich Gang" album from Young Money and Cash Money Records. Billed under the name Rich Gang, the compilation set features guests ranging from Rick Ross and Chris Brown to R. Kelly and Future. The album might move around 20,000 copies. On SoundScan's Building chart (below), Gomez is No. 1, followed by Jay Z and the "Teen Beach Movie" soundtrack. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants. As for the rest of the top 10: The "Kidz Bop 24" album is at No. 4, Anthony and Rich Gang are Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, and Florida Georgia Line's "Here's to the Good Times" sits at No. 7. Sara Bareilles' "The Blessed Unrest" follows at No. 8, with Imagine Dragons' "Night Visions" (No. 9) and the Rolling Stones' new live set, "Hyde Park Live" (No. 10) rounding out the top 10. Nielsen SoundScan Building Chart Rank LW BB 200 Artist Title 1 NEW Selena Gomez "Stars Dance" 2 1 Jay Z "Magna Carta. . . Holy Grail" 3 8 Soundtrack "Teen Beach Movie" 4 3 Kidz Bop Kids "Kidz Bop 24" 5 NEW Marc Anthony "3.0" 6 NEW Rich Gang "Rich Gang" 7 5 Florida Georgia Line "Here's to the Good Times" 8 2 Sara Bareilles "The Blessed Unrest" 9 6 Imagine Dragons "Night Visions" 10 NEW The Rolling Stones "Hyde Park Live" The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.

Congrats Selena on the #1 but this makes me feel a whole lot better with Ciara's and Kelly Rowlands debut considering they really didn't have a hit anywhere close to Selena's or the pop exposure. I also doubt Selena, Demi will ever be platinum artist even with the hits they have had on pop.
