I agree with Coco and upsidedown too. I mean, it's true that "Work Bitch" has a reminiscent of "Greyhound" by Swedish House Mafia, but that song was never sent to mainstream radios, as far as I remember, so it's not an Euro dance rehash at all. It was something risky from Britney, actually, in my opinion. Also, as Coco pointed out, if the uptempo songs from Britney Jean would have been like "Work Bitch", the story should be different.

Ok, this song is not as good as toxic but it is damn close, This is probably her second or third best single imo, The song is probably dead now but every time it got any kind of promotion it jumped pretty impressively up the iTunes Charts, the video, snooki's performances, the album release, start of Vegas and now the little boost from the peoples choice, and the song was only played for five seconds. I think this song is going to see brighter days. This song is already a Britney classic even with it flopping on radio.

Homegirl needs to perform this on the Grammys with some pre-recorded live vocals and slay it like in Vegas. Here comes the smasher- again!

Yeah, people can say anything about WB except that it was a rehash. No mainstream pop song had that structure, including the quite melodic multilayered bridge. To me, as many have said, the single didn't work when people heard her saying 'you'd better work work!' 'Now get to work work!' That demanding voice ordering to 'work work'?? Wtf? Sounds stupid. Just one single good performance from Britney and I'm sure she could've turned things around. In a way it could've been like Suite and Tie. Radio was almost ready to give up but the Grammy performance and heavy promotion (through commercials) helped people notice and accept the new sound. People reacted to fucking Snooki dancing to it.
Had WB been successful Brit could've had better luck with Perfume, plus if the video had been less boring and nonsensical. Of course another second single could've worked better I think (alien or passenger if they wanted to go the personal mid tempo route). Anyway I'm glad Brit is having her groove back. I hope there's a way to reignite the era with a third single.

To me, as many have said, the single didn't work when people heard her saying 'you'd better work work!' 'Now get to work work!' That demanding voice ordering to 'work work'?? Wtf? Sounds stupid. Actually, she only says: "Now get to work" However, I agree with you. The double "work" sounds really weird for me as well, so that's the main reason the explicit version really stands out. I think that if she would have only said a "work" in the clean version, it could have been better in my opinion. Just one single good performance from Britney and I'm sure she could've turned things around. THIS! As you pointed out, anytime "Work Bitch", which I still think is a risky song, receives (a little) exposure, people react to it, so it definitely has potential and a performance should have helped a lot. Of course another second single could've worked better I think (alien or passenger if they wanted to go the personal mid tempo route). I also agree with you here. "Perfume" is good, but I prefer The Dreaming Mix in my opinion. However, "Alien" and "Passenger" (even "Don't Cry", but I think it's better as a possible last single from this era, although I don't see that coming honestly) could have been better options as a second single as you said.

The Work Work radio edit is about as bad as a Sexy & I Know It edit where they censor "sexy". Completely ruins the novelty value of song Otherwise it could have been a top 5 hit.

Agreed. "Work Work" is the clunkiest radio edit I have ever heard and totally strips the song of its novelty appeal. I love the song and it has plenty of hooks regardless but "Work Bitch!" is its selling point and where the chutzpah lies.
Anyway, I agree the song will live on in some sort of way, and probably referenced more in coming years than her actual hits post-'08

If they were going to edit it as heavily as they did, they should've at least gone back to '99 when they were throwing out random sound effects like whistles, elephants, etc. and edited those in instead.
Still wouldn't have sounded as good, but it would've maintained the novelty value,

"Suit and Tie" fared better than WB out of the gate, though, so not the best comparison.
I don't know why they needed to have the edit, anyhow- were past songs with the word "b*tch" edited?
For me, it's just not a song I want to seek out and listen to. Out in a club or whatever, fine, but it's just not that great of a tune that commands repeat listening.
And, critically, this has not fared well on year-end multi-critic lists- top 50 Rolling Stone, No. 100 on a Spanish list and a no-order appearance on a Portuguese list. So this was no "Toxic."
