The web is blowing up today with Miley outrage. I don't even think people were this pissed about the infamous Kanye incident.

Robin Thicke is gonna f**k up his image and alienate his main audience (The adult R&B crowd) if he keeps pulling stunts like this. This guy is all about selling sex in his music and videos so why should degrading himself with a young woman on national TV that's half his age be any different. I've always had a poor opinion of this guy. I hope he is making a gazillion dollars on the one hit he'll probably ever have.

That performance with Miley was trashy and I'm sure I wasn't the only person turned off by it. Judging by your post you don't seem to be very familiar with Robin and his music/videos

Well, remember Adam Lambert got banned for things half as scandalous as "air-humping" and "ass baring"? and Janet's nipple? I don't get why bare ass is allowed but nipple is a no-no.

If I recall correctly, Adam's AMA performance controversy had to do more with him french kissing his male bandmate and groping that female dancer in network primetime TV.

ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX are totally different from CABLE TV. You can get away with more on cable but not on the Big 4.

I hate when people say "I feel bad for his wife" in reference to Robin. She openly condones and encourages it from Robin. Being together for 22 years does that to you.

Yeah, I'm 99% sure that Paula is an enabler of sorts. Didn't Robin say the BL video was either her idea or that she openly supported it and told him to go for it? Paula wants that status, she gives no fucks. Regardless I don't think that is going to hurt his cache with the UAC crowd. Putting out an album where less than half the songs cater to them just might, but that is a completely separate issue.
And he's really just a footnote in the whole thing anyway. It is ALL about Miley. Robin might as well have been one of the backup dancers in a bear costume, he was that irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
Katy should have been the opener and Gaga the closer, and that is not shade to Katy but for the type of performers they are, I just think "Roar" would have been much stronger as the show opener. And I would have enjoyed Gaga's performance more if it had been the ending one (it took a re-watch for me to really appreciate it). She, like anyone else not named Miley, was doomed not to be talked about, and it wasn't the greatest she's ever done, but it would have been an apt closer.
I was mad at first that *NSYNC only got one minute, but between Lance struggling to keep up with those slides and Joey struggling to just keep his breath, their very short time on stage may have simply been a practical matter.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY GRADES THE VMA PERFORMANCES LADY GAGA Quote Lady Gaga Lady Gaga promised a ''giant metaphor'' for her opening act, but delivered a fairly subtle song-and-dance instead. After a bizarro, bug-eyed, extreme-close-up opening with her face poking through what appeared to be a white wall, she stepped back and revealed a sort of nun's habit with pearls — which, naturally, was quickly stripped off by her dancers ... but not before a chorus of ''boos'' played. This confusion quickly gave way to a sleek and fast-moving, if underwhelming perfomance. In her all-black leotard, she was able to blow through a series of surface-y costume changes, aided by her Sprockets-like dancers. Did Gaga reclaim the downward-spiraling Artpop promotional cycle? No. But she didn't let her concept drown out the music, either. Grade: B- MILEY CYRUS AND ROBIN THICKE Quote Needs more tongue. And teddybears. Just kidding! Cyrus brought the only three T's that matter in Mileyworld (third one is ''twerking,'' doy) to her ''We Can't Stop'' performance. Like Gaga, she basically re-created her video live on stage — minus the wig changes, plus a vinyl bikini that definitely made Billy Ray cry, whipped out for Thicke's entrance. Robin looking like R&B Beetlejuice in a jailhouse-striped suit, perfunctorally sang a few lines of ''Blurred Lines'' but mostly played Miley's happy hump recipient. His brand-new single ''Give It 2 U'' got a bigger, spanglier run, with guest Kendrick Lamar. And that's when Miley finally stopped twerking. Juuuuust... kidding. Grade: B+ KANYE WEST Quote In keeping with his no-publicity publicity plan, Kanye performed most of his Yeezus stunner ''Blood on the Leaves'' shrouded completely in darkness, letting the song's emotional primacy take center stage. With an Instagram-y image of a tree projected behind him — an allusion to the iconic Nina Simone-via-Billie Holiday lynching ballad ''Stange Fruit,'' the song ''Blood'' samples — Yeezy's imposing black silhouette stood tall over the Barclays Center. Smart move all around: it was a simple pleasure. Grade: B+ JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE Quote Well, Will Smith loved it. And why not? JT's mega-medley included 12 straight-up great songs if you count the pre-taped intro (''Take Back the Night'') and the — YES! — 'N Sync micro-reunion (''Girlfriend,'' ''Bye Bye Bye''). Cruising through the arena trailed by dancers, stepping to the piano, and playing the air guitar, he kept things going for a full 15 minutes. If it weren't marred by terribly fuzzy audio throughout, it would've been the smoothest, most confident performance of the night up till then, from ''SexyBack'' to ''Mirrors.'' But it also might've ebbed into blandness if Timberlake's 'N Sync teammates didn't rise up out of the floor ... and disappear about a minute later. For once we might've asked an artist to indulge in a little more nostalgia. Grade: A- MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS Quote After an odd-couple intro from recently out former NBA star Jason Collins and an I-didn't-know-I-was-in-the-frame A$AP Rocky, the rap duo of the hour delivered a fairly faithful and straightforward take on their equality anthem ''Same Love.'' But hark, who is that stealing guest hook singer Mary Lambert's fire? Jennifer Hudson! In a crop top! First bona fide guest-star surprise of the night. Their diva face off was sweet, and kind of awkward, and then everybody got a high five. For equality! Grade: B DRAKE Quote Wearing all-black-everything, Drake posed in profile (a la the cover of his new album Nothing Was the Same — marketing!) while slow-jamming the audience with his R&B lovefest ''Hold On, We're Going Home.'' But that was just foreplay for the real event: Drizzy hopped onto the catwalk and slammed out an emphatic performance of ''Started From the Bottom,'' pyrotechnics included. It wasn't really fancy but it was a lot of fun, and not just for the totally ecstatic-looking fans he chilled with down in the pit. Grade: A- BRUNO MARS Quote The most elegantly designed and executed performance of the evening belonged to Bruno Mars, who performed ''Gorilla'' standing behind a mic stand high up on a simple platform, with a giant gorilla face behind him, lasers shooting through the room, and his crack band booting the whole thing along. But although there was a unified feel, with Mars staying put and the color scheme a consistent glowing green, there was plenty of drama — three parts human, with Mars belting with tremendous feeling and kicking over his mic stand, and one part fire, with the night's biggest pyrotechnics shooting off at the climax. Grade: A- KATY PERRY Quote She has the eye — and the sports bra — of the tiger! Perry closed the show beneath the Brooklyn Bridge in the night's only remote performance with a full on Rocky-Balboa-with-boobs tribute, building a boxing ring in the shadow of one of New York's most classic landmarks. She shadowboxed, she jumped rope, she ''Roar''-ed. It was sincerely fun and a little bit camp and very very Katy. Exactly the kind of silly, no-subtext fun the VMAs are made for. Grade: A www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,2030....html#30009283 Best Rated: Katy Perry, Worst Rated: Lady GaGa Thoughts?

Yeah that EW review was stupid. Seems they inverted the grading system. To me, Same Love was the winner of the night. Great, felt performance. It was all about the song :) I also liked Gaga. Not a grandiose performance but an effective one. I liked her opening singing quite theatrically, and then the whole transformation into different characters. The dancing and singing was good enough. Justin was quite good too, but too long. His dance moves were great in parts and in others he was just walking. Understandable given the length of his performance but after 10 minutes I felt it was dragging and I wanted it to end it was good to see N Synx tho, and specially JC!!! I always wanted him to shine as solo as I thought he was the most talented member, so it's great to see him again (although that extra 'baby' was out of place). Bruno was good too. He gave his all singing. The laser effects were cool but the song is too boring for me so I was yawning by the 2/3 of the song Drake and Kanye were meh to me. Just not my cup of tea I guess. One's voice was either autotuned at maximum or just in a screaming+cursing mode that I don't care; the other's voice was shaky off-key -although I liked the song. Miley was embarrassing to me. I cringed. It was good at the beginning but then it was like she was high and wanted to brag on her whorish stripper persona. As someone said it looked vulgar to me and not sexy. And then she wouldn't stop with robin. At that point it was just uncomfortable to see her humping, touching herself, sticking the tongue, etc. as I said, I was fine with the first 2 minutes. She actually sounded fine but then it was just too much and felt forced to grab attention just for the sake of it-which she did of course. I'm disconcerted about Robin. He has the song of the decade, but he was second to Miley in this mess. Even his voice was not that good. Disappointing actually. Katy Perry... It was too hyped!! All week, all night. I was expecting a lot of it and then I was wondering: is this it? Why the trouble of performing outside? Just to have a ring? She barely sang or danced. Good job with the rope -but really that was all?? Forgettable...

I was just reading an article where they were saying even he was ashamed of Miley's act at the MTV awards and that if he had to do it all over again he wouldn't do it with Miley according to the HuffPo.

Only because of the backlash he feels that way. Otherwise common sense should have taken over way beforehand with him saying no way to doing any of this ratchet stuff with Miley.

Robin, now you really suck, just like JT.
