But honestly, Epic hurt no one else but themselves. Who else suppossed to support this album but MJ die-hard fans? Now some of them already stopped supporting this project, and others focus on this laughable duet overlooking the solo version that imo is really good, sounds like a track taken straigh from the OTW album. I was totally on board to support this album, but after this JT duet was announced, my feelings changed. Michael would never work with him after what he did to Janet, PERIOD.

#5 on iTunes
It sounds great I think.
BTW - it sounds like something that could have come from Off The Wall because it was written in that same time period, around 1983 with Paul Anka who also wrote This Is It, around that time.

Thriller was 1982; OTW was 1979. This was post-Thriller, but, ITA, it sounds like OTW. I prefer the solo to the Timbaland remix, which tries to incorporate a DSTYGE instrumentation. I'm not terribly excited about the project, BUT it's great that these track are at least being released in quality versions.

Yes I know, but still...8 songs is just wrong! Even Sade on her 80's albums and Thriller had 9 ! Maybe he will go back in the studio and record a few more tracks? Come on...they are compiling a collection of outtakes that they think the public will like and will be commercially viable, cut them a break ;)

I meant, the song sounds dated because it is.

I am looking forward to Xcape. Anything by Michael is better than a lot of the stuff we get. I miss his music. I mean getting new stuff so this will be a good fix.

The new single is a nice throwback to MJ's golden days. Even though the track is a "compilation" of sorts, it's definitely stronger than "This is It."

This project is shaping up to be much better than his first posthumous album. The production on "Chicago" actually sounds like what I'd expect a late 90s MJ/Timbaland collabo to sound like.

The production doesn't sound like something MJ would aprove at all. It would suit more a mixtape. It just sounds very cheap, imo. But since we're getting the demo version I couldn't care less about it.
The song is a classic MJ song. It reminds me of Dirty Diana in a way. What's interesting it's been recorded for the Invincible album. I just don't get it... it's another song that is superior to 90% of the tracks which made this album.... What was he thinking?!
Lyrics:
I met her on my way to Chicago Where she was all alone And so was I So I asked her for her name
She smiled and looked at me I was surprised to see That a woman like that Was really into me
She said she didn't have no man Raised her kids the very best she can (She was loving me) She told me she was all alone Said she thought she didn't have no home (She was wanting me) She said that just to get in my place Spent the night ?????? (She was loving me) She lied to you, lied to me Thought she was loving me, loving me Yeah
I never would've thought she was living like that Her words seemed so sincere When I held her near She would tell me how she feels If felt so real to me This girl, she had to be An angel sent from heaven just for me
She said she didn't have no man Raised her kids the very best she can (She was loving me) She told me she was all alone Said she thought she didn't have no home (She was loving me) She said that just to get in my place Spent the night ?????? (She was loving me) She lied to you, lied to me Thought she was loving me, loving me Yeah
She tried to live a double life Loving me while she was still your wife (She was wanting me) She thought that loving me was cool With you at work and the kids at school (She was loving me) She said that it will never end Tried to get me anyway she could (She was wanting me) She lied to you, lied to me Because she had a family, family Yeah
Why.. Ooh no Alright Ohh (I'm in love, love)
I didn't know she was already spoken for 'Cause I'm not that kind of man Swear that I would've never looked her way Now I feel so much shame And all things have to change You should know that I'm holding her to blame
She said she didn't have no man Raised her kids the very best she can (Holding her to blame) She told me she was all alone Said she thought she didn't have no home (Holding her to blame) She said that just to get in my place Spent the night ?????? (Holding her to blame) She lied to you, lied to me Thought she was loving me, loving me Yeah
She tried to live a double life Loving me while she was still your wife (Holding her to blame) She thought that loving me was cool With you at work and the kids at school (Holding her to blame) She said that it will never end Tried to get me anyway she could (Holding her to blame) She lied to you, lied to me Because she had a family, family Yeah

So tempted to listen, but I'm holding out for Tuesday.
Even though I've heard many of the songs in demo form, I'm treating this release like an old fashioned album release.
Going to buy the CD next Tuesday, put it in my CD player and listen. It's been a long time since I have done that with any artist, so I figured what the hell, I'll do it for MJ! Can't wait until next week!

I had a similar attitude not so long ago, but everything changed when the lead single dropped. This cheap tactic they use is just too much for me and there's no way I'll buy the entire album. I'll pay them only for the demos and that's IT .

Prediction time.
I'm hoping this can get.a week at No. 1. I guess it all depends on promotion, and with the first single being dropped just recently, I'm a little worried that not enough people even know this is coming out. The die hards will buy it, no doubt, though.
That said, I predict a No. 1 debut with about 125,000 copies, though admittedly the ubber stan in me is probably over estimating.
I always want to see MJ kick ass, but forget that the interest for this may not be there.

Reid is definitely pulling out all the marketing stops for Xscape - smart move. This era is certainly far more organized and enticing the "Michael" project. As I've said, as long as we can get quality versions of what's in the vault, I'm good with it. I believe releasing these (both in original and remix form) allows for a far better representation of his artistry. That was really the bad thing about "Thriller" - it used to be artists would release albums annually (and in the 60s/70s more than that), but the seven hits changed the way labels marketed projects. So instead of an Aretha Franklin who has volumes and volumes of material, you ended up with Whitney Houston, who was criminally underrepresented in recorded material - barely over 100 songs, including soundtracks, etc..

I'm impressed with this album. It's FAR better than the "Michael" album. I particularly thought Stargate did an excellent job with the updated version of "A Place with No Name." Sonically, it's like "Leave Me Alone" 2014. It was a smart move to include the original versions of the songs with the deluxe edition, for the people that had no interest in hearing the updated ones.
