This is so much better than Michael. I like most of the songs a lot, and they did a great job updating the material while keeping it true to his sound. I'm glad they included the original demos too. I wish we had them for the Michael album, because I didn't like a lot of the production on that album.

This album surprised me. After Michael I wasn't too sure what to expect. I enjoy every song on the album except Chicago - for some reason it just isn't gelling as much as I'd like. They did an excellent job with these and I hope the other 16 talked about in the notes are just as good if they decide to release them.

I'm enjoying the album, as well. "Blue Gangsta" is the only track I don't care for. I must say my favorite track is "A Place With No Name"...I have it stuck on repeat and I can't get it out of my head. And I tear up because I imagine how MJ would've been cutting up in a video for this. I'd imagine it would have been epic. I hope they decide to promote it as a single. I'm also a big America fan, so I love the sample.

I love all eight tracks. My least favorite is "Chicago" but I like that one as well.
MOST favorite:
Love Never Felt So Good Loving You A Place With No Name Blue Gangsta Xscape
I like: Slave to the Rhythm Do You Know Where Your Children Are
Could do with/without: Chicago
That's after a first listen though. But all eight tracks are really good and I could only imagine if he really finished them and fleshed them out how PERFECT they would be. I especially love the melody to "Love Never Felt So Good" and "Loving You". "A Place With No Name" and "Blue Gangsta" are really fun and great, as is "Xscape" I could see him really slaying some videos for these 3 tracks. WAY better than the 2010 effort. Thank the lord for MJ's music!

From MJ Online:
Hello:
The Estate has become aware of chatter regarding a potential release of a Michael Jackson/Justin Bieber duet of "Slave To The Rhythm". The MJ fan community should rest assured that while there have been lots of ideas thrown out, the Estate has confirmed that there are absolutely no plans to release any Jackson/Bieber duet.
Thank you,
MJOnline

Now that I have let this album digests, I have to say, "I LOVEEEE IT". The producers did great capturing his sound (sans too much of a pitch change on "Blue Gangsta"). I never checked for "Michael" because everything about that album felt off. However, this one is stellar. I wish "Chicago" original production was kept the same because I love that one much more than "produced one". "Love Never Felt So Good" is simply great in both forms. I also love "Loving You" and "Slave to the Rhythm" and their demo versions are also great too. I have to hand it to L.A. Reid for crafting this piece of work and I think Michael would be pleased with the outcome. It feels like a "Michael" record. Each track stands on its own and nothing is bad. This man was gifted, how he could write a song is like no other in the industry. I love how he did his spin on topics and wanted his fans to think.

He'll be performing "Slave To The Rhythm" as a hologram at the Billboard Music Awards tonight.

Ugh. What is the point of that? It just sounds ridiculous to me. Let the man rest in peace.

He'll be performing "Slave To The Rhythm" as a hologram at the Billboard Music Awards tonight. I find this incredibly tacky! L.A. Reid and all involved should be ashamed of this. If there is one area where I feel this project over steps bounds is in creating videos and trying to recreate a performance using his likeness.

Even the best hologram won't change the fact that he's no longer here. It actually makes even more challenging for the fans to cope with this. Just imagine what may happen next. The hologram tour...? Disgusting. But even Mike himself was singing that people would do ANYTHING for money, and he was darn right about it.

I did not like it. First off, the face really didn't even look like Michael (they apparently were going for 1991 era). Second, it is just tasteless, as it's just a blatant move to sell his posthumous album.

I loved the hologram performance. However, I noticed the media is using this as yet another chance to bully MJ. :o I figured they would just take it for what it is like they did with Tupac and others in years past. Instead MJ is not allowed to have an estate which is tasked with furthering the wishes of MJ after he died or to actually make money from his music to pay down his debts and pay for his kids well being or receive snark free praise from the media. Additionally, I always wonder about the people who think they know more about the celebs than the families, the people who the celebs actually know on a first name basis and the estates they set up to carry on their legacy in the event of their death. People think they know what Michael wanted but Michael set up his estate to carry out the rest of his legacy upon his death. People wanna talk about distasteful....How about disrespecting the wishes of the deceased in relation to their own work or having the nerve to question the motives of the people who Michael tasked with carrying out his wishes? The truth of the matter is the MJ hologram was the best performance of the night.

I really enjoyed the performance. For a second there, I was wondering if he had actually performed the whole song live once before, and that's where they got the footage, but I didn't realize they just recreated him for the hologram.

Disgusting. But even Mike himself was singing that people would do ANYTHING for money, and he was darn right about it. Absolutely, and it's been even more apparent since his death. I mean, I know that when a celebrity dies this always happens to an extent, but they have been more "generous" in these practices with Michael. I saw the "Immortal" show, and although I liked it, it was very strange. Like a Michael Jackson concert without Michael. However, I admit I do like the "Xscape" album.

The truth of the matter is the MJ hologram was the best performance of the night. I agree to an extent. I love Michael but he was often tacky, self-obsessed, and had a major Messiah complex. Something tells me he wouldn't be content with "resting in peace". I'm sure he'd be thrilled that he's headed for a potential #1 album 5 years after his death and has his biggest radio hit in over a decade (with a song he wrote over 30 years ago at that-- talk about a timeless songwriter). How many acts experience that level of posthumous success that long after death? At the same time, he was obsessive and perfectionistic about every element of his career (especially his music and choreography). Some of the songs that have been released posthumously are songs that were never released because he was never satisfied with them. Would he be fine with that knowing those songs are helping to keep him an extremely relevant and contemporary pop icon after death, since he's unable to record new songs or tweak those songs? We'll never know.

The deluxe version of Xscape is wonderful with the original songs. Hope it goes to #1 on the Billboard Top 200. If not in week 1, maybe in week 2.

Finally watched the Billboard "performance." While I think that it's a good promotional tool to help sell Xscape, I don't ever need to see it again. It just didn't do anything for me.
