Something about thiswoman's voice drives me crazy. This song is worse to me than Baby Girl. Sorry guys!!! Just can't get into these guys. I completely agree with you here. Her voice is terrible. On "Baby Girl," her voice only got really bad at the end of the song when she dragged out the word "Girl" in an annoying way over and over again. In "Something More," her voice is bad for the entire song. One thing is certain though, her voice definitely stands out...but not in a good way.

I really dislike Sugardland also. I cannot stand the lead singer's voice. Not that it matters what I think cause radio is eating it up.
Just another song that makes me turn the station.

I find Sugarland's vocals painful and the arrangements generic, the lyrics bland and uninteresting. But nothing I think is going to stop the publicity machine, which seems to have latched on to these folks as marketable. I can only hope that they are one-album wonders, or that they grow musically.

You guys are damn pathetic. Jennifer has one of the best and original voices out there. Still not sure where people get that her voice resembles Sara Evans, but hey, that's just me. Sugarland is great and I don't think they are gonna be slowing down anytime soon so those of you that don't like the best act to come out of Nashville in years, GET READY!

I am really surprised there are so many here who don't like their sound. I think it's very energetic and their songs are unique. And the video to 'Something More' is sure to make Jennifer one of country's new sex symbols. I'm glad we have a new group around.

Hey Z, we disagree again. I'm feeling better and better about my taste in music. Jennifer has that heavy Georgia southern drawl that seems to put off some people here. I find their sound fresh and upbeat. The only problem with their music here in Atlanta is I have been listening to it live and on the radio for more than a year now, so some of the songs have worn a little thin. However, I'd still have to say their album is one of my all time favorites. ~ Jim

I just can not tolerate the way she pronounces, or fails to pronounce, words in songs. She has a nice southern drawl, but, imo, she has a terrible voice. Just watch the part of the "Something More" video where she's about to hop onto that motorcycle. Her voice gets really bad right about there. I cringe every time the "Something More" video comes on, especially around the time of that motorcycle scene.

Best song released to country radio so far in 2005, is this song and the fact that there playing it is shocking to me because they don't often play songs that are released that I also like. At-least not recently.
I'll take them over Muzik Mafia, Kenny, Tim and Shania anytime. LOL

Believe me, I'm ready for Sugarland. Nashville has produced plenty of other conventional, generic artists over the last couple of decades; part of listening to commercial country is surviving the clones and finding the few with good vocals and lyrics. I can outlast Sugarland.
For those of you who enjoy their music, have fun! They're going to do well in sales and on the radio. I have no desire to spoil your pleasure; just expressing a different opinion.

I'm also surprised at the dislike of this band. Their first two singles on the album are great, with "Baby Girl" being one of the best of the year. I also enjoy the rest of the album. They deserve their success.

Anyone know if the vid to this song is on the web anywhere? I have looked at their site, launch, and cmt's site and I can't find it.

That's fine.
We need to focus on Sugarland anyway and opinions of their single -- good AND bad.

I thought I was the only one that really dislikes these guys. BAYYYYBY GIIIIIIIRL really grates on me and as I have stated this new song is worse. I got an advanced copy of the album and didn't make it through the first four songs. Go ahead and trash me, I know there are many people out there that like these guys. That's what the radio (or XM in my case) buttons are for and I will use them everytime Sugarland comes on. I know also that Sugarland could care less if one guy on a message board dislikes them so that comment from someone will do no good. Just opinions here.

I was just saying that I knew someone (STEELO) would make a comment about that. I know my comment means about as much as....... YOURS! It means nothing and that's all I was implying.

It just soared from #19 to #11, which is the biggest jump for a song within the top 20 since 'Redneck Woman' soared from 19-9 about a year ago, if memory serves.

This song right out of the starting gate had huge support from the 800-pound gorilla stations in Chicago, LA and other key, large-audience markets, who went out of their way to jump start it, in a very obvious way. (see my post back in April in this thread). It worked, because a bandwagon effect really took hold.

I am really surprised there are so many here who don't like their sound. I am not surprised. The singer's voice has a quality in it that can make a person either like it, or turn the radio off. In some songs she sounds like Terri Clark, in others Sara Evans. A lot of artists around, they have a quality in their voices that makes them distinguish themselves from others, their voices are recognized instantly. Some like, some don't. Like Gretchen Wilson sounds like Natalie Maines. Unfortunately I don't like Natalie's voice, so you can imagine how I feel about Gretchen's voice.

To me, Gretchen and Natalie sound nothing alike and same for Jennifer Nettles and Sara Evans. Not EVEN a resemblence.
