• "Blurred Lines" is the longest running #1 in eight years, since Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" was #1 for 12 weeks in 2005.
• "Stay" hangs on for another week, giving Rihanna a 209 week streak--four full years--of chart hits.
• "Royals" is the biggest upward mover for the second straight week.
• Ryan played a bit of Britney Spears' new "Work Bitch", which was, and presumably will be, referred to on-air as "Work Work".
• Last week Pink effectively swapped positions with herself, with hits at 31 and 32 reversing positions; this week Justin Timberlake does the same, with #13 and 15.
• No Two for One, but 10 extras, two more than last week.

Eek - 3 time-filler extras. Between that and the fact that "Berzerk" didn't debut (despite clearly jumping into the Top 40 on the matching recurrentless chart), I'm thinking they put this one together maybe a couple of days ahead of schedule.

There's also "Roar" still down at #8. Given what happened with "Blurred Lines", an 8-1 jump is not out of the question. But, I wonder if they might have "Blurred Lines" hold on for one more week...

Nice to see "Same Love" does make it to #5. That still has an outside chance of backing up to that position on Sunday's Mediabase chart, actually...

Two things I'm annoyed with: First off, how in the world is Phillip Phillips moving down when it's still gaining airplay? I assume that Enrique is trying to screw him over, yet he's still at the #22 spot and losing airplay. Second of all, one of Katy's #1 hits is played as an extra when it could've been played as a Two For One in the last hour. >:(

Or, since "Clarity" came so close to topping the Mediabase chart (it missed by around 70 spins), maybe it has an outside chance of sneaking in a week on top before Katy takes over? Stranger things have happened...

Much as I would like to see that happen :'( ...if I remember correctly, only what, two songs have ever topped AT40 without even spending one day at #1 on Mediabase? And both in 2010 - I don't remember if "Airplanes" ever got there, but I know that "OMG" did not. And yet they were back-to-back #1s here.

My point being: I won't hold my breath on this one.

I assume the show's still based on the combined panel of their affiliates rather than the whole Mediabase panel, correct? But indeed, even with that difference the 3-notch drop for GGG is strange.

In fact it has a good chance to end top 5 this week, like it was two weeks ago. Clarity is dropping a lot faster than Same love, and Holy Grail and Royals probably need at least two days to catch Same love if tomorrows update is not terribly bad

Congrats to RiRi for the full 4 years! Quite an achievement. No jackpot this week but we did get 16 17 (18)
and 09 10 (11). Ryan said that the two big things in pop culture this weekend were the I Heart Radio Music Festival and the
Emmy Awards.
We only got one new song this week, especially surprising considering the number of extras. Ryan had a lengthy interview with Fifth Harmony. He referred to electrical sockets as plugs, which seemed strange to me.
The basic Subway lunch is "still only" $4, so get it while you still can. Apparently my new least favorite song is titled Berzerk
and not Berserk. Does anyone else hear a similarity to part of it and the chorus of Sean Paul's Get Busy?
TV Guide magazine printed a Facebook jeer about Ryan for his quiz show and how much money he got paid to do it.

I'm not sure about "Airplanes" either but "OMG" never hit #1 on Mediabase as far as I know. Are there pop archives that go back to 2010?

Airplanes didn't reach number one on mediabase (or on Rythmic, or on billboard), it was 2 in a lot of charts

I already know that it didn't get there officially. I'm asking about unofficially (as in, mid-week).

Guess I should probably just go see if I can find out myself...

EDIT: From what I can uncover, the answer is no. It came much closer than "OMG" did, but never spent a single update at the top.
