Which one of these two near year end songs will rank higher on year end?

Unless "Roar" goes into free-fall as it descends from the upper ranks, that one will.

Since roar probably only has no more than 3 weeks at number one left then royals will be number one which leaves 6 plus weeks before the chart year is over so it will be REALLY close. which ever one will be higher it won't be no more than 5 spots

Oh and it might be worth clarifying which year-end chart you mean. On Billboard I think "Roar" has the advantage, but that's where the free-fall could play havoc. On Mediabase, though, I don't think "Royals" has any hope of catching "Roar" under any circumstances.

Roar has accumulated a lot of points already, even the weeks where it wasn't #1 on the Hot 100 were very very strong. Katy has been in the top 2 for as long as Royals has been top 20. Even when Royals passes Roar, it most likely won't have enough time to overtake it in points unless Roar freefalls. The initial gap in points won't be that big when Royals hits #1.

Hot 100:
Roar - #10 Royals - #15
Mediabase:
Roar - #27 Royals - #37
Roar wins here.
