Totally saw Cody's debut coming, after its three weeks of extra status. Expect him to disappear next week. Ryan just said that Fifth Harmony were very close to debuting. He's not blowing smoke on this one; I think they would've been #40 had that not been Cody.

And so we have the first Rihanna-less chart since September 19,2009. Maybe "What Now" will keep this hiatus brief.

Yeah, "Stay" is most certainly gone. I think it's safe to say now that Enrique's "Turn the Night Up" is the other dropper.

Ryan kind of bobbled the description of what "Royals" is about. Lorde's response: "Eloquent!"

Glad to see Panic! At The Disco being played. I don't think they've been included as an optional in over 2 years.

How the hell is Britney still a breakout? How has she not debuted yet The comparable Mediabase chart has her full-impacting straight into the Top 30...but it's looking like these shows are done mid-week. As "Work Bitch" amassed that first-week total very quickly, I can only surmise that she hadn't gained enough in time to debut when this show was put together. (All things considered, I'm surprised that Miley also missed. That one's a bit more questionable.) Course, this will only mean she'll debut next week higher than she would have this week.

A bit surprised at all the Optionals except Demi being pre-2010 this week. Not complaining, though. (Well...except for Panic!, I never did like that song. )

"Extras" dont have to be played, right? But the "Breakout" does indeed get played?

Britney might sneak in to the top 10 on iTunes because of the breakout :o

"Extras" dont have to be played, right? But the "Breakout" does indeed get played? Optional extras, one at the end of each hour, are just that and don't have to be played. (Premiere also includes them in their rebroadcasts of Casey Kasem's 1970s and 80s countdowns.) All other extras, whatever they're labelled, are played by all stations. "Double Play" was a term used early in the Seacrest era for what is now "Two For One", much as "Breakouts" were once "Out of the Box". Of this week's extras, I'm a Panic! fan but like a lot of other songs by them better; IWSNT, however, is the only one to be a big enough CHR hit to be replayed here. (They are putting out new music now, which Ryan may have noted.) The 2 for 1 gives listeners a triple play of Macklemore/Ryan Lewis; a few months ago all three songs were on the chart simultaneously. Is the will.i.am song supposed to be "#thatPOWER"? (It is if it has Justin Bieber on it.) "Sail" is moving like a sailboat on a windless day; 10 weeks and no higher than #32. However, it just reached the top 20 on MB so it should get a nice gust forward soon. Meanwhile, "Gone, Gone, Gone" reaches a new peak after that weird downward dip two weeks ago.

After four straight years, Rihanna is taking a little vacation. With "Stay" leaving, "I Love It" takes over as the chart''s oldest song (someone's got to). Since "Pretty Brown Eyes" is quite dead on Mediabase, I'm expecting it'll be a "one week wonder", here. A Two For One for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis really wasn't necessary. They already have two songs on the chart. Couldn't they have picked someone else? The chart seems to have fallen a bit further behind as evidenced by the lack of Britney and "Wrecking Ball" (and the, rather low, position for "Gorilla"). If the chart gets its act back together, "Miss Movin' On", "Work Work", and "Wrecking Ball" should all debut next week, with the latter two bowing fairly high. "Extras" dont have to be played, right? But the "Breakout" does indeed get played? Yes, the Optional Extras are freestanding segments. Some stations play them. Some don't. Some play their own songs to fill the minutes. Some stations will sell extra ad time at the bottom of the hour in leau of the extras. It's completely up to the individual affiliate.

So things fall behind this week on AT40. I'd rather see "Pretty Brown Eyes" as an extra again, so that is definitely gonna exit next week, so might as well put it on the one-week wonder list. We may also see "Just Give Me A Reason" and "Take Back The Night" depart. "I Love It" is now the longest chart runner, following that is "Can't Hold Us", which might stay for quite a while. I'm baffled to see that "Clarity" (even though I like the song) moves back up a spot when it should still be at #4, and Lana Del Rey should be at #3. Is there a chance that "Wrecking Ball" will debut inside the Top 20?

Yeah, as mkarns said, it's (still) Two For One now - so it should probably read as such.

Is there a chance that "Wrecking Ball" will debut inside the Top 20? I'm thinking she almost certainly will. On the following week's Mediabase, it's #14, so even factoring in the panel and daily differences, I'm thinking she should come in somewhere between there and 20. Hell, they could even put her at #13 to match Taylor Swift's mark from the first week of the year.

DROPPERS: Rihanna featuring Mikky Ekko - Stay (from #40, 31 weeks on, peak #1) Enrique Iglesias - Turn The Night Up (from #25, 7 weeks on, peak #25)

When you listen on iheartradio.com, what days are the new chart played? For example, when will the week of 10-12 to 10-13 play on iheartradio.com?

I like how Ryan said that "Clarity" was rebounding a notch. Reminded me of something Casey would say.
I also liked the #1 intro about the revolving door of #1 artists this year and how Katy has the most #1s so far this decade with 8 of them.

Last week, Ryan said that if Gorilla goes top 10 he will tie Richard Marx for 12 for 12 out of the gate top 10's. But not according to Billboard. What is the site again where I can check R&R charts, please?
It looks like there has only been one other Miss song in the top 40 (as a female name) before. Miss Sun by Boz Scaggs, though we did have a Ms. Jackson, Mrs. Brown, and Mrs. Robinson. Some of the jingles/pre-recorded announcements on this show are also starting to sound old. Rihanna's 4 year feat is really amazing. Typically a President's term in the U.S. is 4 years, it's 4 years between summer Olympics, and 4 years in high school or college. Ryan interviewed a not very talkative Lorde. It was like pulling teeth. She said she tires easily and will do a mini-tour. She sounded much older than 16. And he said that 10 versions of Safe and Sound were recorded before they were satisfied.
Is Sweater Weather a cure for Summertime Sadness?

Here's the Radio & Records/Mediabase chart archives (which don't always match the Seacrest AT40 positions/weeks.) He was right about Richard Marx according to these; for Bruno to get to that mark you have to count four featured credits on others' hits. wweb.uta.edu/faculty/gghunt/charts/chart.html
