Can't help but have a smile creep across my face when I see these numbers today on mediabase. :)
lw Tw Tw lw move aud 32 28 1855 1532 +323 13.367
If this won't be a big hit, then at least let me enjoy this while it last.

It's about time this song does something, it's been treading water and taking up too much space on the countdown, like a lot of songs #60-20. I enjoy George's music, but this new album is overrated. All three singles are boring. Same with "Here for a Good Time", that album is also overrated. "Drinkin' Man" was the only single I liked. I wished he recorded more songs like "I Saw God Today", "The Breath You Take", "Give It Away" and "You'll Be There". George Strait could also use a few more Love Without End, Amens, One Night At A Times, Carrying Your Love With Mes, and Check Yes Or Nos.

George Strait finishes at #29 on the MediaBase chart. That means you WILL hear him this weekend on ALL the countdown shows! Wrong! Lon Helton's countdown is 2 weeks behind the chart, so this means that IGAC won't debut on Lon's show until the weekend of May 10/11, where it will be the #29 song :) For the stations that carry only the top 30 of Kix's show, George will debut there at #29 this coming weekend.

I actually think it's his best album since The Road Less Traveled which is probably about 13 years old.

^For what it's worth, I ranked George Strait's biggest hits back in 2010. This is what I said back then:
Last week, Billboard published a list of Michael Jackson's top 50 hits (as a solo artist and his hits with the Jackson Five). That got me wondering and I decided to rank the top 53 hits of George Strait's career (44 #1s and 9 #2s). Two things: One, the list is top heavy of his multiple week #1s he had between 1990-2013. Two, I received help in getting chart data from select Strait titles from Jon Solo (thanks a lot!). You know how I rank titles. First number will be weeks at #1 or #2, followed by weeks in the top 40. ALL comments will be appreciated! Ready
1. Love Without End, Amen-1990-5-20 2. One Night At A Time-1997-5-20 3. I've Come To Expect It From You-1990-5-19 4. Write This Down-1999-4-32 5. Check Yes Or No-1995-4-18 6. Carrying Your Love WIth Me-1997-4-16 7. The Best Day-2000-3-27 8. I Just Want To Dance With You-1998-3-21 9. You Know Me Better Than That-1991-3-19 10. Carried Away-1996-3-14 11. They both spent the same weeks at #1 and spent the same number of weeks in the top 40. Thanks for the complete list. :)

I am looking at my Top 40 Hits book by Joel Whitburn. He has Love Without End, Amen at #9 for the 1990s. One Night At A Time is at #10. The former spent one more week in the top ten (11 weeks) than the latter (10 weeks). He goes by weeks at #1 then weeks in the top ten. I like a fuller chart run myself. Hope that was helpful!
I first ranked George Strait's top ten hits in February, 2010. This is what I said back then:
7. THEIR TEN BIGGEST: Let's review. Al Dexter had the most #1 hits between 1944-1948. Then Eddy Arnold had the most between 1948-1980. Conway Twitty took over between 1980-2006. Now, we have come to the current artist with the most #1s over the past three and a half years, George Strait. These are his ten biggest. First number is weeks at #1, followed by the second number-weeks in the top 40. Carried Away-1996-3-14

Personally I always considered One Night at a Time a bigger song since it was the first of the long (5 or more) #1 songs, but Love Without End, Amen is probably a defacto song people associate with George Strait. It's hard to pin a single song on the man, but "Amen" is probably as close as you can get.

It's so strange how just last week I started hearing this song all the time on the radio when up before April I don't think I'd ever heard it during the daytime hours. I would say IGAC might have a clear shot at the top 10 with how well it's been doing but seeing that it's 27 weeks old I just can't imagine it hanging around another 15-20 weeks. I remember when Jon Pardi and Craig Campbell took over 40 weeks to climb the charts, even though their songs started to pick up after about 40 weeks they still couldn't make the top 10. I don't think radio's going to keep playing a song after 10 months. I'll keep my fingers crossed for at least a top 15 peak, though.

It's nice hearing this song from this great new artist, George Strait! I hope we hear a lot more from him. I know this is meant to be a joke, but "I Got A Car's" chart run is the exact kind of chart run from a newcomer. I like churchchoir am still holding back saying this will go top 10 because of how old it is. Seeing an artist like George having a 40+ week chart run is just so odd to me. I just hope that this song can defy the odds and become a top 10 single, but I'll take top 15 at this point as well. Great seeing that front page add though.

With any luck Bob Kingsley will give the immortal 'One Night At A Time' a spin on 'CT40' this weekend right after 'IGAC', since it replaced Clay Walker's awesome 'Rumor Has It' @ #1 exactly 17 years ago this week enroute to finishing #3 for the year @ R&R/Mediabase behind 'It's Your Love' and, Carrying Your Love With Me'.

Nice piece of chart lore, Marv. I have my own listing of favorite Strait songs and I've ranked all of his #1's, but it's really an impossible task because there's just so much music in his songbook. I know it didn't get 5 weeks at #1, only 4, but Carrying Your Love With Me always comes in ahead of One Night At A Time when I try to come up with rankings.
I'm hoping that another new artist -- y'all have probably not heard of him -- name of Alan Jackson also breaks through the way Strait (is that how you spell it? it doesn't look right) has done. AJ has sung songs featuring driving and cars just like this Strait fellow, so maybe his music would be well-timed to succeed at radio.
As for top 10 or top 15, I'm prepared to think about them, but not until after IGAC is closing in on the top 20, or has actually made it. He fell behind EYB on MB this morning, but I think his chances for top 20 on Billboard depend on going up ahead of EYB, Brice, and Lynch (maybe). He's at 27 now and what will the charts look like in 4 weeks?
On BB, obviously Niemann will be done, I think Gilbert will be gone (or just about gone), along with maybe Rascal Flatts and very likely Sara Evans. Maybe Craig Morgan too. Possibly Justin Moore. Some chance Hunter Hayes will go, but he keeps staying in the plus column (barely) and I won't pull him. Call it 5 songs, or 6, dropping off.
Then if George can pass 1 or 2 himself while posting good gains -- this is the unknown factor but obviously if he doesn't add a bunch of audience then he won't have a way to get to the top 10 -- he could go up 7 and reach #20. But will other songs pass him? Tim and Faith, ZBB, maybe Dierks although I think Dierks is gaining too slowly -- it's not easy to sketch this out, but he's got at least a chance at the top 20 if he has 4 more weeks of solid gains. He'll need to gain 1.5 to 2 mill every week.

Yeah, it just seems like a huge amount of audience to gain to catch the next pack. Songs behind will begin catching up as well I'm sure so let's just hope we get a steady diet of increased gains every day.

Are we thinking this could climb to top 10 or even flirt with the top of the chart????

I would be ecstatic with a top ten to keep the streak alive. It's picking up steam, so I guess there's a chance :)

^I'm still on tip toes with this song when it comes to the chart, but I've had faith in it from the start. It's been a long ride getting here so far, but I'm buckled up and not getting out of the car. This is a perfect song to have out on radio during the summer and I see no reason why come July and mid August we still won't be hearing this, and hopefully somewhere in the top 10. Keeping my fingers crossed!

There was an ad for IGAC in today's Country Aircheck Today email. And on that note, on my way from the gym tonight I heard IGAC for the first time on Austin's only radio station (out of three) monitored by both Billboard and Mediabase. I've heard it consistently on KOKE FM (which isn't monitored) and on KVET (Mediabase monitored). KASE 101 wouldn't even touch "I Got A Car" when George played a concert here in January (they lean heavy on the current top 20 format), so they've only recently added this either last week or this week. Good signs all around! I think it would be a good bet to say IGAC is on its way to a top 20 showing now.

There are quite a few songs that can go recurrent on Billboard, if not on the May 31 (upcoming) chart then by the week after.
Brantley Gilbert, Eric Church, Keith Urban, Sara Evans would be 4, and Hunter Hayes looks like he's about done. One of these weeks, Craig Morgan's going to drop, right? He's 44 weeks old now. There are other drop candidates and George could pass a song or two himself. It may not be likely, but there's at least a chance IGAC hits the top 20 on Billboard of 6/7. And the chance is growing.
