George will most likely get passed by Blake Shelton and Dustin Lynch this week, but he could quite possibly re-pass the Swon Brothers on Mediabase since he currently has a lead in both spins and audience. However, if IGAC doesn't manage to pass "Later On," I don't think it'll reach the top 30 Sunday, since it's #32 right now and will probably fall back to #34 over the course of the week.

Stop the presses! IGAC is #30 at Billboard tonight!!
It's BB gain was much bigger than the MB gain--up almost 1.9 million for the week on Billboard, and as a result George jumps 32-30*. Blake's new one jumped ahead, but his old one went recurrent. Sheryl Crow also went recurrent and George re-passed The Swon Brothers, at least for the time being. He's ahead of "Later On" by about 500k.

Nice to see it go the other way for once. I know a lot of the gain is because the LA station has jumped all over it, but that's still a nice gain and another strong pick up today has me optimistic again. Callout scores and sales have both really picked since the ACM's, heck the song has actually been higher on the mongrel chart the past two weeks than any of the radio charts. I hate to get my hopes up again, but maybe radio is starting to wake up.

It can gain 4 positions. Blake Shelton's old song, that's +1. Dan + Shay, that's +2. Tim McGraw, that's +3. And then George has work to do, and he has to pass Sheryl Crow. I don't know what kind of week he's going to have -- gaining another 2 million would be unlikely, though possible. But Sheryl might contribute. Am I wrong about Dan + Shay leaving? According to my notes, their song has had 2 consecutive small losses, but losses nonetheless. If IGAC can finally hit the MB top 30, it can take aim on the top 20. Sure, he'd have to nearly double his audience on BB, but there will be some songs leaving so the total audience needed will fall a little.

George did re-pass the Swon Brothers as I said he could, and now he'll probably pass Sheryl Crow since her song was sent recurrent on Billboard. He'll get passed up by Blake and Dustin, but with three songs going recurrent on Mediabase this week, George can get as high as #29.

This had yet another huge daily gain, from 10.9 to 11.3. Whoa. I am almost in agreement with Zazie that if MCA can get this into the top 30 it might be able to get close to top 20.

Let's give this song 4 weeks of gains that move it up 6 mill on Billboard. I'm not confident that will happen but right now I can't rule it out -- its pace is better than that right now, but I'm being conservative and allowing for 1 of the weeks to be a slow one. That brings it to just over 13 mill, which (not by coincidence) is just what the #20 song (Hunter Hayes) has for total audience on the current BB chart. Will that be good enough? Let's see who will leave in the next 4 weeks: 1. Houser 2. Niemann 3. one other top 15 song - Keith Urban? Justin Moore? 4. Tim's falling song 5. at least 1 out of the Craig Campbell, Craig Morgan, Sara Evans group 6. Hunter Hayes? 7. one or two more that I'm not counting on So that would get George up to 22 or 23, assuming that his nice run doesn't even allow him to pass somebody. Of course he'll get passed by Tim's new one and Zac Brown's new one, but I won't count anyone else. So he'd be in the top 25 and putting together enough audience to contend for the top 20. There are too many ifs here. I'm not convinced myself. But at least I can see a path to top 20 contention, which I couldn't see at all two weeks ago. There's hope!

It's taken well over FIVE MONTHS longer than it should have, but format cume-monster KKGO/LA has substantially boosted airplay on this masterpiece at long last, as in ranking #11 in spins over the past week as opposed to 65th one week earlier; four days ago, those numbers were #13 and 88th!!!!!!
'Bout time!!!!!!
Now if a ton of other major market cume-monsters including WUSN, KPLX, KKBQ, WKLB, and all the rest would get on board and boost their airplay........

Just heard George has added another date to the tour. He'll stop in Hidalgo, TX, on June 5th at the State Farm Arena. Limited number of fan club seats go on sale April 29th. I actually used to live down in the Valley of Texas for two years so looking forward to heading down that way for one more show! edit: link to article.

These daily gains are impressive. Up over 12M today in audience; officially up over 1M for the week and these are only numbers through Tuesday. Could this actually go top 20???

This has had a really interesting run. It's like George Strait is a new artist the way this took so long below the top 30 and finally started taking off around #30. I don't know if George will maintain this momentum or not, but regardless this is really a strange chart climb for someone known as the king of country music.

This is the exact kind of long lasting chart run that newcomers or semi-newcomers have. But it's just odd because the name next to the single reads George Strait. These past couple days are super encouraging but I've been let down before. Unfortunately that "weeks on" number is the one downside right now. I'll try not to get my hopes up cause if you follow these charts long enough you can become a skeptic at heart, but at least I'm cautiously optimistic.

I really wouldn't mind if every single between 21 and 29 on the charts flopped. I mean, I don't hate "Invisible", but HH should regain momentum with a new song and I'd like Eli Young Band to get a big hit with "Dust". Brad and Lee, I'm just kind of indifferent to more or less. The other 6 (including HH) need to go away immediately. Hunter, Jake, CY, Nichols, and Paslay...let your songs hit top 20 to keep some momentum and then die please. We need to make room for this wonderful song. Heck, while we're at it, the only song in the 10 to 19 range that I am actively rooting for is "Chainsaw" so we might as well clean out this whole chart.
This really ought to repass Dustin Lynch too. I can't believe that song is going anywhere after his previous mediocre runs.
I really cannot believe this song is going anywhere. I am beyond surprised and ecstatic that this one is warming up. Hopefully that leads us to "Credits" because that absolutely has to be a single. (If this was released 2nd like it should have been, we'd have time from "Fence" or "Broken Hearts" too... or as some like one of the slightly lesser tracks between those).

. This really ought to repass Dustin Lynch too. I can't believe that song is going anywhere after his previous mediocre runs. Dustin Lynch's song was iHeartradio's "On The Verge" single this month, so that's why his mediocre song is rising so fast. Looking at the Mediabase top 29 singles ahead of George, I could easily get rid of 18-20 if it was up to me (including "Chainsaw" which I'm really growing a dislike for, but then again I'm not the biggest TBP fan ;)). The only one's I would truly like to see do well are EYB, Joe, Lee, Sara, Keith (Miranda and Eric are already doing well so I excluded them). I agree with churchchoir though in the Dan + Shay thread; how is that Eric Paslay song doing so well? I understand he had a #1 single (gigantic mega sized asterisk by the way), but "Song About A Girl" is such a nothing song IMO. "I Got A Car" is easily one of the most watched chart run's by me ever. It's like I have another sports team to root for. Sabres, Bills, Syracuse...I Got A Car. ;)

It took 22 weeks to get River Of Love to get to #1 and 22 weeks to get The Breath You Take to the top ten. George Strait is setting records in the wrong way.

I've been following the IGAC chart climb since the very beginning and have always thought this would be a painstakingly slow climb to its peak inside the top 20. If they released this right after IGAC I think this would shoot right into the solid top 10 but they went with I Believe which was just about the most shocking single release of all time due to its dullness and how obvious it was that radio wouldn't touch it. Hopefully WTCR can be George's final number 1 and in all likeliness his final top 10. Radio just doesn't want to play George anymore because he doesn't put out the " Big truck, tailgate, moonshine under moonlight Friday night corn field songs"

I was wondering when KPLX (The Wolf) in Dallas was going to jump on this...and I see they finally have this week. Los Angeles, San Diego, Atlanta, Louisville, and now Dallas. This is a good sign that IGAC might still have gas left in its tank after all.

Finally hearing this from time to time in San Diego. It only took them how many months. But then again, I don't recall them ever playing "I Believe". Not that many stations really did seem to actually play it.

This skyrockets up from 12.3 yesterday to 12.8 today, officially up well over 2M from last week's 10.6. It'll be interesting to see how this translates over to Billboard, though. I'm still not sure what to make of this. Either MCA is just trying its best to get this into the top 30 for a peak chart position, or they are actually going full throttle to get this song cruising up the charts. Next week should give us more of a clue on that. For what it's worth I am now hearing this on the radio locally more than I did weeks prior.

Blake's new one knocked George back to #31 today, but Blake's old one will go recurrent tomorrow evening at MB, so that will put George back up to #30. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if D+S loses their bullet tomorrow (and I expect they will), that will be their 3rd straight bullet-less Sunday at MB, meaning they would go recurrent as well. But I think this is only the 2nd drop week for Houser, so he should get one more chart week at MB (even though he'll definitely go recurrent on Monday's BB chart). So if D+S does leave, that could put George up to #29 on MB. But if they somehow manage to stay on, I still think IGAC would come in at #30 since "Doin' What She Likes" will be sent to recurrent tomorrow evening.

Tim, Blake & Dan and Shay will all go recurrent tomorrow unless D&S manages to somehow retain their bullet; Randy Houser will go recurrent a week from tomorrow since he followed Blake to #1, with Jerrod Nieman set to follow Randy to the recurrent chart the following Sunday on May 11th.
I'm also inclined to believe that D&S will go recurrent tomorrow, one key reason being that there's a NASCAR race currently in progress with TV coverage scheduled until 10:30 PM (EDT), which will probably cost D&S some spins from various country stations which are also NASCAR affiliates.
If that happens, King George will finally finish the week at #29, but at least several poswerhouses with hefty weekly cume figures including KYGO, WKHX, KKBQ, KPLX, KSON & KKGO have finally boosted airplay on this standout tune, even if all of them are 2-4 months late in doing so, with is downright shameful to put it very mildly.

Yes, this would be the third bulletless week on MB for Dan+Shay, so they'd leave -- but since bullets are determined by spin totals, I'm not so sure this one's leaving. When I looked at last Sunday's numbers this morning -- and maybe I've forgotten the right numbers but I think I'm right -- the song had gained 50 or so spins for the week to date. 51, I think it was. Anyway something in that neighborhood, and the song only lost 24 spins on this morning's MB update. So it seems to me this one's likely to rebullet. I guess it could post a bad total tomorrow, but that's a lot for it to lose in one day, in the context of the rest of this week's numbers.
But you're right that the song's going to finish no worse than #30 for the week no matter what Dan+Shay do, so the countdown spins should be rolling in.

Cruising up the charts after half a year? Anyway, I hope I Got A Car lands at #30 on the MediaBase chart so the countdown spins kick in. "Cruising" wasn't referencing the previous months of this song, rather just a tongue in cheek reference to a car and hopefully the future of this great tune (personally I deduct about two months from this song as it wasn't going to go anywhere between November and December...it was just time to release a new single and MCA launched this during the holiday season). Anyways, in that half a year time span George won CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year wins. We've all been wanting to see this song take off, and now that it is showing signs of that we're at a point of "yea, well its been six months already so put a towel in it." This hasn't been an easy chart run, but as a fan and as fans we'll have to accept the inevitable of radio phasing out giving George's new songs a green light. It's been a little rejuvenating to see IGAC get some love these past couple of weeks, and I'm just going to take the moment and enjoy it :)
