This gets me thinking is George's radio career might not be as dead as previously thought? I've been hearing this quite a bit on the radio around here. Could this be a top 10 hit followed by When The Credits Roll which I believe could be a ride off into the sunset "thanks for everything George" #1 hit. After this album I'm fairly confident George won't ever have another top 30 hit. Unfortunately, this album won't go 5 deep because of I Believe bombing so hard but if for some reason they do decide to go 5 deep they could release The Night Is Young after this which has well met by critics then follow that with WTCR. What do y'all think about what happens next???

"The Night Is Young" was being pushed by Billboard as a potential single prior to the album's release, but I don't think I see this as a successful radio single. Good song, but if they were to go 5, "Breaking Hearts" and "Fence" are the two frontrunners for the final spot. TNIY and "When Love Comes Around Again" could be dark horses, but ultimately, I don't see them being very successful.
As it stands, I am only expecting WTCR, but a 5th single would be very pleasant.

^I'm not convinced "When the Credits Roll" is going to be a single. I thought this would be a song George would incorporate into his live show during the final run, but alas he hasn't. He could still perform it at the Dallas show, though. My personal selection as the next single would be the great "You Don't Know What You're Missing," but this is 2014 country radio and not 1994. "When Love Comes Around Again" and "Sittin' On the Fence" would be my next two favorite choices as singles.
I'm both surprised and yet not surprised IGAC is now in the top 20 and still showing signs of life. I had all my friends loving this song last summer and then we got "I Believe." Here we are a summer later and it's just now getting some love.

I've said it before and I stand by it..."Breaking Hearts" is the strongest song on the album, period and it can't become another "As Far As It Goes"

"Credits" would be another good single choice. I just don't think he's anywhere near done as a top chart guy. This record has nearly scanned Gold, this single is selling decently and there's always that tempting radio format splinter which King George will be a mega part of.

"Sittin' On the Fence" would be my choice for a next single, just sounds like song that is strictly George Strait, no one else could hold a candle to him on that tune. Love it.

Sitting on the Fence is an amazing song, but not on country radio today. If this was 1994-98, then absolutely. Actually if this was the 90s, the album could possibly produce up to maybe six chart toppers which makes his music even more amazing. Doesn't give in to trends, doesn't give in to what others say, just produces what is fantastic country music.
As far as the splintering of the charts...bring on the Hot Adult Country chart any day please. I'd follow that chart like it was going out of style.

With 30+ weeks in the bank in what has to be the most absurd chart run in the 18+ years that I've been a country music listener, might as well go for FORTY WEEKS----just for the heck of it.
Is that insane, or what????????
Tim & Faith will undoubtedly pass him today or tomorrow at the absolute latest, but with Keith Urban and Thomas Rhett both going recurrent this weekend, that should get him to #20 on the Mediabase chart come Sunday afternoon.

I'd be most interested in seeing "When Love Comes Around Again." On an album full of great songs (well, minus "I Believe"), there's no shortage of good choices for a fourth single release. WLCAA is definitely my favorite track on Love Is Everything though and it has been since the start. I just love that one!
So glad to see this one finally taking off the way it has as of late. I've heard it a lot on the radio here in Kansas City, even before it was catching on. I still really wish he'd make a music video for this one though. It'd be a great song to do his "final video."

^ Doesn't he hate doing videos though?
Also, if they do one more single off this album, I believe it'd be single #100 for him. Great way to end.

I remember George saying back in 2008 or 2009 that he might never do another one. Now I believe he was joking when he said that as he was chuckling, but when you see the little amount of music videos he's done over his 35 year career, I just might take his word for it.

I saw George last night at Gillette Stadium, and that prompted me to write and share this message on Facebook today...figured I would share it here too:
So I have to say I was completely mesmerized by George Strait on his The Cowboy Rides Away tour last night. Sometimes I forget what country music used to be not too long ago. Songs that brought out emotions. Songs that told stories. Songs that relied on the fiddle and steel guitar. Songs like Marina Del Rey, Amarillo By Morning, and I Can Still Make Cheyenne. I enjoy a lot of today’s country music, but I wish there was room on radio for deeper songs and more traditional leaning songs. The country genre needs a split…hopefully it’s coming soon.

I've only seen George live once back in October of 2010. The openers were Reba and Lee Ann Womack (you wanna talk about some killer opening acts). The two songs I wanted to hear were "Blue Clear Sky" and "I Can Still Make Cheyenne". He played "Blue Clear Sky" relatively early which I was happy about, but it was abut 10:30 or so at night and he'd been on for about an hour and a half, so I kind of knew there were only a few songs left. Then that fiddle started, and I was ecstatic. :)
I could care less what else he did the rest of the night. I could die happy knowing I got to see those two songs live. Must be great to see him on this last tour of his.

I'm aware that George hates doing music videos, but I'm sure he could suffer through one final one because this single would literally be the perfect one to be his last, should he never wish to do another. Coinciding with the growing success of this single and all the timing of his final tour and the Entertainer of the Year wins, I'd just love to see it. It probably won't happen, but a video for "I Got a Car" would just be great at this point in time, imo.

I really love this. I'm glad it's finally moving up on the charts. Off-topic, but I wish I'd gotten a chance to see George in concert. That's something I'll regret for a long time!

He's not going to be completely done playing shows forever--he's just gonna be done with touring. He's said that he's open to still playing the occasional festival or fair. He just doesn't want to spend half the year on the road with a bunch of tour buses and semis traveling the country and playing several times a week...I'd imagine that's exhausting. He wants to spend more time at home and with his family, which is completely understandable. IGAC looks likely to check in at #18 on Billboard tomorrow, with a slight chance at #17 if he can overtake Dustin Lynch, or a slight chance at #19 if Thomas Rhett stays top 10 in spins (and George remains behind Dustin)...but #18 looks most likely. Lee Brice has zoomed way out of George's range and Eric Paslay has opened up his lead a bit more as well, but I'm optimistic that George can go up ahead of Eric. I expect Dustin to go up ahead of George, though, even if IGAC temporarily passes "Where It's At". The problem now is that Tim, Dierks, Brantley, and Lady A are all coming up very fast. No one from up ahead of George will likely go recurrent next week (the 9th), unless Craig Campbell finally throws in the towel this week. I don't expect Billy Currington to peak anytime soon, and FGL will get one more top 10 week before they go recurrent. It'll take a few weeks for Luke, Miranda, and Brett to clear out as well. And Justin Moore and Tyler Farr both seemingly have their eyes set on #1, so it doesn't seem that George will get any help from them.

I love Canada. I really do. I can see it from my backyard. However, I Got A Car just debuted at #49 up there. What's the hold up?

Off to a fast start in the new chart week. Now it's at least possible that IGAC can climb the chart faster than either Lynch or Paslay (though going up behind Brice seems to be a fact of life). If IGAC can combine those gains with a slowdown by Tim/Faith, then top 15 looks like a lock and top 10 starts to become a possibility (though it's quite a few weeks off in the future). I'm combining JHomes87's comments above with my observation of the beginning of the MB chart week to arrive at this positive forecast, although it is by no means certain to happen.
Not even close to certain. The song could be on its last legs, for all I know. It is a bit older than the usual George Strait song is when it reaches #18, so we're in uncharted waters (bad pun intended). Still, a month ago this would have looked like a pipe dream -- top 15 reasonably in sight? top 10 possible if a few things go right? No, that would have looked ridiculous. But now there is hope for IGAC.
We don't want to see any of the big songs down below IGAC move into passing range over the next few weeks, but of course that could spoil our hopes. Let's just keep watching the daily updates and hoping.

I agree--definitely a good start to the week. I'm always a bit wary that seeing big numbers after a week of rather small-ish numbers might be due to increased airplay at the Westwood One satellite stations, which inflates the MB audience but doesn't translate to BB, but so far this week it doesn't look like they've made any major adjustments to the number of times they've played IGAC (although it is harder to tell earlier in the week--we can only see the 7-day bullet at the individual stations and not exactly when they are playing it, so since only 2 of the past 7 days count for the current chart week...you see where I'm going with this. If they increase it by 1-2 spins per day and didn't start until yesterday, we can't really see/know that yet). But I am optimistic that this will remain ahead of the Tim and Dierks songs for at least a little while longer, and threaten to pass both the Lynch and Paslay tunes this week. I was afraid, based on this past week's numbers, that we might instead see a move from 18-20, which would of course happen if IGAC fails to pass anyone and gets passed by 2 pursuers (since no one from up ahead will go recurrent on the next chart). A move from 18-16 or even 'only' #17 would be much better.

Not to be picky, but can't Florida Georgia Line go recurrent next week on BB? It's in week 21, so it doesn't need 3 drop weeks. It's down 4.5 mill in the first two days of the week -- then down another 2.1 mill this morning -- I think it's on pace at least to contend for recurrency, dropping below current #11 Billy Currington. If it loses 2.5 mill a day, it should leave -- if it only loses 2 mill a day, maybe it will stay on.
Maybe the dynamic duo will do George a favor and grant him a +1 this coming week. I can see why you think it won't happen, but I do think it's possible. Giving it a 40% shot right now.

This one's bullet at Westwood One has jumped from +1 yesterday to +6 today, so that's not a good sign. It looks like my suspicions may be confirmed, that a good chunk of the recent audience gains at MB are from that one satellite station, and therefore a large percentage of these increases won't translate over to Billboard.
