She definitely deserves that Grammy nom but I would swap Pharrell out for Mariah. I get that Pharrell is a hot commodity and Happy was ubiquitous but... Jhene's album grows on me more and more the more I play it.

I still love this album but this era feels like such a dud. It's crazy that her EP made a bigger impact than her debut. I kind of feel like its because she moved away from the hip-hop sound she's had in the past and did all those songs with live instrumentation.

I loved this album but haven't revisited it in ages. Tells me all I need to know about this album moving further. It was nothing spectacular even though the parts all fit. Still prefer two of the mixtapes over this.

W.A.Y.S., Lyin' King, Wading and Eternal Sunshine are the standouts for me.

So many stand out tracks and 98% of the songs are good to me. Just wished there a bit more versatility or something to break up the wall of vibe that i love but felt smothered with on the album. It almost felt like a relationship where you love him and he loves you but he smothers you with his love.

i love the entire album, with the singles + lyin king, wading and spotless mind being the standouts for me, but i hope her next material is in the same vein of sail out.

I would love for her to tackle an uptempo on her next album. Post to Be proves that she can tackle a nice uptempo. Would be nice to hear her on a NicNac production.

This is one of my favorites on the album. This is also her best video, IMO.

I'm not surprised her album tanked. For some reason the stars just don't seemed aligned for these types of situation. It's rare that an artist becomes huge when they've already took a turn a bat. That's why they say you only get one shot. Artist like Jhene usually get a hit or two then release an album and flop...Nivea, Christina Milian, etc. I guess the general public just isn't interested beyond a single or two.

Jhene is nothing like Nivea who in turn is nothing like Christina Milian. Lol.
It totally did not register to me that Sail Out got nominated for the Grammy and Souled Out got paid dust. It doesn't surprise me, and hopefully it's a good sign that she seems to realize they were overthinking the album.

"Souled Out" was also released about 3 weeks before the deadline so one had resonated with the voters longer than the other.

I'd put Jhené more in the Amerie/Teedra Moses/Tweet camp. She's way more respected than Nivea or Christina Milian ever were.

I basically saying her journey is very similar to theirs. It just seems like even when they find a little success they end up right back at square one. Basically it's hard for an artist to have success if they did not come out of the gate swinging. And you're right, she's very similar to those singers.
