Not bad..... but i hoped for more. Can't really tell much from the clip so I will reserve judgement until I hear it all.

ful clip is now available on All Access. I like both Vertical Horizon's and gary Allan's versions of the song. Not sure if this will be a huge hit for Gary though.

He does a good job conveying the feeling of the song, and he hits the high notes accurately. He's his usual strong self, but I agree with Eric; the song might not do all that well.

Don't really like this sounds too much like the original.

I think it's good. I don't listen to pop much so it's the song is not really old hat for me.

He held a free concert at the hoedown in Detroit, and said this was his next single. Unfortunately, he didn't credit Vertical Horizon. Some people were instantly familiar with this.

Being familiar with both versions, I think Gary does a great job with this song.
Although radio might not like it, (or play it) I think anyone who knows what's happened to Gary and his family recently can understand why he would record and release this song.

Ouch. The loss of 40 plays this early is not a good sign. Hopefully it will pick up. Gary is one of the rising stars in the industry.

Ouch. The loss of 40 plays this early is not a good sign. Hopefully it will pick up. Gary is one of the rising stars in the industry. I think the song got some early play on syndicated shows, so it went backward when it lost those spins. Now it's gaining strongly -- past 2 million impressions Friday morning when as recently as Monday it was barely over 1 million. I always worry a little when an artist covers a pop song, but I think he's going to do just fine. It's great having Gary back on the radio.

I had the opportunity to catch Gary Allan's concert in Pittsfield, PA last night and I am glad that I did. He has made "Best I Ever Had" his own. He performed four tracks from his new album, "Tough All Over". I hope the title track (a great country rocker) will be the next single. I noticed that "Best I Ever Had" is about to crack the top 20. Does it have enough momentum to reach the top ten? :)

I don't see why this song can't make the top 10. It's in its 12th Billboard chart week now. It took Josh Gracin 15 weeks to get to the top 20 and Lonestar 10 weeks -- Gary will be in between those two numbers. Both those songs look top 10 bound.
Maybe this one will lose out because it's a cover song, but I imagine it will benefit from finally reaching #20 (in 2 weeks?) and take off a bit.

I really hope it does. It is a great song and deserves to top the charts.
I think it will make the Top 10 for sure, peaking around #6. But that's a total guess, of course. :)

Because I live in Australia, it usually takes me forever to catch up on new music, and I finally got to hear this song...! I gotta say, I never thought this would've worked as a country tune, but it's a great version! And Gary's gritty voice compliments it perfectly. Does anyone know where it's at (or where it's not at...) in the charts right now???

Does anyone know where it's at (or where it's not at...) in the charts right now??? It's #21 on both R&R and BB charts. It's been moving a little slowly, but it should still make the top 10, and I'm hoping for a peak somewhere in the top 5.
