I will post later my thoughts on the award winners, but I quickly wanted to say who I thought were the best performers tonight and who were the worst.
My best is a tie... between Faith Hill and Sugarland. I don't like Faith's song too well but she pretty much nailed it.
My worst is also a tie... between Big & Rich and Lee Ann Womack. I love Lee Ann, but oh my gosh!

I am still watching and don't know the big awards yet. Just 2 quick comments:
1- Brooks & Dunn again? Are MG & B&R cancelling each other out? They both had much more exciting years. This is so old.
2 - Faith HAS to dump these background vocalists. They are the same one from the Cry live perfomances. They dance like a bunch of freaks and they completely overpower her. That and the lighting ruined an already shaky performance. I love her, but she's kinda rusty right now!

UGH! Poor Tim obviously can't hear! He's off-key and even pulled his ear monitor out. The techies sabotaged Tim and Faith! :o ... ;)
Kenny Chesney was really on tonight... I am SHOCKED no one said anything about the wedding.
And... did anyone else see Garth saying "love you baby" ? I wish he and Trish had sang GR together. It was great to see him. The Chris Ledeux tribute was sad...

I didn't watch the ACMs, as I said I wouldn't, but I am not surprised by this comment about Faith's ACM performance. (Did you see her on the "Today" show? Just...bad. ) I am glad, however, that my ears weren't deceiving me in regard to the song. When I listened to "Mississippi Girl" for the first time, I swore that it sounded like something that could be on the "Cry" album. The background vocals were the main thing that jumped out at me. Since she is using the same background singers from "Cry," that confirms what I thought. Overall, the ACMs sounded like a complete bore. Glad I didn't waste my time on it.

Shocked that Gretchen took FOTY. I would have swore on Martina walking away with it. Congrats Ms. Wilson!! She definetly deserves it.

I thought that Faith sounded good. Maybe I missed something.

I thought Faith sounded rusty, for sure. And you are right, the lighting was way off.
I was rooting for Sara Evans to take home Female Vocalist, but Gretchen had the best year and I am just glad that Martina was de-throned.
Way to go, Keith Urban, as well!

I thought that Faith sounded good. Maybe I missed something. Let me clarify. I don't think she sounded rusty. I just though her stage prescence was kind of awkward. She seemed nervous (not that I blame her). As for the sound, those 3 BG singers are the same ones who started with her during the "Cry" CD... and they are awful. Obnoxious. I think they take from her sound rather than enhance it. OK. Did anyone else notice Sara's face as Gretchen was awarded Female Vocalist? I feel bad for her & Terri. They each had great years and they have been in the business longer. However, Gretchen had a bigger year, and that's the way these awards often go. Sara would have been my choice, but I am happy for Gretchen.

I thought the whole show was disappointing, emotionally flat most of the way through. Tim sounded the worst -- that was embarrassingly off.
I was surprised at how good Sugarland sounded. Dierks Bentley also did a terrific job. Chesney did better than I expected, but I didn't expect much. Toby Keith sounded better from across the world than most of the people in Las Vegas. Strait picked the right show to miss.
