AF numbers are actually quite decent considering how many of their fans openly detests their new sound direction.

www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/chart-alert/5770745/arcade-fire-bound-for-second-no-1-album-on-billboard-200Arcade Fire Bound for Second No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | October 30, 2013 Arcade Fire Bound for Second No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Arcade Fire is heading for its second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. Industry sources suggest the band's new album, "Reflektor," may sell around 135,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Nov. 3. That sum should be enough to surpass whatever the current No. 1 title, Katy Perry's "Prism," will sell in its second week. "Prism" debuted at No. 1 this past week, selling 286,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan. The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 6. It's unlikely that "Prism" will sell enough to block Arcade Fire, as most No. 1-debuting albums drop by a significant percentage. Last week's No. 1 debut, Pearl Jam's "Lightning Bolt," fell by 72% this week, while in the previous week, Miley Cyrus' No. 1-debuting "Bangerz" dropped by 73% in its second week. If "Prism" declines by at least 70%, it would sell around 85,000. Arcade Fire's "Reflektor" should mark the second No. 1 for the group, following its 2010 album "The Suburbs." It arrived atop the list with 156,000 sold. It spent 52 weeks on the chart and has sold 776,000 according to SoundScan. The band's new album is also their first with major distribution, after a career as an independently-distributed act. Universal Music Group is distributing the new album, while its previous sets went through Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA). Another change in the world of Arcade Fire is that they have a new partner in Capitol Records, which is promoting the album to radio. (Arcade Fire is still with its longtime label Merge Records.) Aside from Arcade Fire, there are upwards of five more albums eyeing a possible top 10 start on the Billboard 200 next week. They include Kelly Clarkson's "Wrapped In Red" (maybe 60,000), and, of "Duck Dynasty" fame, the Robertsons' "Duck the Halls" (50,000). The latter album features the cast of the A&E TV show (the Robertson family) singing familiar holiday favorites, with a few new original tunes in the mix. The album also boasts guest turns from country stars like George Strait, Luke Bryan and Alison Krauss. Staying with the country theme, Toby Keith's "Drinks After Work" may launch with 35,000 or so. Meanwhile, fellow country singer Thomas Rhett could see his debut full-length set "It Goes Like This" bow with perhaps 35,000 as well.

YOUR TOP 15 (PLUS TWO): It'll be another banner chart week for Steve Barnett's reorganized, revitalized Capitol Music Group, as Arcade Fire (seen above performing at the Tower) will be the #1 album and Katy Perry claims #2. The Top 10 will feature no fewer than six debuts, including the year's highest-charting holiday albums to date (from Kelly Clarkson and Duck Dynasty's The Robertsons). Judging by early indications, these two may well go head-to-head for the Yuletide album crown. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend.
1. Arcade Fire (Merge) 130-140k 2. Katy Perry (Capitol) 90-95k 3. Kelly Clarkson (RCA) 65-70k 4. The Robertsons (EMI Nashville) 50-55k 5. Toby Keith (Show Dog) 35-40k 6. Thomas Rhett (Valory) 30-35k 7. Drake (Young Money/Cash Money/Republic) 30-35k 8. Linkin Park (Warner Bros.) 30-35k 9. Miley Cyrus (RCA) 28-32k 10. Lorde (Lava/Republic) 28-32k 11. Pearl Jam (Monkeywrench/Republic) 25-28k 12. Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) 21-24k 13. Justin Timberlake (RCA) 19-21k 14. Cher (Warner Bros.) 16-18k 15. Paul McCartney (Hear Music) 16-18k 16. Imagine Dragons (KidinaKorner/Interscope) 14-16k 17. Florida Georgia Line (Republic Nashville) 14-16k
In other news, we're really sick from eating all that Halloween candy somebody put in a bowl by the microwave. Damn you, Charleston Chews! (10/31p)

There's a Duck Dynasty holiday album? I love it. Might as well make that money now! I bet Kris Jenner is kicking herself for not trying it...

If Prism does 95K, that would be a 67% drop. Better hold than some other second-week dips, but I don't know if I'd say it's a "great" hold. Lorde's album, now that's been having what I'd call great holds.

AF disappoints in the UK too, not even close to the 66k opening of 'The Suburbs', their momentum has gone apparently. I wouldn't say disappoints. It's been 3 years since their last album and album sales in the UK have gotten worse and worse since then. They look like they're heading for a 40k+ sales week, which I think is quite respectable.

Actually my post relied on Tuesday's midweeks and Wednesday seemed a bit better for them... Maybe all retail outlets weren't included on Tuesday? 40k+ is ok I guess.

We're in November now, so we should hope to see #1 albums sell 100-200K regularly in the next 8 weeks.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/5778126/kelly-clarkson-duck-dynasty-christmas-albums-set-for-top-10Kelly Clarkson, 'Duck Dynasty' Christmas Albums Set for Top 10 By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | November 01, 2013 New Christmas albums from Kelly Clarkson and the hit TV show "Duck Dynasty" are on course for top 10 debuts on the Billboard 200 chart. Clarkson's new "Wrapped In Red," which is her first holiday effort, may sell around 60,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Nov. 3. That could result in a top five debut for the pop star -- and her sixth top 10 effort overall. No. 1 next week should be the also-arriving Arcade Fire with its new album, "Reflektor." Sources say it will sell perhaps 135,000. Katy Perry's current No. 1, "PRISM," will likely fall to No. 2, with maybe 90,000. The new Billboard 200's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Also on tap for a possible top five debut is the "Duck the Halls" album from the Robertson family, of A&E's reality series "Duck Dynasty." The Christmas set may move 55,000 to 60,000 copies. The album features the cast of the show singing familiar holiday favorites, with a few new original tunes in the mix. It also boasts guest turns from country stars like George Strait, Luke Bryan and Alison Krauss. The rest of the top 10 next week should see bows from Toby Keith's "Drinks After Work" (35,000), Thomas Rhett's debut full-length set "It Goes Like This" (35,000) and Linkin Park's remix album "Recharged" (30,000). For Keith, "Drinks" could mark his 14th top 10 set on the tally, and would be his 12th studio album in a row to reach the top 10. On SoundScan's Building chart (below), Arcade Fire is No. 1, followed by Perry and "Duck the Halls" at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants. As for the rest of the top 10: Linkin Park, Rhett and Keith are found at Nos. 4-6, while Clarkson's "Wrapped In Red" sits at No. 7. Drake's "Nothing Was the Same" is No. 8, Lorde's "Pure Heroine" is No. 9 and Miley Cyrus' "Bangerz" is No. 10.

My guess is that Target hasn't been included yet. I'm sure the bulk of Kelly's sales are from there.
