^Recovery's 2nd week was 313k.
Unless GaGa sells like Katy Perry (under 300k), GaGa should debut at #1.

Can anyone clear up whether or not MMLP2 is counted under the RIAA as a double disc? I didn't think special edition/deluxe albums over 100 minutes counted and it had to be different albums like OutKast how they packaged together 2 solo albums. Or does it not matter as long as it is 100 minutes?

The Fame debuted at No. 17 and fluctuated quite a bit before reaching its eventual No. 2 peak.

Not that she was ever in contention with Eminem releasing the same week but Celine fails to score her 5th #1 album yet again (if I'm counting right she has 4) and hasn't topped the Billboard 200 since 2002!

Considering hat Celine has not had a real hit single since ANDHC, the fact the OH (#2), Miracle (#4) and TC (#3), all hit Top 5 (and all went platinum) is pretty amazing - especially TC.

When we'll know the predictions for Celine, Avril and The Wanted?

HITS had a post up a few minutes back that has since been deleted, but it mentioned Eminem with a 675-725k prediction, Celine Dion with 70-80k, Avril Lavigne with 40-45k and Pentatonix with 27-30k. Not sure if some of the totals were incorrect or if it was put up too early.

YOUR NEW RELEASES: Guess he's earned the right to call himself a rap god, huh? Hip-hop megastar Eminem will score this year's second largest debut this week. Here are this week's key new releases:
Eminem (Shady/Aftermath/Interscope) 700-750k Celine Dion (Columbia) 70-80k Avril Lavigne (Epic) 40-45k Pentatonix (Madison Gate) 27-30k The Wanted (Mercury/IDJ) 18-20k Il Divo (SYCO/Columbia) 14-16k James Blunt (Atlantic) 14-16k Jake Miller (eOne) 14-16k M.I.A. (Interscope) 12-14k

Oh, Jesus...that's even worse than I was expecting for Avril. 45k is barely half of what her last album sold its first week out.

They have some modern, current material yet they have done nothing. I mean, I felt that distributing behind-the-scenes videos through multiple online outlets was nice, but there should have been a music video, more appearances happening throughout this week (and not s**t like Dr. Oz), and more push at radio. Yes, her name is Céline Dion and that alone will prevent most stations from playing her, and the song may have stalled before doing much damage, but we'll never know that for sure. I know I come across as some dumb fan who cannot accept her days are over, and I know she can never reach her peak again - who can? - but I feel this album has so much more potential and I doubt they care enough to do much next year. I'm bitter. Don't talk to me.

Ouch at Celine and Avril. That's about half of what I was expecting from each artist.

I bought Avril Lavigne's cd out of pity.

Would Celine be the biggest disappointment of the year? Those numbers are downright tragic!

Don't talk to me. :'( I actually kinda thought Dr. Oz was an interesting idea since they're getting them old-woman sales (the half-hour QVC special got her 12-15k alone), but I still wish they'd give it more of a push at AC and then move to poppier formats, since the material would work even if it's a bit of a long shot. Get her on Ellen, The Voice, etc., set up an Instagram contest, put out a video like you said, get "Incredible" some placement for the Olympics, make her cover more modern songs on YouTube or something, all that. Bah. ok bye

It's a little lower than I expected for Dion, but not really a surprise. She hasn't had a notable hit single in more than a decade, and some just have moved on, even older fans, I guess.

I'm not sure what they were expecting from Celine, but obviously they feel like it will sell through the holidays. I thought the Jimmy Kimmel musical password thing was hilarious. So are we guessing that LMBTL will end up at #2 or will KP hold better than expected and she'll end up at 3? HolidayGuy - I don't think older fans know she has new music, that's part of the problem - it's been six years. She has to find ways to get the word out, especially without a hit song (not even AC).

there's nothing more awkward than this. everytime I see Celine I remember this video. at :26 she kicks her leg out pretending to play guitar? lol. and just the fact she's singing AC/DC is horrible to begin with. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULmC8JTTVy0

OMG at Celine. If Oprah was still on the air (outside of OWN), she could have gotten higher numbers.

There was that article with the Colombia Rep in Billboard a couple weeks ago. The rep said: "We have Celine’s first record in seven years which I think feels really good and has a fantastic TV plot. Every year there’s one record that sort of captures that adult consumer, and we’re hoping Celine does that because she put out a French record last year that sold 1 million in France, and she’s doing tons of television." "With Celine, we need big television. We’re not gonna get her on top 40 radio."

as much as people try to downplay it, if Celine wouldve *very simply* avoided going up against Eminem lol or the like on a 'typical non competitive slow week' she easily at least had a shot (and VERY much needed momentum/publicity of adding another #1 album after many, many yrs of lackluster-flop results). Wouldve been that much more of a boost esp. since her career and chart power havent been a factor since the very early 2000s. Who the F was behind choosing this as the release week? lol. Im 90%+ sure it obviously wasn't Celine but some dopey record company exec who was drunk, stoned or all of the above at the very least possibly:# I'm not a Celine 'fan' but find her very likable and has an amazing voice and was the 'Adele' in 1995-2000

That was way before Eminem and his label decided on the same album release date. So Celine and her label knew beforehand but wasn't going to change that initial release date, but had to know at this time of the year that she would have a lot of competition from some other major act.

While it's correct that the album release date was moved before Eminem's date was announced, it wasn't the initial release date - that was October 22, and was moved after (not necessarily because) Katy Perry's release date was announced. Just wanted to clarify!

They could have pushed her more than they did, and I hate that they gave up so fast. They don't have to push her to pop radio, at least not yet, but I felt like they threw the song onto AC radio and the push ended there. I understand that even that format has changed between when Céline was last quite active and now, but surely they could have gotten the song to do more than it has.

I sometimes wonder why labels push back album releases and then the albums just underperform anyway. Avril would've been better off releasing in the quiet Summer months when her her earlier single (...growing up) was out. As for Celine, there are some really nice tracks on her album. Not sure why they went with LMBTL as the first single. "Incredible" or "Somebody...." should have been lead single over that one. As for The Wanted, can we say they are no longer wanted here in the U.S.? Haha.
