Looks like Dreamworks has pulled The Marrying Kind in favor for a more uptempo (I'm assuming... no clip available yet) tune. Going for adds June 27th. I have to agree with their decision... Marrying Kind didn't really strike a chord with me. Hopefully this will give Jessica the next break she's looking for. I'll post a link as soon as it's available.

This seems like it will probably be a good move. I liked The Marrying Kind, but didn't really feel it would be a big hit. It was not the right choice for a lead-off single.
Hopefully this is an upbeat, fun song that radio will want to play.

HOT LFO REMAKE! no, seriously, I really liked her second album..the one w/ "Who I Am" on it. I hope it does well.

Clip sounds promising, but she better get this to radio before summer ends.

I think this one has a MUCH better shot at radio than 'The Marrying Kind'.
I think I may prefer TMK as a song, but as a single, hands-down it's Summer Girl.
I think radio may play this one.

It would be great to have her back on the radio, but she HAS to get better material. Heck, they should stick You're the Man back on this cd and release it as a single....it's her best song to date hands down in my book. These 2 new ones are bad.

I really like it after hearing the entire song.
The last portion is way better than the first minute or so...I like the bridge parts and how the song ends. :) .

Official add date was this past Monday and the song is nowhere near the Top 50 over on Mediabase. With under 100 spins (and no bullet), it appears this one may be a flop. The question is...If this song does indeed stall very, very low on the charts and dies quickly...will DreamWorks continue to push Jessica and her material or will this be the end of the road? I really like the girl and hope things work out, but it doesn't look too promising right now.

Things are still not looking very promising over on Mediabase:

at least it's rebounding a bit....and hopefully it charts on Billboard this week (or at least next week) I'm hoping "Summer Girl" gets enough airplay to warrant Jessica another single.
I like "Summer Girl" but i'm sitting back and wondering if DreamWorks really had big expections for a single with the word 'Summer' in it and releasing it the last week of June. As much as DreamWorks have dropped the ball on Jessica's last two albums....I think they've completely killed this one (so far). Jessica should not be penalized for DW's dumb "business strategies"

Amen to that.
Hopefully everything works out for Jessica in the end, with or without the label.

#50 on Mediabase today.
Picking up a bit of steam. Let's see where it ends up at the end of the week.

It's up to #49 with a +88 bullet. If "Summer Girl" keeps this up for at least two more weeks, looks like Jessica would hit Top 40. I really don't know how far it will go after that considering the summer is winding down.....
At least radio is giving SG a second wind.

The whole Summer season runs through August and probably even halfway through September before people really start preparing for Fall...she may make the Top 30 before people are sick of the song.

She's up to #49 today on MB so her chances to debut on next week's R&R are pretty good. I'd be surprised if she hit the top 20 but she still might have a little chart run. (I have to go shovel the driveway now, so I don't have time to debate whether it's still summer.)

Summer is winding down??? Not around here it isn't It is when the singles charts are updated on a weekly basis. We may have two more months of summer left....but that only equals 6-8 weeks for the song to go up the charts. Lately when it's taking some singles 20+ weeks to hit the top 20, 8 weeks is not long at all.

Up to #47 now and I'm pretty sure there will be some recurrents, so this should continue to rise!

Wow...that's a nice start on Billboard.
The song is indeed up to #47 but the plays haven't been going up much this week. Bullet for the week is so-so, though. Hopefully she can finish the week strong.

I would still love for this song to do well. But it doesn't look like it's gonna go up very much further, huh?
Can I get some predictions about how this will continue to do on the charts? I've been watching it and in the past week or two, it's been going up so slowly and losing spins so slowly. So what do yall think is gonna happen with this song?

I doubt it cracks the Top 40. It looks weak.
Hope this isn't the end for Jessica.

So what happened to Summer Girl and whats the deal with Jessica? It looks like her album no longer has a release date.

I just listened to this for the first time, and am amazed that this did not do better. It sounds very shedaisy-ish and SheDaisy has been doing very well lately on the charts. Country music (in its entirety:radio, CMA, ACM...) confuses me.

while i thought it would do better in the beginning, I'm not surprised.
It doesn't sound like SHeDAISY at all to me...the lyrics are way too weak to have been written by Kristyn Osborn, one of the business' premiere songwriters....
