I don't understand why One Direction debuted before Gaga or Passenger. In fact Passenger always was ahead 1D on the chr chart till three days ago

Interesting choices of extras: between extras and current hits, Ellie Goulding and Imagine Dragons both have three songs in the countdown each, especially notable as they each only have a few hits thus far to play. (Macklemore and Ryan Lewis had three concurrent countdown hits last week, but not this week.) Meanwhile, both Ellie and Calvin Harris individually get Optional Extras while their collaborative hit hangs on at #39 (just above One Direction who also get OE'd.)

Apparently three of the four hours end with two extras at the end and no others in between: this is either well organized or overly predictable placement, depending on your opinion.

With approximations for both the Mediabase and Billboard mainstream #1s now out there, who wants to guess what AT40's #1 for the year will be?

For Mediabase, Locked Out of Heaven is speculated to be #1, for Billboard the speculation is Blurred Lines. For AT40, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that...it'll be neither of the two.

I'll finish the Mediabase Chart once Sunday comes around. There are many songs that are too close to call/or rising rapidly even at this end. Avicii, Lorde and Katy Perry are deep on the chart and are accumulating airplay like crazy.

Another good chart. Lately we've had 4 regular extras and 4 optional ones each week. They should have played
one of the breakouts during the second half of the show. I'm surprised that Give It 2 U is running out of steam
considering what a smash Blurred Lines is. As we know from Media Base, The Monster will be a monster of a hit,
and Rihanna now has 4 weeks towards her next 4 year record.

The top 10 has 2 consecutive S songs, 2 consecutive R songs, and 2 consecutive W songs.

As we approach the 10 year anniversary of the Casey/Ryan switch at the beginning of January, I'm very saddened to hear of Casey's declining health.

As I recall, it looked to me like AT40 weren't counting December spins on last year's year-end chart. That would have had a significant impact on both songs.
