I think her label and team are banking on her following and fan base from Glee carrying this album more than trying to secure radio airplay.

"Louder" should be sent to radio & club producers for remixes, like yesterday.

"You're Mine" is great, and so is every track they've released from this album thus far tbh. "Cannonball" was just okay, but I'm really excited for the full LP now.
From a marketing perspective, it's interesting how many tracks they've already released and how there's still almost a month until the album's release. I'm curious what the promo will be like closer to the actual date.

So wth is their strategy? What happened with cannonball? She's a great singer and has a good bunch of songs that could work on radio. What's the label push gonna be tho?

^I think their strategy is really just to slowly trickle out the songs and hope that keeps interest in her until the release date. They clearly have no plans to push her on radio, so I'm curious how they plan on sustaining relevance after the album's release.

Glad to see she's doing a couple major promo spots. Hopefully there's more.
I also cannot, for the life of me, get "You're Mine" out of my head.

You can stream the album on iTunes. Smart - they need to draw in casual listeners and they can advertise it when Glee airs. Will check it out in the afternoon!

Rolling Stone gives the album 1.5/5 stars:
Ouch.

^When's the last Rolling Stone gave a positive review to a completely pop album? I don't know why they bother tbh.

This album seems so weird to me - sequencing is really odd (what is "Battlefield" doing as track four?) and it goes from power pop to a more understated ballad to a mid-2000s Coldplay single. It just seems like they threw a bit of everything into the album, but it comes off as disingenuous to me. I don't know - there are several good moments, but the sum isn't greater than its parts for me yet. Curious what others' thoughts are if any of you try the stream this week.

Yeah, she was SHREDDED by Rolling Stone and they gave her the ultimate shade with that last sentence. I have as much faith in her as a pop star as I do in Idina Menzel. Not everyone is made for success as a star. Fortunately, she has fans from Glee, but obviously, that's not enough to carry sales, so I hope they aren't banking on that.

I agree wholeheartedly about the sequencing. I think if "Louder" were swapped with "Battlefield," it would make a lot more sense. As for the disingenuousness, I disagree, though I can see what you mean. I think a lot of it comes from the autotune taking so much of the life out of her voice that we're used to hearing. But I still think for a pop album, it's personal, especially remembering Cory (weren't two new tracks added to commemorate him?). Idk, I like it. Also, the lyrics to "Burn with You" are so uncomfortable given Cory's death

The only mainstream singles I can see happening are the uptempos.
"Louder", "On My Way", "Don't Let Go" are all sure-fire radio & club material.. They can market her in those arenas really well. The big voice with a big beat - it's a solid formula.
"Cannonball" had remixes from Dave Audé but was just, awkward.
The ballads really do showcase her voice, which was her goal - but... this is a fan's album. Not a mainstream power seller.

Also, the lyrics to "Burn with You" are so uncomfortable given Cory's death I'm trying not to think of Cory when I listen to this track because the lyric is really great on its own. It made me think of Tina Arena's "Burn" (a very different song altogether) but still, good stuff.

On My Way pretty much HAS to be the next single. They can't really deny it! It's like a super catchy P!nk song meets Demi Lovato. Ali Tamposi has delivered again! I can't wait to hear what she writes for Kelly Clarkson's upcoming album!

After more listens than I can count now, "On My Way," "Burn with You," "You're Mine," and "Cue the Rain" are the standouts, but I honestly cannot skip a track. I never expected her album to be as strong as it is.
It's unfortunate they went with "Cannonball" as the single; it's probably the most lifeless track on the album.
